we were regulars in the '90s but stopped going due to too many changes in ownership and chef etc....tried it again after a recent recommendation- it was great.....suggest these appetizers as we had a group of 6 and could taste around: calamari, baked mussels, oyster oregenata, grilled tuna and all were done to perfection....for an .entre suggest fried soft shell... We made it to Zelda's after 8 on a Friday; the restaurant was busy and cozy. I ordered the eggplant which was one of the night's special and a salad. My friends had the roasted chicken served with cheese macaroni, another had the bass. The service was good and the food average. You can walk into the attached bar through... More

Used to love this place, still good but something is missing... first off the great sailing photos which used to adorn the walls, all gone. Some of the simple satisfying dishes on the menu, replaced "Hanger Steak" if the quality is USDA Ch or higher is great, Top Butt/sirloin not so. Steak Tartar is still good, burger nice and cooked... My wife and I went back to Zelda's for dinner. This is since my last review where I complimented them on not making big changes to their menu. Well, I guess that was premature. When we returned there were major changes to the menu. The seared tuna, both as an appetizer and as a dinner, was gone. A couple of... More

Stopped in here for a small bite and drink. The bartender was great and friendly, the food was delicious and the wine was perfect. The bar area is small but if you score a seat at the bar, it's perfect. Worth stopping in!

We reached here at 2.40 and they close at 3 but the waitress was very accommodative. Food came about 20 minutes after we placed the orders and you could tell that everything was made fresh. We had Fried lobster, Braised Romaine stuffed with salmon, Chicken wrap and their special burger. We loved the food. Especially my burger was perfectly charred... More

Zelda's is only a 10 minute walk from the main wharfs and going there takes you away from the tourist zones to a more residential area of Newport, with many small shops along the way. The restaurant is small and has a cozy feel, and the wait staff is wonderful. Everyone is very friendly, and concerned about their guests. We... More

We had an excellent meal June 8th. We traveled New England for 2 weeks and this was my favorite dinner. I had a salmon dish and my husband short ribs. Shared a dessert. We entered through the bar which was filled with many locals who directed us into the restaurant side. We went during the week before the tourist rush... More
