This was such a hidden gem! We were just walking around downtown Flag and happened to look up and see this place on the second floor of one of the buildings. We decided to go in and we were so happy we did. We were just visiting for a long weekend and went to this place two nights in a row -- that's how much we enjoyed the vibe, wine, and food!
They have a vast collection of wines from all over the world and at different price points (lower end to very expensive) so everyone can taste and afford a wine that's right for them. They also have tons of games you can request to play so we had a blast playing clue and cards! The food was also delicious and the staff were very kind and knowledgeable about the wines. The best part was, there were plenty of customers, but it was not overcrowded or noisy. It is a wonderful place to hang out!

I had a really great experience this summer at FLG Terroir.
The term “hidden gem” gets tossed around so often these days that it is essentially meaningless. Rare is the restaurant that truly is both hidden and a gem – but FLG Terroir is both.
Tucked *above* street level and accessed by a single street level door, it does not present much curb appeal, but that is corrected soon enough when at the top of the staircase you enter the long cozy room lined with wine bottles. Its massive wine list is deep, broad, and very thoughtfully curated – it is studded with affordable gems found nowhere else. The owner’s knowledgeable passion for wine shines bright here.
The food was equally rewarding. Though at first the menu appeared “randomly eclectic”, as the evening unfolded it seemed to me the unifying thread was the food’s suitability to the wine. We started with a dozen each of the two varieties of oysters on offer and both were remarkably bright. One appropriately briny, the other nutty: both at the peak of freshness. (We were later told the oysters are overnighted in several times a week). I am pretty picky about oysters and these were top-notch! Two very knowledgeable and friendly staffers suggested a gruner-veltliner and the Laurent-Perrier champagne, and both were on point with the oysters we enjoyed.
Up next was a seemingly humble roast chicken thigh and leg with another outstanding suggested wine pairing of the value priced Lenotti Valpolicella Classico. Just . . . wow!
Of course we could not pass up the Pedro Ximenez ice cream – I mean, come on, who even does that! – with the Hartley & Gibson pedro ximenez. It was fantastic.
I cannot wait until my next visit to explore the rest of the menu and wine list – it will take many visits!

What an incredible experience at this wine bar-restaurant. The owner Fred can help in picking out a wine among hundreds of bottles available, based on what you want. The wine bottle prices are very reasonable. They also have some lovely dishes to have while you relax in a very comfortable upstairs loft. We tasted a very delicious squash tamale, buttered beans with homemade bread. The deserts are made "in house" & the chef is all about fresh quality ingredients. We visited twice during a three night holiday & would of made it three times if they were open on Sundays!

As a restaurant owner, I know times are tough and I manage my expectations accordingly, but this establishment should cease operating as a restaurant and offer only bar snacks. They were out of virtually every food item our party of 5 attempted to order so we defaulted to the few items on the menu that were available. Most of those (with the exception of the soup) were inedible. The bartender who also entered the orders and was knowledgeable about wine (maybe the owner?) was apologetic and seems like a nice guy, so hopefully he can reset customer expectations by reimagining his operating model.

Thank you for your review, GremlinSonoma. You're right, FLG Terroir is not a restaurant. We're a wine bar that serves food. TripAdvisor lists us with restaurants because they don't have a category for bars that serve food, and so people began reviewing us in the restaurant category. We do try to encourage our patrons to keep see us as something other than a restaurant, but it's sometimes difficult to temper those expectations.
I apologize for your experience on the night you came into our establishment. It was an unusually busy night. Unfortunately, you came at a time when Flagstaff sees an influx of new and returning students come into town for the beginning of the school year at Northern Arizona University, as well as a continuing influx of out-of-town visitors escaping from the heat down in the desert regions of Arizona and tourists on their way to and from the Grand Canyon. We underestimated the quantity of food to have on hand and the staff necessary to provide everyone who came through our doors that night with the excellent quality of experience that we strive to provide. Our kitchen is small (it is by necessity a hoodless kitchen), but it is unusual that we are unable to provide our patrons with the food items that we advertise on our menu.
We hope that you will understand that you caught us on a very busy night, and give us an opportunity on a return visit to provide you with the excellent food, wine and service that we are known for.

Excellent wine selection by the glass, or you can pick a bottle off the shelf at retail and add a modest corkage fee. Server was pleasant, helpful and knew the wines well. Cheese plate was delicious and tonight’s featured meatball app was yummy. They brought us extra crackers!

We are local residents of Flagstaff. This is absolutely our favorite place to visit for wine and snacks & any time we have company visiting from out of town it’s the first place we bring them. Their wine selection is impeccable, the food menu rotates seasonally and everything we’ve had there has been absolutely delicious and the staff are just so knowledgeable and lovely. We really enjoy the atmosphere as well. It’s just such a vibe.

He heard about this wine shop/wine bar, through a pod-cast - The Grape Nation. So while we were in Flagstaff we decided to check it out. They have an impressive wine list at very reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, they helped us select a perfect wine to pair with our food. So, pick a bottle to go or drink it there; the corkage fee is only $10. Cheers!

Entering the Lofty Delight of FLG Terroir began the transformation to another way of enjoying exquisite wine and delectable food. Geoffrey inquired about my tastes then described a French wine in such terms that were superlative. He offered me a taste so that I could distinguish between two offerings. WOW, was he spot on with his description! I ordered his recommendation and each sip was liquid gold to the palate. I stayed for a bite to eat. The Chef knows his products and how to pair them with accents that bring the fullness of flavor to the front of the profile. Each morsel was to be savored. The staff have job security...I will Return!!

We walked up to the second floor entrance and found a beautifully updated wine bar. They have a full menu of wines by the glass or bottle. The wine options really open up if you want to buy a bottle off their “wall of wines”. We started with fresh oysters followed with their 2 course pairing dinner. The light Italian wine was a perfect compliment with the bruschetta and chicken dish. For desert we tried several flavors of their homemade ice cream. All were very creamy and flavorful. The staff was great and very willing to help in picking out wines that fit your tastes. Overall, a very enjoyable evening.

My husband, son, and I came for drinks and a game. The atmosphere and concept of games and drinks is really nice. Music isn’t overpowering so you can hear each other talk. However, getting served is very confusing. We walked in and got a table near the window. No one came to wait on us so we went to the end of the bar. We stayed there a while but the bartender and manager (?) just kept looking at us. We figured out that we must have to go to the middle of the bar to order so we did. We ordered a a dessert, hot tea, soda, and glass of wine with a scrabble game. I was handed the wine. I waited for the other two drinks but the bartender didn’t say anything so I sat down at our table thinking he’ll bring them over. They never came so I went back up and the soda was sitting there. I asked about the tea and he said it was steeping. I got the game. I went back to the table and we started playing the game. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to go back up and get the dessert and tea but these were finally delivered. The butter cake was really delicious. We finished the dessert and piled the dishes on the side table since no one was bussing tables. They finally picked up the dishes when we were almost done. Overall, I think this could be an awesome place if they explained to customers how it works and actually talked to people.

Thank you for your review! We always want to hear when things don't live up to the standards we have set for ourselves so that we can troubleshoot the problem and do better in the future. It sounds like one of the critical steps we have in our relationships with all of our patrons as soon as they walk in the door didn't happen. You should have been met just inside the door and handed a menu, then advised to come to the bar when you were ready to order. When you did come up to order, the bartender should have been clearer about the fact that both the soda, which is home made, and the tea take longer to prepare for you. Since you asked for a game, the bartender may have assumed that you'd wish to take the game back to your table and come back for the other beverages. I apologize for the lack of clear communication by our staff. I also apologize for the wait to have your dishes bussed. Unfortunately, when things get busy the staff that busses tables are often pressed into other tasks for a short period, which may have been the case while you were there. We strive to provide better service than you received, and we hope you will give us the opportunity to demonstrate to you how we have improved by joining us for another evening at FLG Terroir sometime.

This place is so cute! We were leaving downtown to go find some late night food, when we saw this restaurant through a window, which was located on a second story in downtown. Service was brilliant, the bartender was very helpful and very knowledgeable about wines and the food menu. They also play vinyls. Such a cool vibe. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Flagstaff.

My husband and I always enjoy our visits to FLG Terroir. The owner is very knowledgeable about wine and his wife works with the chef to come up with innovative food offerings. We took our visiting adult daughter and her friend for q quick stop and ended up leaving two hours later having sampled great wine and food.

Our first time and won’t be our last. FLG sommelier was spot on with wine choices after only asking a couple questions. The tomato pie, panisse and tuna were perfect. Prices were very reasonable for the caliber of wine and food we enjoyed. We’ll probably return tomorrow.

Wonderful relaxed evening at Flg Terroir. Vast wine selection and beautiful location in a second story loft. Be sure to check out their wine wall! Knowledgeable and friendly staff can help guide you to choose a wine of your liking. We had the four small plates and wild boar stew; all excellent. The bacon wrapped dates paired well with the Chatteneau du Pape while the Wild boar stew went great with the Barolo. They also carry Belgian beer and have house made unique ice creams and desserts. We could tell by the convivial atmosphere that everyone was having a good time. Also noticed a high tech ventilation system to help with air exchange. Had a great time. We’ll be back.

What a fabulous concept AND execution! Just walk up the stairs at 17 N San Francisco Street and begin to smile! The side wall of the establishment is the equivalent of an excellent wine shop. You can, if you want, just go in and buy bottles of wine. But, don't miss the experience of drinking and eating here. Onlhy a $10 corkage fee over retail for a bottle of wine. And, the food is ecelctic and wonderful. The cheese and meat Charcuterie board is exceptional and the main corse offerings are delicious there were 3 of us and each had a different main. We were all really happy with our choices. And, the staff is delightful. Truly enjoyed the experience
