Hardware Cafe has been our favorite neighborhood dinner spot for many years... during our frequent visits we could always depend on great service, a fun "West Village" vibe, and yummy, reasonably priced (and often creative) dishes from their tiny kitchen. But recent changes have us...concerned. On a visit earlier this week, we found what can only be described as glaring cost cutting measures... cloth dinner napkins were replaced by cheesy paper luncheon napkins... the selection of four dinner specials was whittled down to two... and VERY skimpy drinks (the cocktail glass was not much bigger than a shot glass and contained no more than a half ounce of bourbon.) Fortunately, Tracy's friendly, terrific service hasn't changed. Hoping the ownership will correct the problems SOON. Otherwise I'm afraid we'll need to find a new "favorite" Allentown dinner spot.More

It was our pleasure to attend a wedding reception in the dining hall in the former hardware store that offers casual dining with a heaping side of friendly hospitality. We were early, but the staff let us in the side door and still seated us,...even though they were not yet fully set up, and promptly served us drinks. The buffet had outstanding vegetarian options, as well as fruits, cold meats, cheeses, and some of the best "sliders" around. We will look forward to our next visit.More

We had dinner here, family of four with two preteens. The food and service were great. With quite a few vegetarian options, this is a cool neighbourhoody type place with some good local taps available. Would definitely recommend.

After enjoying live music at Nietche’s, we decided to go to Hardware for some great food. Well their CRAWFISH CHOWDER WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. And the service of course was great. But the chowder?!! To die for.

Love downtown Buffalo restaurants with casual dress, inviting atmospheres and friendly staff. Stopped in for the first time because of their menu during restaurant week. Small and cozy seating however, very loud patrons at the bar. Hostess and waitress were super friendly and attentive. Our...meal started with a field greens salad, tomatoes, red onion, blue cheese crumbles and a balsamic vinaigrette. No complaints here. My husband and I both ordered the 8 ounce sirloin fillet, medium. The fillet was delicious, tender and well seasoned. Accompanied with roasted red potatoes and grilled asparagus. Our meals were delicious! Front room tables have windows to people watch. Always interesting. I recommend.More

Yes, it's a bar/restaurant, not a hardware store, despite what Google might tell you. Very good and broad menu, more than healthy portions, attentive wait staff. Great place for burgers.

Nice dive bar atmosphere, old building, lively clientele, good service. Wanted the buttermilk fried chicken, but tried the Catfish Poboy sandwich. OK, but slightly bland. The bread was similar to a baguette and the sauce was good, just wish it was a little spicier. But...the best deal was the drink, a Double Chocolate Stout from England was only $5. Good deal. Divebar gastropub divine.More
