We came for dinner, seeking fried oysters. We got an oyster dinner w/ 2 sides ($15.99) and blacken fish tacos ($10,99) and a bowl of Cream of crab soup ($6.99). Oysters (a doz!) were fried with a crispy coating and were not greasy, sides were generous. Tacos (3) were fair-sized and had a nice chunk of fish on them along w/ slaw and celantro. The soup was a good portion and was kinda thick for my tastes, it had some crab meat in it as well as some sherry on top Our server, Stormy, was on the ball and keep us supplied w/ drink refills and anything else we needed. Overall a good dinner out. W/ iced tea and pepsi. total bill was $2 w/o tip. Crabs looked good but were $45/doz and Jumbos were $65/doz. Several people were eating them.

We visited by boat for the first time in a few years. I will say I was pleasantly surprised by all of the new tables and umbrellas on the deck. We sat under a tent at a picnic style table. Many of the menu items sounded good but I wasn't too happy about everything coming with chips and "no substitutions allowed". I asked the waitress if they were homemade chips & she said no, they were store bought. So my suggestion would be to either make homemade chips or offer other side dish options. We all ended up ordering appetizers anyhow so I got coconut shrimp and a side of onion rings. The coconut shrimp were tasty! We visited during the pandemic - we went inside to use the restroom & there was nobody sitting inside and no seats at the bar, which is good. The servers did wear masks although ours kept hers under her nose, which makes no sense. But, our food was good, service was pretty good. We'll likely be back. I also wish they had a drink menu, only advertising crushes, beer, and 2 frozen drinks.

I must say, the hush puppies w/honey butter are excellent. We liked the smoky flavor of the pulled pork. The fried oysters were slightly better than average, but the onion rings were over cooked. Chicken tenders were very moist, but could use a little more seasoning. Beautiful views. We’ll try the Crabcake and shrimp next visit.

Won’t be back!!! Terrible service and average food. We live on an island, in a tourist area and accustomed to island time, we are very patient people but there is a fine line between patiently waiting and very poor service. Figured that a restaurant on the water has got to be good. We were looking forward to having crabs. First, we waited 10 to 15 minutes just to be acknowledged. And the place wasn’t that busy when we got there. The waitress spent most of her time, staring at herself in the mirror, and she came in and out of the service area. I guess that’s the common habit of kids working these days. Food was average…. We ordered soup and wings and sandwiches. It would’ve been nice for the soup to come out earlier so that we could’ve enjoyed it rather everything came out at once. And then a nightmare to get the bill and check out……Please please please spend some time training your staff OR fire those that don’t serve your establishment well.

Visited on a Saturday night. Arrived around 6:30. Plenty of seating at the bar. No wait! Bartender, Kim was great! Attentive and polite. Drinks were good. Food was average, basic bar food for sure. The pulled pork sandwich arrived with no BBQ sauce. Also the burger was over cooked. The Wedge salad, skip it. Presentation was awful, all the toppings (bacon, tomatoes etc.) came in little soufflé cups, not on the salad. It was a DIY salad, very strange! I don't like the fact everything was served on plastic plates with cheap utensils as well. View was great! Dog friendly! Live music!

On March 14, my daughter and I wanted to show a guest from abroad a place with great views. When we came in a waitress asked us to wait. When she came back she heard us speaking Spanish and told us that there were no tables available, we asked to be placed on a wait list, she said they had none. We saw many tables unoccupied and asked about those, she said there were only 3 waitresses working that day. We asked if we could wait seating at the bar. A second waitress came by and heard us and said we could seat at any table. As we walked to a table outside, the two women started talking. For half an hour nobody gave us menus, offered water, asked about drinks, nothing, as if we weren't there. We saw that people who came after us were being seated, their orders taken and people sitting next to us got refills for their drinks. The two women came by us several times and ignored us, we realized then that all the information was a pretext not to serve us and it was all on the account of being Spanish speaking people. We were the only Latinas in the restaurant. We got up and as we were leaving I told the first waitress that we were ignored for 40 mins., she didn't even reply. It was a humiliating experience that we have never expected in Maryland. Shame on them for perpetuating racism. We'll never go back there.

Met up with a friend for lunch. For some reason this place came up. It turned out to be perfect. Outside dining with tables far apart, and great view of water. I had fish tacos which were great and my friend had the oyster dinner which she also said was good. The waitress was cheerful and attentive. Lots of boaters coming and going but still felt comfortable at our table.

We were sailing up the Potomac river and anchored for the evening on Port Tobacco River. We found this restaurant had a dock we could dinghy to for dinner. The food and entertainment that night was worth it. A word of warning, the power boaters through a lot of wake going up the river. And stay in the channel when getting close to the docks because even the dinghy will get stuck in the sallows.

Excellemy food, scenery and amd service. Beautiful evening so we ate outside. Other than a guy that was a chain smoker, everything was great. New ramp to restaurant was great for my old knees.

It is a shame that Tripadvisor doesn't give the option for a zero. Even better would be a minus zero. It was a Thursday. When we walked in, the first thing we noticed was the lack of tables. The second thing was that the waitresses were young, pretty, polite and scantily clad. The walk around bar was loaded with barstools at the ready. When the management/owner of a restaurant has their own review section on Facebook closed so you can't leave a review, they know they are bad. I ordered cream of crab soup. Our food was served to us at the table in to-go containers. My cream of crab was brown in color and with oyster crackers. I was told this was how the cook made it. I thought well maybe she makes a different recipe then what I'm used to. They also only serve oyster crackers instead of saltines. I took a taste of the soup and spit it out. I think the cook, who was a woman, was playing some kind of game back in the kitchen. It was the most foul, disgusting thing I've ever tasted. My husband didn't want to make a scene, so we paid the waitress and left with what the cook called food, sitting on the table. Just shameful, shameful. The bar must be how they stay in business.

Two words: Never again. Poor menu selection and it took 75 minutes to get two salads and the salmon entré. Don't waste your evening there.

This spot is really bad. Some of the people were nice but there was this older lady that was somewhat racist and rude. We ordered hush puppies and she came out and asked a table who ordered them and we raised our hands and she said “Oh, no..they couldn’t have”. And this lady took our food back to the kitchen to let someone else serve us (mind you we had to wait an additional 15 minutes). It made us really mad and we felt super offended. They will never be getting our money again. But the food was okay.

We’ve been coming here off and on for past 7 years. Port Tobacco Restaurant started out as a great hidden gem with good atmosphere, food and crabs. I think management has changed for the worse. Last year through this year PTR has turned into a trashy bar with HORRIBLE food and HORRIBLE service. Twice 2020 and 2021 separate occasions we waited long for food because “kitchen is backed up” , so finally when waitress comes back to check on us, they are out of most things on menu. At our Last visit hostess sat us in a dark area on the deck, we didn’t want to sit inside because it looked so rundown and just nasty. Also the bathroom has a huge fly infestation. The crab cakes were not fresh there were little pieces of lump meat but the rest was mushy and tasted like old crab meat. I hated my experience there and will never go back or refer anyone else. The owner needs a complete overhaul of this place. it’s so sad because the location is so beautiful but the dining experience is the worst! Lastly, they serve everything on cheap plastic (plates, cups, utensil). I hated that I even wasted my money. Please Find another place that will value your patronage and serve you well.
