Conveniently located for solid dinner.

First visit. Good food and drinks, quick service ( a little bit too quick for us), not so friendly host(?). In general, it's a great place for solid dinner.

Great service and decent food

Food was excellent but my husband is a very plain individual so he was less than impressed with their options. The night we went they ran out of whiskey to make a signature drink so that was disappointing. I got the lobster roll and it...was delicious. Parking is on the street and we had a tough time.More

A BEST RESTAURANT in Newport

Jo's is in the super-top tier of Newport restaurants. The French Dip Burger Bender creation is out of this world delicious, as is the tomato tart app, the classy decor, linen napkins, the cheerful welcome from the host, and the exceptionally clean and beautifully tiled...restrooms.. Readers, many of you would agree that a server can make or break the entire experience. Our server, Kat, immediately made us feel welcome and relaxed. Throughout the dinner, she appeared at the perfect moments -- with water, with hot rolls, and with extra serving utensils and plates so the three of us could easily share. Great food and service

We were in Newport on a cold Sunday and checked out TripAdvisor. That’s how we found Jo’s. Our waitress Tara was great and offered suggestions. We started with a hummus plate. Fish and Chips and a squash Angolotti with scallops were our entrees. Shredded brussel...sprouts were delicious. The only thing better than the food was the service. Tara was warm and funny! We live about an hour away but will be back when in the area.More

Birthday outing

We went out to dinner for a friends 50th bday. Our group was treated like royalty after a reservation mix up. Can’t say enough about how accommodating Jimmy was to our group. The staff were warm and friendly and the food was fantastic. The whole...team made our dinner special. We would definitely make a point of coming here when we visit Newport again.More

Good food

We had New Year's dinner at Jo's. The service was good. Hubby enjoyed the lobster bisque. I had the pork chop dinner and it was delicious. I only gave it four stars because the service was very slow in the beginning. Once we put in...our order, the service was steady and attentive. However, I do recommend this restaurant.More

Incredible service

What a wonderful dining experience. My husband has a severe fish allergy and I have dietary restrictions. Our waitress Tracy was wonderful in making sure that everything we ordered was safe for us to eat/ truly going above and beyond. It was a great experience...as we did not have to worry. Our meals were great- the lobster roll was filled with tons of lobster meat including claws. The angilotti was excellent, full of flavor.More

Ok food

Overall, dinner was average. The clam chowder to start was good, but everything else was fine. The shrimp & grits were ok, but did not taste remotely authentic. The hanger steak and herb butter was also ok, but the steak was extremely tiny and not...seasoned well.More

Fantastic meal - can't wait to go back!

Last minute decided to head to Newport and took a look at Restaurant week offerings - Jo's menu looked terrific and reviews were good. It was fantastic - from being welcomed when we arrived, to all the waitstaff and, of course, the food. Had the...beef carpaccio appetizers and both had lobster-stuffed chicken, then had mousse and olive cake desserts. Excellent cocktails as well, and in a nice area just up the hill from the main tourist area on a street we had never wandered on to. Will definitely be back - regular menu looked very good and it was such a nice, friendly atmosphere with airy space. The owner -the real Jo, stopped at the table and loved chatting with her.More

Great Dinner Prix Fixe

Wonder Sunday dinner! Great Prix Fixe! What a find. An accessible entrance on the side. I had the clam chowder and a marvelous shrimp and grits! One of the best ever and I get this a lot. My husband ordered the salad and the salmon...and was very happy! Good gluten free entree too!More

Ok meal

I had the chicken sandwich and fries which were too soft and overcooked on the outside. My wife had the fish and chips which was nothing special and fries cooked the same way. Service was very good however.

Wonderful food and great service

I went on a weeknight but even so could not believe how fast I was served and quickness of food. I had the dry dock fish and chips. It came out before I blinked piping hot. Breading was nice and light and cod tender and...not dry. So good I had the cinnamon peach bread pudding! YumMore

Try the scallops!

It’s not cargo shorts and tee shirts for guys, or crop tops and short shorts for women but it’s not sports jackets for men and Lilly Pulitzer or Eileen Fisher for women. You could pull that off if you wanted to dress.
