We were told that this restaurant had the best Italian in Newport and they couldn't have been more right. The atmosphere is so quaint and reminds you of Italy. We did have a reservation and had to leave a credit card to hold the table...More
This is a very lovely Italian restaurant. It is 2 floors of an old house and is at the "other end" of Thames St; out of the way of the touristy and busy restaurants.. a hidden gem, actually. The food is wonderful, from the homemade...More
We were lucky enough to eat here on our last night in Newport. Coming from the NY metro area, I never expect great Italian food far from my area, but Mamma Luisa is special. The decor is very pleasant and the service was superb by...More
This is not the place for a “slice” or a “square.” This is serous real Italian straight from Bologna. Though the veal and the in house fresh made ricotta gnocchi with an amazing red sauce topped with Arugula was impressive, it was the wine selections...More
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit on a cold February Monday. The restaurant, in a Victorian house on lower Thames Street, was warm and cozy. Service was excellent. But the pasta! The tagliatelle were tender, and cooked to perfection, but the Bolognese sauce was out of...More
First, know that this restaurant is in an old Victorian style home further down on Thames. Homey feel, tight quarters but that's what gives it it's charm as well. We were greeted and seated quickly (probably because we were so late on New Years Eve!)....More
So I stand corrected - last year I wrote a review for Pasta Beach staying it was the best Italian in Newport but I was very wrong (sorry Pasta Beach)! This place blows them out of the water!! Everything is made from scratch. The olive...More
This restaurant is somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of the center of Newport, but is well worth going to. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. It is the food that sets this restaurant apart. You find dishes here that it are hard to...More
We arrived on a Saturday night without a reservation. Our mistake and we were told curtly that it would be 45 to 60 minute wait. As we thought about it, the maître-did offer us a seat in their waiting area and enjoy a glass of...More
The restaurant has a lot in the rear that holds maybe 3 or 4 cars. I don't think many people are aware off it. The lot is basically a wide driveway in the rear. If there is a space you can park there. There is also a variety... More
The restaurant has a lot in the rear that holds maybe 3 or 4 cars. I don't think many people are aware off it. The lot is basically a wide driveway in the rear. If there is a space you can park there. There is also a variety of street parking although it sometimes means walking a block or two. I hope that helps

It's in an old house, so there are a few steps outside to get into the restaurant itself and then once inside they have 2 floors. I've only ever sat on the first floor, but the stairs are right in front of you when you walk in and they look really steep.
If you go, definitely make a reservation (I'd recommend this regardless) and request first floor!
