We were sailing up the Potomac river and anchored for the evening on Port Tobacco River. We found this restaurant had a dock we could dinghy to for dinner. The food and entertainment that night was worth it. A word of warning, the power boaters...through a lot of wake going up the river. And stay in the channel when getting close to the docks because even the dinghy will get stuck in the sallows.More

Visited on a Saturday night. Arrived around 6:30. Plenty of seating at the bar. No wait! Bartender, Kim was great! Attentive and polite. Drinks were good. Food was average, basic bar food for sure. The pulled pork sandwich arrived with no BBQ sauce. Also the...burger was over cooked. The Wedge salad, skip it. Presentation was awful, all the toppings (bacon, tomatoes etc.) came in little soufflé cups, not on the salad. It was a DIY salad, very strange! I don't like the fact everything was served on plastic plates with cheap utensils as well. View was great! Dog friendly! Live music!More

We’ve been coming here off and on for past 7 years. Port Tobacco Restaurant started out as a great hidden gem with good atmosphere, food and crabs. I think management has changed for the worse. Last year through this year PTR has turned into a...trashy bar with HORRIBLE food and HORRIBLE service. Twice 2020 and 2021 separate occasions we waited long for food because “kitchen is backed up” , so finally when waitress comes back to check on us, they are out of most things on menu. At our Last visit hostess sat us in a dark area on the deck, we didn’t want to sit inside because it looked so rundown and just nasty. Also the bathroom has a huge fly infestation. The crab cakes were not fresh there were little pieces of lump meat but the rest was mushy and tasted like old crab meat. I hated my experience there and will never go back or refer anyone else. The owner needs a complete overhaul of this place. it’s so sad because the location is so beautiful but the dining experience is the worst! Lastly, they serve everything on cheap plastic (plates, cups, utensil). I hated that I even wasted my money. Please Find another place that will value your patronage and serve you well.More

Arrived at 5:45, got on "the list" for dinner for three. Was told "about 20-30 minutes for seats on the deck. We sat in the outside lounge area where we could see most tables on the deck dining area. After about 35 minutes, we noted...about three empty tables on the deck and had watched about 4-5 groups leave the deck area. After 45 minutes, we went back to the hostess to ask how much longer. She said "you are #3 on the list". We STILL could see about 4 now-empty tables with more just out of sight. We noted about 7-8 groups leave the deck area and still we were not called. At 7:05, we gave up and left to eat elsewhere. At 7:15, they called on our cell to seat us - about an hour and a half delay!!!...with multiple empty tables in sight!!!! (we were walking into another restaurant by then!) I hope this was because they were short-staffed, if not, this is no way to run a business!!! I seriously doubt we will ever return.More

We came for dinner, seeking fried oysters. We got an oyster dinner w/ 2 sides ($15.99) and blacken fish tacos ($10,99) and a bowl of Cream of crab soup ($6.99). Oysters (a doz!) were fried with a crispy coating and were not greasy, sides were...generous. Tacos (3) were fair-sized and had a nice chunk of fish on them along w/ slaw and celantro. The soup was a good portion and was kinda thick for my tastes, it had some crab meat in it as well as some sherry on top Our server, Stormy, was on the ball and keep us supplied w/ drink refills and anything else we needed. Overall a good dinner out. W/ iced tea and pepsi. total bill was $2 w/o tip. Crabs looked good but were $45/doz and Jumbos were $65/doz. Several people were eating them.More

We visited by boat for the first time in a few years. I will say I was pleasantly surprised by all of the new tables and umbrellas on the deck. We sat under a tent at a picnic style table. Many of the menu items...sounded good but I wasn't too happy about everything coming with chips and "no substitutions allowed". I asked the waitress if they were homemade chips & she said no, they were store bought. So my suggestion would be to either make homemade chips or offer other side dish options. We all ended up ordering appetizers anyhow so I got coconut shrimp and a side of onion rings. The coconut shrimp were tasty! We visited during the pandemic - we went inside to use the restroom & there was nobody sitting inside and no seats at the bar, which is good. The servers did wear masks although ours kept hers under her nose, which makes no sense. But, our food was good, service was pretty good. We'll likely be back. I also wish they had a drink menu, only advertising crushes, beer, and 2 frozen drinks.More

Met up with a friend for lunch. For some reason this place came up. It turned out to be perfect. Outside dining with tables far apart, and great view of water. I had fish tacos which were great and my friend had the oyster dinner...which she also said was good. The waitress was cheerful and attentive. Lots of boaters coming and going but still felt comfortable at our table.More

Easy parking - two entrances and loads of space between tables outside with umbrellas and shade. Menu was seafood based and we ordered crabs - mixed sizes all succulent! And fish tacos - also very good. The beers were cold and the cocktails awesome -...the Bloody Mary was possibly the best I have ever seen. And prices were about right. Good efficient service and friendly. We will definitely go back there. Very nice to be right on the water also. They werent taking reservations but get there early and you’ll have a table no problem.More

PTM is defintely a place to go for the food and drink. You can get there by boat, it is just off the Potomac river. You can eat out on the. deck with a excellent view of mother nature.

I must say, the hush puppies w/honey butter are excellent. We liked the smoky flavor of the pulled pork. The fried oysters were slightly better than average, but the onion rings were over cooked. Chicken tenders were very moist, but could use a little more...seasoning. Beautiful views. We’ll try the Crabcake and shrimp next visit.More

Perfect day to take off work and drive up as I have been wanting to check this restaurant out. We arrived as they opened, loved the scenery, enjoyed friendly service and the food. Just got a couple beers. Shrimp tacos and wings to share. Nice...campground and marina. Can see why this would be a popular place on the weekends.More

We came by boat with friends. Our friends said Port Tobacco Restaurant is where many of the local boaters go for a decent meal on the river. I read some of the reviews on Trip Advisor and was a little concerned. We were pleasantly surprised....The food was really good. The hush puppies and crab pretzel were excellent. I had the pork tacos and they were good as well. I should have asked for slaw to go with them. Overall we had a great experience. My wife said she would go there just to get the hush puppies!More

Oysters were Terrible! Service not very good(slow and not attentive). Limited selection on menu. And what self-respecting so maryland has no cream of crab - only soup option was vegetable crab.
