Just got back to the hotel from what was the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time. Firstly may I say that the waitress was amazing but she could not make up for the poor experience. Firstly we were told there was no...catch of the day available, which ok happens. We all decided to order pasta and wanted a bottle of red wine to go with it. They did not have the red we wanted or any other bottle with the exception of one pinot noir which we don’t like or the most expensive on the menu. This is not a cheap restaurant so to only have two choices of red wine is totally unacceptable. We then waited for our main dishes My pasta came and was very bland and my wife’s came barely like warm so she sent it back. Meanwhile my daughters was no where to be seen. I finished mine by adding some parmigiana and chili sauce to give it some flavor and then my daughters arrived which she thought was very dull also. We both finished and finally my wife’s arrived which she said was very nice. Too little too late. They did give us a free desert which we didn’t want but as I said earlier the waitress did all she could to try to rectify the disappointment of the meal. Over all a very poor experience from start to finish I don’t recommendMore

My family ate here for dinner before the Honolulu Marathon, and it was perfect! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was so fun. I highly recommend it as a fun change from just eating in Waikiki when visiting.

My wife and I decided to drive over to Honolulu’s Salt neighborhood/section in Kaka’ako, walk around, and seek out a new restaurant. We had our sights set on Butcher & Bird, but it was a little too “meat intensive” considering my wife is a quasi-vegetarian,...(lacto/pesca), so we found a quaint little place just downstairs called Vein at Kaka’ako, which was a very lucky find. We checked out the mostly Italian menu over a couple of glasses of wine, Chardonnay for me and Merlot for my wife, (both were excellent), and not over priced (around $9/glass). My wife decided on the Risotto Funghi -(cremini mushrooms, herbs, w/ truffle essence), ($19.50), and I went with the native dish of Rome, (Caccio e Peppe) - grated Pecorino Romano, bread crumbs, cracked black pepper on beautifully aldente bucatini pasta, ($17.50). Both dishes were truly excellent! We were really delighted with their preparation. There were many other items on the menu from appetizers to fancier entrees, but we kept it simple. We did however try their ample desserts, my wife choosing the walnut bread pudding w/ gelato ala mode w/ seasonal berries ($9.50), and I, 3 simple scoops of vanilla gelato, ($7.00). (More than enough for both of us). Ryan, our waiter was very helpful and friendly and catered to our every request. Needless to say, we were very pleasantly surprised and will definitely return with friends. We recommend Vein at Kaka’ako. You won’t be disappointed!More

We were a bit disappointed in their lunch menu. We wished they offered some of their dinner selections at lunch time. My porcini carbonara was very tasty, but others said the Tarako and Wasabi was just okay, One person said her pasta was kind of...dry. Two people said there wasn’t much of a wasabi flavor and the cod roe was very tiny. We had heard good things about this restaurant, but perhaps dinner is better than lunch.More

Celebrated my birthday here with friends!! It was wonderful. We enjoyed the octopus appetizer, carbonara, risotto and osso buco. We were NOT DISAPPOINTED. My carbonara was so rich, I could only eat a few bites!! I look forward to coming here again, but it probably...won't be a while because this is definitely a place for special occasions.More

This small restaurant provides superb food in a refined setting for a great price. I/ve been there now 4 times in two months and each time is better than the one before.

First visit to this new Salt complex gem was very satisfying. Three of us enjoyed the uni butter beef bone marrow, risotto fungi, salad Nicoise and pasta. The restaurant is a Mediterranean fusion theme that was delightful. Al fresco dining made it all the more...enjoyable.More

We ordered the portobello sandwich and prosciutto flat bread with arugula salad...interesting and fresh. Lots of parking.

Visited here for a late Valentine's Day dinner. Arrived in the mood for some pasta and the Sausage and Scamorrza pasta did just the trick. Great balance of flavor and spice in the sausage crumbles and felt like just the right portion amount. My wife...had the Uni carbonara to be a bit adventurous and found it to be delicious for Uni (sea urchin) novices and connoisseurs alike. Warm bread pudding with cool gelato for dessert was also a great combination to end the meal with! It's a cool space and imagine it would be great on a clear night for prime people-watching throughout the Salt complex.More
