I am a total foodie but this meal, on this date, was absolutely terrible. The little gem salad was over dressed with a mayo/mustard-like substance, fried bits of Quinoa, chunks of rolled up ham, and cured egg yolks that looked like yellow jelly and lacked any...flavor. The main was an overly sweet tasting Fluke with nearly inedible turnips. My companions entree was nothing that resembled or tasted like German Snitchle - fried to an inch of its life. If that were not bad enough we both spent the entire night with stomach problems. I'm not sure what happened in that kitchen but my experience was a shame.More

The meal my wife and I had, specifically the seafood was prepared to a very high standard and was excellent. Service was also top notch. Arielle, our server did an outstanding job in her taking care of our meal and also her advice on selections....the only negative was the with the décor, which didn't match the food or service, and seemed straight out of the 80sMore

What a great restaurant. Sat st the bar with a lovely view of the harbor. The food was amazing!! Best chicken I have ever tasted. Love the fact that the veggies are locally sourced and organic and the meat is from humanely raised animals.

I called three weeks prior to our visit to make a reservation explaining that it was our thirtieth wedding anniversary and requesting a table with a good view. The hostess/proprietor was so incredibly rude to me that I almost cancelled. Fast forward three weeks later,...as soon as we check in, I felt the icy vibe from the hostess and I knew we were in trouble. We were given the worst table in the restaurant, while better tables were given to other patrons. I had a lovely view of a screamung toddler. No mention was made of our anniversary during the entire dinner.Hostess/proprietor and old comb over guy mentioned in a previous review, stopped at every other table to ask how everything was, while ignoring us. The food was very good and our waitress Ariel was excellent. This infantile behavior from management was unacceptable. Luckily, we were able to have a “do over” anniversary dinner the next night at Castle Hill and they were as gracious and lovely as the Fluke proprietors were not. The Fluke was the only bad restaurant experience we had in Newport.More

Terrible service, bland food, outdated atmosphere. Staff was extremely rude especially the old guy with the combover who was hosting that night. So many good places in Newport don’t waist your time here.

One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time! Cast iron skillet chicken was amazing! So juicy. Got it with whipped potatoes and fresh local corn. Absolutely delicious! Great wine and sunset views too! A must try. You won’t be sorry.

Highly recommend Fluke to anyone who wants to have an absolutely delicious meal, with outstanding service and atmosphere. My boyfriend, friend and I dined at Fluke for dinner on a Saturday evening, and it was the highlight of our Newport weekend. Every dish was better...than the last, and the owner was so kind and seemed to sincerely care that we had an excellent dining experience. More than once, we saw the owner stop by every table just to say hello or make sure they were enjoying their meal. In addition, all of the staff was kind and warm throughout and we never felt rushed to turn over the table (which I'm sad to say was the not the norm during our other meals in Newport that weekend). All in all, 10/10 would recommend Fluke to anyone in Newport.More

This was the highlight of our Newport trip! We were there for 3 nights, had several meals, and Fluke was BY FAR the best meal we had. We had a great seat, upstairs by the window, we got to see the sun set which was...absolutely beautiful. We ordered so many things, and one was better than the next! First and foremost, the Cuarto de Tula cocktail was UH-MAZING. It was a mezcal cocktail with House-Made Strawberry Preserve, Fresh Lemon & Basil -- highly recommend. For apps, we got Fluke Crudo, tuna tartare, Marcona Almond Filled Dates, Chilled Corn Soup, Local Heirloom Tomato Salad, and the oysters. I'm a newby fish eater, and i devoured ALL of this. It all was so fresh, nothing tasted fishy, and all had so much flavor. I think my favorite app was the tuna and the chilled corn.. but also the dates.. too many to choose from because they were all honestly amazing. For mains we got the Spinach Cavatelliᴳ (with/without) Baffoni Farm Chicken, Seared Scallops and the Arugula Pesto Risotto. We all were so in love, but very very full at this point. All three of these dishes had so much flavor and honestly just melted in your mouth. The pasta was homemade too. drool. Lastly, dessert. We had a round of sherry and the peach walnut crisp. SO GOOD. highly recommend. In addition to the food being absolutely amazing, the owner came over to us and introduced himself, asked how our evening was and made us feel very special. You very rarely find restaurants where the owner will come out and mingle with the guests and it's truly a lovely touch that adds a uniqueness the experience. I can't wait to visit again!More
