We we’re staying at the hotel for four nights, and came careening into the dining room after an all-day plane flight at 8:40pm given they close at 9:00pm. The staff were warm and welcoming, and we had an excellent server named Cynthia who made our...dining experience wonderful. I had the lobster bisque and beet salad, one son had the Walleye fish, and other son the soup of the day which was corn poblano. Hot bread & butter on the table, and a yummy cocktail to compliment the meal. Everything was delicious, and the staff were a delight. The dining room itself is really attractive too. A+ on the service, meals, and ambiance - what a treat ! Breakfast was fantastic too, we ate all our meals here each morning.More

We were staying in the Rough Riders Hotel, so Theodore's was really convenient for us. We had breakfast there twice and dinner once. Every meal was excellent, and the service was really great.

This is Medora’s upscale restaurant. The overall dining experience was very good. The fresh bread with the meal was delicious as it tasted almost like a sweet white bread. I had a beat salad and grilled chicken with a honey mustard sauce. The chicken was...dry and my only complaint. I had the cheesecake and brownie and both were delicious. Overall a good time and worth checking out.More

Everything was excellent and the service was outstanding. I ate at the bar and everything came out perfectly timed and prepared. I met so many people from all over the country who love great food, great drinks, and real American values and appreciate great service....Want to reconnect with real Americans? Top notch restaurant. Very classy. Lovely atmosphere. I had filet which was the best I’ve eaten in a long time. Hubby has bison occo busso. He enjoyed that as well. The desert sticky toffee pudding was fabulous. Our server was Lucia and she was friendly...and efficient. Wish we were staying one more night so we could back again.More

This was our first meal in Medora the night we got in. It was easy for us as the restaurant was directly under our historic room, the restaurant is the entire first floor of the original hotel building. Everyone enjoyed there food and drinks. I...had the Bison Ossobuco which was good with an Old Fashion to drink that went well with the dinner. However, it was the pork belly appetizer that was a favorite of the table. Unlike, another writer, we had great service, a Argentine waiter who had food and drinks coming perfectly. They are currently not taking reservations for tables under 8, but I went downstairs and put our name on the list so we had a table when our entire party arrived. Overall it was a very good meal.More

Good food however Rated it as 3 because of a rude waiter named Luciano. This is my 6th time visiting Medora, & we brought a new friend. Had breakfast here, we were third on the line of people who went on to find ourselves a...table. Nobody at the entrance & no sign that says “wait to be seated”. But when we asked him if do we just come & seat ourselves, he said “NO!” Which all of us four in the group really thought, he was rude & unfriendly. It was not that busy that time, several tables unoccupied so no reason to be stressed that morning. Then we just realized, our food was served late compared to the other two parties who we came in the same time. I lived in NORTH DAKOTA for 7 yrs & proud to say that people there are supposed friendly & welcoming. But you just cant believe one person could ruin that picture, esp on a place/tourist spot where people from other states come to visit. It was a sunday MORNING of sept5. Nobody should start the day in a bad mood esp on a holiday weekend. You just wish no other Medora Visitors would experience such rudeness from a waiter. Watch your intonation, darling! To sandwich this review with a good ending, we love the food, i had, “theodore’s favorite”.More

I had the prime rib medium. It was delicious as always and the staff is amazing. They explained to us that they’ve only been open a couple of weeks due to staffing issues. They hit a home run with us.

They do not yet have adequate culinary staff so they have not yet opened the dining room. This comment is based on the notice on the door.

Had hoped to have dinner here the first night of our visit but they were, unfortunately, closed because of a labor shortage. Luckily they reopened the morning of the last day of our visit so we could enjoy a wonderful breakfast before leaving. My husband...enjoyed the biggest omelet I have ever seen served and he said it and the sides of breakfast potatoes and pancakes were all delicious. I chose the RumChata French toast, it was beautifully presented, and out of this world delicious. We appreciated the social distancing, the servers wearing masks, and the cleanliness of this beautiful dining room. Our server was great, checked on us often and the service from being seated to ordering and being served was quick. Will definitely be back to eat here again on our next visit to our favorite ND destination.More

According to the sign on the door “Closed due to labor shortage” with no indication as to when the restaurant might reopen. Very disappointed on 9/7/20.

We ate breakfast here the last two mornings of our trip. I have to say, it was excellent! I’ve never had a better omelet! I ordered the veggie omelet, minus mushrooms, plus bacon.....🤦🏼‍♀️ I know. But it was hot, the veggies were so fresh, and...it satisfied me for the whole day! My (picky) son said his chocolate chip pancake was awesome! First mornings service was better than the 2nd, but still a hotspot to go to if you want a fantastic breakfast! Maybe order your bacon a bit more crispy.....but that’s the only “kimplaint” I can say.More

Have you tried 1-701-623-4830? Another might be 1-800-medora. There's also an AmericInn there...8445814982. The Rough Rider Hotel is 1-701-623-4444 and also The Badlands Motel (same number). Hope this helps.
