Great local pub with live music, cold brews, plentiful selection of tap beer, and delicious pub food. Closest place for a cold one where we stayed. Friendly staff, pool table and dart boards. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed

This is a good pub and a lot of atmosphere. We went there to watch the Champions League Final on May 29. The barman was not very friendly at all but the rest of the staff especially the young man just over from County Cork Ireland were great. The first pint of Guinness was very bitter, not enough of a head. The second one was much better although ironically it came in a plastic cup when the first one was in a proper glass. Not so sure I would rush there again except maybe to watch soccer/football.

My wife and I went there specifically to watch a lackluster performance by Manchester United against Arsenal, which I would give 1/2 a star. However, the Pub was great. The tables were a wobbly and in these Covid times the atmosphere was less than it probably usually is. They had a good selection of beer, but were out of a few of them. However, the beer they had went down well, their Irish coffee was grand, the staff were wonderful, and they put the game on TV. We had chowder and fries, both of which were okay. I was nervous about parking initally finding a 60-minute spot across the street and then moving to a 120-minute slot right outside for fear of getting a ticket, but the bar supposedly has parking in the rear (that was my plan b), so you should be all set. I'd visit again.

This place was very disappointing. It was crowded and dirty. There was even broken glass on the floor. The beer was overpriced; it was very difficult even to order a drink, unless perhaps if you were an attractive girl in a bathing suit!
There are much nicer bars quite close by.
I rarely write negative reviews, but I hope someone else can avoid our mistake!

Apparently the whole town agrees from what I hear, this guy, tall, maybe 40ish, blonde/redhead short hair - is the RUDEST server Ive ever come across in my 55 years of life. I have been in the serving business in the past, for about 20 years, there is NO reason to be so rude & demeaning. We took our party, AND our $800 we spent, across the street, & will NEVER step foot in there again. And will spread the word - over & over.

Fastnet is a staple in downtown Newport. It’s always packed for sporting events and most weekends with locals and visitors. However, I don’t think it’s as great as the hype. During busy hours service is spotty at best. Any thing that isn’t beer is loaded with ice so you’re not getting a full drink. Food is pretty good and there’s lots of room which is a selling point for downtown. It’s a fun time but nothing out of the ordinary.

Mixed experience. The place was very busy but the bartender/waiter communicated expectations and it worked out well. Overall his service was a solid 5 star experience. However the food we ordered was below average. The basic burger, ordered medium, was well done. Actually it was so well done it was hard, like a hockey puck.......So we'll go back and enjoy the bar and pass on the food.

Went to watch the Chelsea FC match on Boxing Day. Sunday Brunch/Lunch. Great pub atmosphere. Staff was great. Perfect selection of beers, especially IRISH beers! Food is pub food...but GOOD pub food. My 1st time ever having bangers & mash!

Best experience here is watching soccer games... mostly premier league games... If you a soccer/football fan this is the place in Newport.

They have large portions here. Lots of fried chicken dishes. You can sit indoors or outdoors. Located in downtown area.

Beer is cold on draft and a great place to watch soccer- very nice Irish atmosphere... but I was turned off with the drinks. We ordered draft beer -!which was $8 a draft and asked for an ice water- it is after all summer time in Newport...we got a bottle of Poland springs first $2!!!! Yikes what a rip off and clearly I could see on the soda fountain hand held device that WATER was available there, . It felt shady... they should’ve mentioned that there would be a charge and it’s a bottle of water....too bad- this will turn me off for ever wanting to go back

I am litrally torn between rating this 1 star or 5! I went there for the UEFA Finals (Soccer) and it was PACKED, the place to be! Unfortunately, too busy to serve food which I was hoping to try. I see pictures of a FULL Breakfast but its not on their menu so maybe a special? Anyway, for the most part it was good BUT one bartender ruined the entire day! Yes I 100% get it, no bartender wants to make mixed drinks when its busy but my GF really wanted a Margarita, I ordered a “Regular Bud”… his eyes rolled up as he looked at the people next to my GF and said very loudly “There is always one isn’t there” totally embarrassing her! He then gave me a Bud Light and I said, “It’s supposed to be a Regular Bud” to which he responded with a HUGE attitude very loudly “What the F%$&% is the difference” …. It took me deep breaths not to jump over the bar and smack him his attitude was so bad! Sorry my GF really wanted a mixed drink when you are busy, that one should not be too hard for you to make! The rest of the staff was good so I still tipped more than 25% on my tab as I know they all spilt the tips but if I ever do go back there and see him working I will walk out! If you hate your job that much get a different one! To the owner… most of your staff was good/great, get rid of the rotten apples they will ruin your bar! (and no I didn’t get his name sorry).
