If you're vacationing in Waikiki and don't want to pay top dollar for food and groceries at local convenience stores this big supermarket is easy to reach by bus (route #13). As well as the deli and an extensive range of groceries they also retail Hawaiian produce for gifts to take home or enjoy yourself.

Every Friday, Safeway has certain items on for $5.00, as in deli meats, cheese, per lb. a great saving as it's about 1/2 price. Other items are listed weekly. Go early in the day as it is very busy. We had a kitchenette so purchased cold cuts and cheese for lunches. Just google Safeway for Friday specials.

Make sure you get yourself the Safeway card, then you get the markdowns . Can be used anywhere in Hawaii and mainland US. You can shop, buy a coffee, relax and drink tour coffee and eat your meal at the one place and great clean restrooms as was the whole store. Bus no 13 from near the good panty drop... More

We found all super markets to be unbelievably expensive in Hawaii. We were told to get our things here and were happy about that. Walk to a service counter first to get a red discount card; that'll save you a lot of money. You can get fresh and affordable breakfast, lunch or dinners here...besides the regular groceries. Bread, if you... More

Nice safeway, remodeled a few years ago and that helps all grocery stores compete with Whole Foods. This safeway has a nice deli and nice sushi.

Safeway deli has a great selection of hot and cold foods. Also has a good amount of bakery stuff. You can pick out a whole meal and take home or great for a picnic

This is the best, closest and cheapest place to shop for groceries if you are staying in Waikiki and have a car. It is only a five to ten minute drive away on Kapahulu Avenue, but too far to walk.

They have everything imaginable for plate lunches/ local food to poke bowls. The food is very good and compares to restaurants. Great to pick something up for the beach outing. The prices are very reasonable as well.

Can rely on the regular goods like all Safeway's, but they had a lot of local favorites. King's Sweet bread, Kalua pork, laulaus, Hawaiian Suns drinks, and of course bottled water cheaper than other stores. Hard liquor was much cheaper than in Washington State.

There are several delis in several Safeway stores in Hawaii, and I've been to many of them and their sandwiches and other comestibles are great. With one exception. DON'T PATRONIZE THE SAFEWAY IN KANEOHE unless you crave horrid services even to the point of maliciousness!
