My family had a quick lunch here before embarking on a sailboat cruise on the bay. The sandwiches were delicious and the clam chowdah was good. We had plenty to eat for the price.

The place was packed on a Saturday night. Ate at the bar and was offered the full dinner menu. Bartender was great. Customers at the bar were very nice. Food was very good. Will definitely go again.

We have been feasting on the New England Clam Chowdah over the course of the past 50 years, and the Chowder is by far the best I have ever had. We make it a point to visit The Black Pearl as often as we can, although now living in Florida makes it a trip, but a great trip.

We were in Newport for busy, busy Independance Day so wanted to book somewhere to be sure of getting in, so we tried for a table at The Black Pearl but they were only taking bookings for the more formal Commodores room so we went with that. The food was very nice, with the chowder deserving a special mention, and service... More

Stopped here on a family vacation in June, and I must say that the food was superb. The wait staff was also incredibly friendly and helpful with menu selections. Would definitely return.

I love the chowder, my favorite anywhere. I always take a quart home. Chowder and a sea-breeze on the porch always make me happy. The burgers are good, actually never had a bad meal!!!

A bit on the salty side. The rice which came with it was very formulaic. The fish itself was nicely grilled and very fresh. This spot is very popular for drinks and is on the docks so our expectations are not that great to start with, but the lunch really was excellent. Lobster salad roll just ok.

Staff is friendly and great views while you eat. It is next to the marina and lots of people around. The beer is cold and the place is fun !

Recently visited this restaurant during our stay in Newport. We chose the outdoor seating because of the weather being so nice and having a small sleeping child. Very casual atmosphere. The food was underwhelming to say the least. I ordered the Cajun swordfish sandwich ( although I did not eat the bread because I feel as if swordfish does not... More

This excellent restaurant on the wharf in Newport had been in business 40 years. A customer in its first decade of business told us the New England Clam Chowder was the best he had ever eaten. We tried it last night, and agree it remains memorable. Twin lobsters were sweet and juicy, and swordfish prepared perfectly. Our waiter Russel was... More
