I had the pleasure of enjoying both breakfast and lunch at Abe's during my four day stay in Scranton in late September 2020. The food and service was wonderful. It's an authentic Jewish Deli similar to Katz's in New York, the Famous 4th Street in...Philadelphia or Attman's in Baltimore (you see, I'm a connoisseur of kosher delis). I had the hot pastrami on rye which was delicious. They have Dr. Brown's sodas. What's not to like? Oy, I'm kvelling! Go. Have something to eat. Leave the nice waitress a good tip. And don't forget to call your mother.More
Excellent Kosher Deli offers fine deli fare in the NY style with a Scranton flair. Try the Chopped Liver & Pastrami or the Corned Beef and Turkey, on rye bread of course. Large menu with combos of various kosher deli favorites. Friendly staff and interesting...locals from the downtown Scranton scene add to the dining atmosphere. Vegan and Dairy options are available as well.More
After visiting the local aquarium, we stopped at Abe's for lunch. Their food is always tasty. This time around, I tried one of the specials of the day - a salmon croquette with couscous and mixed vegetables. Very tasty! My husband had another special -...the beef brisket BBQ sandwich, and he also ordered a cup of potato mushroom soup. Excellent! Our grandson was looking forward to a delicious pastrami sandwich. He was not disappointed. The meat was piled high.
Prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly.More
Stopped here for lunch while traveling. . Chose take out so we could eat at a park. They did offer outdoor and social distance seating. . A little bit if a wait . . But it was busy. Staff was friendly. We all enjoyed our...sandwiches and pickles!More
We just found this place on a trip to Scranton. You can't be any more local than Abe's...and it's truly a Kosher deli! Yes, they had the usual menu items, yet I found the corned beef hash the best ever! Who knew?
Abe’s is an ok kosher deli. While not the NY/NJ quality I have had for years it was ok for Scranton PA. My salami and eggs were bland with thin small pieces of salami. Relatively small portion. Did the job but wasn’t great. Matzoh brei...was pancake style and also was ok. Tried a sample of the pastrami- the real key to any kosher deli. Also needed more garlic and spice and didn’t have the tasty fattyness needed to be great. Thank goodness for the CelRay soda, Joyva bars and packages black and white cookiesMore
Stopped for lunch based on local's suggestion and was not disappointed. Between us we enjoyed the Rueben, open-faced turkey and brisket, club sandwich, fries, and fun selection of drinks. Celery soda, who knew? friend enjoyed it. Great place for lunch!
I had a quick, and excellent, lunch at Abe's in Scranton. My waitress was extremely friendly, and very, very efficient. And what sandwich it was!! The corned beef Reuben was excellent...the high-stacked corned beef was almost proverbially melting in my mouth, and was very enjoyable...to eat. Definitely don't miss Abe's when in downtown Scranton!More
Cute spot in downtown Scranton. Parking is tricky but there are meters. Menu is what you'd expect from a Jewish deli, though the prices were a bit high for Scranton. My whitefish salad platter was fine, but not especially tasty. My fish had a falafal...platter and said it was better than average, but not great. The service was terrific, but two servers frequently checking on us, refilling coffee, etc.More
