Three of us had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon - arrived just when they opened and were seated outside. Right away we were told we all needed to place three separate meal orders - which I am not sure is even a requirement (thought...it was just we had to order food of any kind as the law states: Under state law, establishments licensed to sell alcoholic beverages must serve food. The food item must be purchased at the same time as the initial alcoholic beverage. Shareable food items may be purchased, according to the guidance, but they must "sufficiently serve the number of people in the party."). But that was not even the worst part! As we neared the end of our meal, we had paid our bill, but one person had still not finished their drink when one of the waitresses asked us if we could leave soon, because people were waiting for tables!! I have NEVER been asked to leave at a restaurant because of such a reason!!!! I was shocked, angry and appalled!!! I said I did not understand because there were two other empty tables near us on the patio - she said they were reserved - to which I replied, that was on them to decide to open them, not us! There were tons of empty tables inside as well!! I told her that was completely rude and the worst type of customer service possible - she apologized and offered us a couple of "$3 off your next order" coupons - which we left on the table since we plan to NEVER go back there again. By the way, the food was just OK anyway.....More

I was happy to enjoy Gramma Mora's delicious sopa! Our meals were good (chicken ranchero and a beef burrito). Our margaritas were small for the price, but tasty. Our server was very friendly, but our service was very slow. After our food was delivered (we...waited 25 minutes after ordering), we had to flag someone down to get our check as no one ever came back. We also observed a car waiting for take out for over 30 minutes.More

10 - 15 years ago this was the "go-to"Mexican restaurant in town. As others have commented, the efficient & friendly service doesn't overcome the mediocre food today. It has been a few years since we have been here and it definitely is not the tasty...& satisfying fare we remember.More

We stopped in last night after work and before heading to the grocery store after hearing about this place from numerous people. The best thing we can say about Gramma Mora's was the service was good - friendly, attentive and fast. The restaurant itself is...in need of upkeep as is the menu - our dinners, while hot were average at best. My wife went with the carnitas which were four fried flour tortillas containing flavorful pork that was not carnitas meat. The Jules Enchilada Combo I chose had two red Chile enchiladas, lackluster rice and extremely dry refried beans. Great location on Hertel that clearly is not the Buffalo institution it once was.More

After going to the North Park Theater to see a movie, we walked about a half a block down to Gramma's for dinner with another couple. We haven't been there in over twenty years and the Mrs and I were looking forward to having a...great Mexican meal with our friends, who were from out of town. To say the least, we were disappointed. It certainly was not the place we remembered. While the restaurant definitely has the Mexican flare, the background music was rock and roll, not Mexican. Why? The food was very average, the chips were too salty to eat, and the very average review was everyone's opinion at the table. There was nothing, food wise, that was outstanding, that would make us want to come back, or, want to bring out of towners to showcase Buffalo. The only bright spot was our waitress who was attentive and friendly. It's definitely not the Gramma's we remembered or, the review I thought I'd be writing. With so many restaurant choices on Hertel Avenue, you might do better elsewhere for Mexican.More

We used to go to Gramma Mora's all the time twenty years ago. Back then, it was the only game in town but this is no longer the case. We happened to be in the Hertel area and decided to give it another try for...a light dinner. I had the chorizo tostadas. They were cold and tasteless. My wife had some sort of Mexican salad which was blah! Our server was attentive at first but quickly vanished. We couldn't figure out where she went because they were not crowded. After waiting well over ten minutes for a second beer, I went to the bar and got my own. The complimentary chips were extremely over salted.More

The drinks are good, mostly a tequila bar. I order the same meal every time, steak chimichanga, it's always (with one exception) good.

I was in the area & picked up lunch to-go. I was not disappointed - food was ready on time & pipping hot. I got a fish taco & a kids chix taco with beans. It was great & filling - the fish taco was...excellent. Would recommend!More
