Freezing on the patio. Could see our breathe. Great server. Left halfway thru dinner. Wear carharts.

This is our go-to place. The ambiance is great with the brick walls, white tablecloths and close proximity to the bar action. Make a reservation well in advance. Get there early. Sit at one of the best bars in Buffalo. Check in early. Seat as...scheduled. Just chill. The menu is varied and by and large the food is excellent. If the server rushes you or is inattentive, and it is a rarity but it happens, say something to the hostess. This is a Buffalo classic in an unassuming atmosphere. Just chill and enjoy.More

The food was excellent, we really enjoyed it. The menu is amazing, with many interesting choices. One steak was underdone from what was ordered but it was still excellent. The service was incredibly bad. Neglectful doesn't even get there. Beyond the pale. I get that...it was Saturday dinner time and it was busy but the server was terrible. Seconds after our food was dropped off, we were asked, how is everything? I'd had one pea pod at that point. That was the last we saw of anyone other than the bus person until LONG after we had finished eating. No drink refills. No chance to report that one of the steaks was significantly underdone. We had intended to stay for coffee and dessert but it took so long for the server to come and half heartedly ask if we wanted anything that we thought it best to leave. When the check finally came, it was wrong. It took another 15-20 minutes to get that sorted out. We tried to talk to the host person on the way out but they asked us to wait a moment and then didn't come back. We left after five minutes of waiting. This was meant to be a celebration. It was an evening that all four of us had looked forward to for weeks. Two of us had been there before so we knew it to be excellent but not this time.More

I dined at Mother’s with my girl friends as we were in Buffalo for a concert. It was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is on the smaller side and very elegant with white tablecloths and a single taper candle on each table. The staff is...friendly, accommodating a knowledgeable. The food is delicious. All in all a great place and highly recommendedMore

From what I understand this is where local chefs and restaurant owners go to eat. I have visited twice for drinks and some meatloaf take out. Food and drinks are good at a fai price. Atmosphere is nice and people friendly. Recommend a visit for...any out of towners looking for something out of the limelight. CheersMore

We've eaten at Mother's a handful of times now, and always and only at the bar. Every time we receive great service and outstanding food. Granted we haven't done the sit down, big meal kind of dinner with wait staff. What we have experienced we...are delighted with, and will continue to visit. The atmosphere is truly unique, almost throw-back decor to the 90s with low lighting. We find it to be a hoot as well as charming.More

According to my friend, this place is supposed to be amazing. Therefore, It was added to my culinary exploration of Buffalo. Needless to say, it was a disappointment. The interior of the restaurant is very interesting, with a rough brick almost underground basement feel. I...got a chance to really examine my surroundings because the service was extremely slow. We ordered the stuffed mushroom and warm artichoke dip for appetizers. These were both okay, but not exceptional. The big surprise was my salad. I ordered the salad with beets, mushrooms, fennel, and Gorgonzola. When I received it, I was hard pressed to find any of these ingredients besides the lettuce and beets. For my $10, I was presented with an appetizer plate with a quarter size lump of cheese, maybe one mushroom (I couldn’t find it), and non existent fennel. It was late, I was tired and hungry, so I ate it, I paid for it, but I won’t repeat this experience. I left hungry, and angry at the price.More

I've always wanted to try it and have to say I wish I hadn't waited so long! There are many regulars who visit the bar and we were made to feel just like one of them - we were on a first name basis by...the time we left. We started with drinks at the bar and then moved in to the dining room for dinner. Good, old vibe decor and comfortable seating. A varied menu. I started with shrimp cocktail (3 HUGE shrimp) and then had the salmon (simple, fresh and delicious). I ended with a perfect chocolate cake (brought in from Dessert Deli in Williamsville). My husband had oysters (great) and a bread basket with pesto, goat cheese, olives (good). He had the stuffed pork chop that was delicious but a tad overcooked. He had red velvet cake (also from Dessert Deli). We both had coffee that tasted like it had been sitting on the warming plate for 5 hours (hence, not good). They should offer some good, fresh coffee (Keurig's are cheap!). Table service was good.More

Slow service. Wines by the glass were below average quality. Do they taste them before they put them on the wine list? Bread was “interesting” but took a long time to arrive. Disinterested waiter. Appetizers and salads took long time. Trout appetizer was tasty. Not...sure if there was a change in management or ownership. We like the ambience.More
