Wanted to try genuine Hawaiian food so went in to try. Recommended the laulau pork and lechan kawali. The laulau pork is actually chunks of succulent pork seasoned with Hawaiian salt, and then wrapped with softly steamed taro leaves. Kalua pork is succulent pork roasted...in an underground oven , then shredded and seasoned with salt while still hot.More

Eat with the locals! Great experience. Exceptional customer service. The Kailua pork is wrapped in Taro leaves and steamed 24 hrs. Worth the trip. Try local taste and very affordable.

A small, hole in the wall, place but looks can be deceiving. The food was terrific at reasonable prices Even my wife, it generally does not like Hawaiian food, who only went here to appease me, wanted to go back a second time because she...liked it so much (we did not have time however) When we walked in there was no one else there (only half a dozen or so tables). But I had read good reviews so decided to give it a shot. I had the laulau plate. Very moist with all the accompaniments. The waiter (owner?) even gave me a lesson on how to eat it by putting the chili oil on and some rice and this and that (I have ordered laulau may times at my favorite Hawaiian restaurant in Los Angeles but usually it’s a bit dry and I smother it in teriyaki sauce and it never comes with the accompaniments this one came with to put each bite together). My wife had the short ribs and said they were far better than the ones we get at our home Hawaiian place.More

For 3 people, 3 dishes, we paid nearly $80, after the owner forced us to pay a 20% tip. The taste was good, but the price was not worth it.

Amazing food, absolutely delicious I told my dad that if I had died while I was eating I'd only be upset i didn't get to eat more. I'm not sure what I ate was but it was heavenly it felt like a warm hug after...a long day. The BBQ beef was my favorite, but the kalua pork is great as well. The restaurant is quaint and has a lovely atmosphere 11/10 . I'd love to come again.More

This was definitely some of the best food we had on our time in Hawaii. Everything was outstanding. The Kalua pig was so juicy and tender and without a doubt the best I have ever had. The Laulau was also excellent. I could not imagine...going back to Honolulu without eating here again. If you are looking for traditional Hawaiian this is a great place!More

We had a sampler with ahi poke, lomi salmon, pulled pork, poi, and a coconut dessert. Everything we had was a 9/10. This small, family run restaurant is precisely what we were looking for: authentic local dishes and local people - not a chain restaurant....Excellent place to sample many well-prepared local dishes in one spot.More

We were delighted! We had 2 Lau Lau combos/plates to go, and we savored every bite. The pork melted in your mouth, the rice was cooked to perfection, as were the other veggies. And the coconut dessert was a great finish. Very ample portions too!...Bonus: we ordered by phone close to closing time and were relatively far from the place. Being turists on the island, we had to map the directions and missed the place. We got there right on closing and the owner was waiting for us!More

We visited da uno Hawaii for take out on a tip from our taxi driver as he was dropping us off at Leonard’s bakery for malasadas. He told us to just walk a few blocks and we would get some tasty authentic Hawaiian food. He...was right. We ordered almost everyone the menu but since it was our first time trying poi we were encouraged to order the small one. They were right. Poi is not for newbies. The food was delicious the lau lau. The Kailua pig all delicious. We had some ahi poke and some cooked fish. The price point was around 15 per dish. We called an Uber and they took us back to our hotel for around $ 14More

I visited this restaurant four years ago and it was great, run by a couple older Hawaiian guys. I was aware that it had closed - and then I heard they re-opened. It is now owned by a Korean woman, very nice, and the food...is just as good and the menu is unchanged (except probably the price went up in the last four years). If you want a true Hawaiian dinner - much better than Luau food - then you should try Da Ono. It is tough to park, but we found a spot right out front. The owner was so kind and helpful and instructed us on how to eat the food. I can't imagine anyone enjoys Poi (although my son seemed to enjoy it very much with the Kalua Pork), but everything else was flavorful and we enjoyed our meal. It is a small, older restaurant with lots of Hawaiian prints on the walls, nothing fancy. Food and service are great and the price is right. The four of us shared the Kalua Pig and Lau Lau platter, the Salt Meat Watercress soup, and Short Rib Pipikaula. All were delicious.More

We went yesterday for a late lunch. The food was not bad but definitely small portion for 19 to 27 dollar for main course. We order a variety of plate but the waiters push us to order more food probably because she knew how small...the portion will be. The food was tasty but we got upset when we ask for beer and they sell us two can of longboard Kona and in the bill they charge 9 dollar each. The was no price on the menu and we didn’t ask but 9 dollar is ridiculous. We will not go back there. Not recommended.More

Run by new owners, the food is good but hospitality lacking the Polynesian welcome of the original establishment. Kalua pork and Laulau are still tender and tasty. Good Poi (probably mildest I’ve eaten). The Haupia (coconut pudding) was a bit grainy; I still prefer the...silkier jelly-like set texture that used to be sold here. The biggest dampener was the atmosphere - rushed and impersonal interaction with the owner. The original family owners made you feel the true Polynesian welcoming spirit and were keen to showcase their Hawaiian cuisine. The dampener to what was otherwise a pleasant lunch, was when the owner indicated a bigger tip was warranted!!!More
