What a great place!!!!! Food was so delicious, great vibe!! Service was completely on point and the bar staff was so friendly! The one Bartender made me a drink called the Art Basil! Delicious and refreshing. Highly recommend!
I AGREE WITH THIS REVIEW 100% To Templeton Landing management..........Has your corporation headquarters seen these reviews? Has anyone come to Buffalo to address these issues? This is probably one of only a few restaurants on Buffalo's waterfront, and I must say a beautiful area and...a beautiful building. What a loss. If you could only figure out how to solve your service. Unfortunately I did not look at the reviews prior to recommending Templeton Landing. In the past myself, my family and friends shared some enjoyable memories at this restaurant. The only thing they followed through on, as per the contract, was providing the food, drink, and waitstaff service. None of the other details in the contract were provided. There was no sign for our event. There was no one at the restaurant to meet us and show us to the Buffalo Room, where our event was booked. The restaurant was dark and empty as if closed for the season. There were no centerpieces on the tables. The AV equipment wasn’t set up and the room was freezing. After getting the run around we were able to talk with the district manager. “That was useless.” It appears that this restaurant is going down fast. I wish I would of recommend another venue.More
My sincere apology for the bad experience at our restaurant. Thank you for the feedback. We will correct the issues.
I live in Virginia. Buffalo is my hometown. I chose to have my mother’s Celebration of Life Repast at Templeton Landing because of the connection family members have with the restaurant. It’s one of my cousin’s favorite places. My uncle, who is a retired appellate...court judge, frequents the restaurant and took my mother there the last time she visited our hometown. He’s well known in Buffalo and such a regular the restaurant dedicated a chair to him with his name on it. I worked with their event planner who was responsive and professional. We worked out the details of what I’d need for the event. We asked several times to have the room made warmer. The thermostat indicated that “system heat is on.” The actual temperature indicated it was 53 in the room when we arrived. My husband raised it to 73 degrees when we arrived, but it only rose to 61 degrees by the end of our meal, 2 hours later. It was so cold in the room hardly anyone took advantage of the cash bar. We have pictures of the thermostat and tables. Most everyone was drinking hot tea and sitting with their coats on. After repeated requests from our party to raise the room temperature staff set up two heaters while we were finishing dessert. Some service. Despite Templeton Landing’s reputation as a high-end restaurant, they did a poor job with our event. What makes it worse is the response we’ve been getting from the management. We were put in touch with our event planner’s boss. Derrick finally got in touch and offered us a $200 gift certificate as compensation which we found insulting. Waiting for him to respond meant he never did when he said he would, always a day or so later. We told him what we thought would be fair compensation. It’s been four days and no response. This is a restaurant owned by people who are not local. The event planner didn’t seem to be local. She didn’t know who my uncle was, one of their regulars. Derrick, we were told, lives in Florida and the corporation is in California. They have no connection to Buffalo or to the people who frequent their establishment. While the food for our event was good it cooled down fast due to cold plates and cold room temperature. Good customer service must not be one of their corporate values given how they are handling the fact they didn’t live up to their side of the contract. For that reason, they don’t deserve more than one star.More
We recently celebrated a special occasion with about 14 friends/family members and the service was excellent as well as the food. If you are looking for a place to host a party I would highly recommend Templeton Landing. Beautiful views of the marina, great food,...and the staff is very friendly and will take great care of you!!More
We went here on Friday for dinner. My boyfriend was shocked to see how many reservation times were available for a beautiful Friday night in Buffalo. We arrived at 7 for our 7:15 reservation to a sea of people in the lobby waiting to be...checked in. The host was very polite and welcoming, but it was apparent he was very stressed out. From the banter between employees it sounded like maybe the online reservations weren’t synching to the system properly, thus reservations showing up without the restaurant knowing they’re supposed to have a table? Right before we were taken to our table, another employee came up to the host and argued to stop seating people because they were over crowded and there weren’t enough staff to take care of everyone. Not a great sign, understandable to an extent, but not a great thing to say (or scream) in front of customers. When our waitress came to the table, she started off polite but this very quickly changed. My boyfriend ordered an appetizer and I had told him to just order his entree at the same time as we were ready to order. For a split second, there was some confusion as to what I had meant, when our waitress abruptly said “Would you just order?! I’m busy.” We watched staff deliver incorrect meals to incorrect tables, ours included, and when she stopped back to the table to ask how our appetizer was, my boyfriend asked if there was an event or a mixer inside due to everyone wearing name tags. The waitress proceeded to complain to us that the “restaurant overbooks every single night,” how “the management just crams as many bodies into the place as they can,” how the restaurant “was an hour and a half behind on tables and how everyone’s being waitlisted so I’ll be stuck here until midnight most likely having to deal with tables.” Our meal was just okay, and seemed overpriced for what we got. Unfortunately her attitude left an awful taste in my mouth, not to mention she couldn’t be bothered to speak to the one other person at the table and only spoke to my boyfriend the entire time we were there. If I asked for anything I was met with attitude. Each trip back to the table included more complaints about her job, and when she asked if we needed anything, any ask (even a water) seemed to be such an inconvenience to her. Dinner for two cost $150 (which turned out to be a therapy session for our waitress). Looks like we won’t be back any time soon if this is how the staff chooses to speak to (or rather ignore) customers.More
great atmosphere, the bartenders are very friendly, sometimes it gets too busy and it becomes difficult to get an adult beverage
There is much to share here both good and bad for my very first visit. The food, strangely we had a choice of only two entrees, a fish fry which was just ok, or a stupendous mushroom Alfredo. The fish came dark brown, over fried...which made it tough ( yes if fish could be tough this was). Completely the opposite… The mushroom Alfredo was excellent. Order with the side of chicken. Now for service… My introduction to T Landing was at the bar, again not the best experience. I was alone and took the only stool in the full bar area. Soon all the people around me had been served or talked to as they were groups or couples. When a new couple came and took two recently open seats they were warmly greeted and served within a minute. At the point they were given their drinks I inquired if I could order. I probably should not have shared my irritation at the ten plus minute wait. Not sure why I was ignored but there was no apology provided when the beer was gruffly placed next to me without a coaster or napkin. IMHO… The management here needs to provide some training to the crew on decorum when a difficult moment arises. Last negative comment, the room we were in was cold, est 4-5 degrees colder than the main dining room. Last positive comment, our server Bobby O was a great young man and we all enjoyed his work and personality. To conclude Templeton Landing you have some work to do to match the wonderful lakefront location you possess.More
Food was just okay, service was terrible. The inside is dated. They get customers because of the view, have a drink on the patio and go to dinner someplace else.
Love the outside venue. So special to sit outside and look out at the boats. A nice way to cap off an evening, like we do it every year. But this time we could not just grab a seat by an empty fire pit, and...were sent to the far end where the outside bar was not operating. Tables were not cleaned off, empty drink glasses still on them, full garbage can sitting in the center of walkway, chairs tipped over and seemed thrown about . Very sad.More
Went for dinner. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I’m surprised by how many people were waiting to be seated at this restaurant. We’re they unaware first-timers like me? Do they come for the overhyped canal side location? I wonder if they had the...same bad experience as I did. Menu was very limited. Daughter’s burger had hard bits in it. The one pasta dish offered was not available. Not sure how you run out of the pasta dish. Lobster tails maybe, but not pasta. Ordered a salad with grilled chicken instead. $6.00 to add one tasteless chicken cutlet to a bland, watery salad. The cocktail I ordered didn’t taste like it had any alcohol in it. The whole place looked a little dirty inside. Needs a good dusting, wiping, window cleaning and vacuuming. Only upside was our server. He and all the other servers seemed friendly, and were hustling to take care of their customers.More
We had reservations and could have immediately sat inside but we were willing to wait for an outdoor table. Very happy we did as we had a great waitress named Ellissa (not sure on spelling of name) who was very pleasant, knew her menu and...was quite bubbly even though it looked as though they were fully booked that day and most likely short handed (most restaurants are experiencing a shortage of workers since covid-19). Ellissa acknowledged us (even though her hands were full from clearing a table) and said she would be right back for our drink and appetizer order. Upon her return we place our drink and appetizer order and she answered all our questions regarding the entrees. She could tell we were still undecided and said that she would give us a couple of more minutes while she put in the rest of the order. Upon her return with the drinks we placed our order: Pepperdelle Pasta with mushroom, Perch with veggies/potatoes, Filet Mignon with potatoes and a Templeton Landing Burger. All entrees were wonderful with the exception of the Pasta. It had not taste and seemed to be lacking either garlic, red pepper flakes or both. The appetizers we had New England clam chowder, Calamari and truffle fries were all spot on. We would like to give kudos to Ellissa as she was very professional and inviting even though it was obvious that they were very busy. Templeton is very lucky to have Ellissa as well a the other staff we encountered that evening. No one was slacking or giving the impression that they would rather be home.More
The prices here are very high in comparison to the quantity and quality of the food! The service was horrendous however our server tried hard. Don’t be fooled by the location. This place is a dump.
THEY STEAL FROM CUSTOMERS! NEVER EVER EVER go here!!!!! They charged me DOUBLE than what I signed for. They have an automated answering system so I was unable to get ahold of anyone to resolve the issue. I had to drive 40 mins to speak...with Clayton (the GM)... who didn't do anything nor cared that I was an angry customer that was charged wrong and drove all that way for him to say "dispute it with your bank sorry". As I was walking into the restaurant another family had the same issue. They charge you for items you do not order or receive. Great atmosphere, terrible mangement and customer service. I will make sure to tell everyone I know to never go here. Never charge at this restaurant, they STEAL!More
