We enjoyed our visit to this popular restaurant, despite having to wait for our reserved table. The food was excellent, and Freda, our server was very friendly and efficient. Well worth a visit, feels like an authentic Italian family restaurant
My husband and I had dinner here on a busy Saturday evening in August. Thankfully we had reservations, as it was very busy. Lucia herself greeted us, and then handed us off to a kind and helpful waitress. The food was outstanding, and the friendly...atmosphere seemed to permeate the whole restaurant.More
The food was excellent and the staff was engaging and helpful.
I was raised in an Italian family and I am always hesitant to eat at Italian restaurants, because no one can live up to Grandma, Mom or Sisters cooking!
Lucia met this expectorations
We had reservations and sat at the BEST table. It was right at the front window, overlooking the street, shops and people! They were able to accommodate with a gluten free dinner for one of us. I had pasta with Bolognese sauce and it was...terrific. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. A very good dining experience!More
Food was excellent as was the service. Yes, restaurant is small but we didn’t find it noisy. Busy but well run and food was promptly served and was hot and fresh. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Dessert was incredible! Highly recommend.
My wife and I ate here on our third and last night in Newport and can only give it a mixed review. The restaurant is small and we found it noisy. I guess that’s almost unavoidable in a small place. The menu is mostly pastas...and pizzas but they also have specials, both of which we ordered. Mine was a spicy seafood dish over pasta that was tasty but certainly not very spicy. (When I see spicy tomato sauce in an Italian restaurant, I think fra diavolo.) My wife had the veal special, sort of resembling a Marsala but made with balsamic vinegar, which she found “mushy” in texture and overwhelmed by the sauce. The accompanying spinach was also less than memorable. I tasted the veal and was not impressed, although not finding the texture as off putting. Wine by the glass is available and the list is adequate although nothing special. Lucia may be good for its regular dishes but, based on our specials, we can’t recommend it. Newport has too many other high quality restaurants to enjoy.More
Had reservations. Seated us outside. Our table was in the parking lot. Service was HORRIBLE! Took over 15 minutes to get a glass of wine. Order pasta without red pepper flakes. Was covered in them. Asked before I ordered if I could leave them out....Took forever to receive correct order. Slowest service ever. Was lightning and no one ever checked on us. If I could leave zero stars I definitely would.More
We had a reservation at another restaurant, but due to mechanical issue in their kitchen they were forced to close. It was late and a Saturday night so we were desperate to find a new place for dinner. Lucia had an open table. We did...not know the restaurant, but we took a chance. What a lucky break for us!
Lucia is an excellent North Italian restaurant and we were amazed that we had not heard of it before. Our server was Natalie and she was suburb. Charming and well informed about the menu. When asked she made excellent suggestions without hesitation.
I began with their Bruschetta al Prosciutto which was very well prepared and a perfect starter to my meal. For dinner I enjoyed the pappardelle alla Bolognese. It was perfect and one of the best Bolognese I have ever experienced. Another of our party had a Monk fish dish which she loved. No one in our group of four had anything but praise for the food we were served.More
