3 steak meals were burnt all black. Very disappointing. Never had such a burnt well done steak anywhere. Not acceptable for a "fine dining" restaurant.More

Had a fantastic meal here tonight. We’re from NJ and this was our first fine in restaurant experience for almost 6 months. Very friendly waiting staff and simply excellent food. The French onion soup may be the best i ever tasted and the fish and...chips were also very good. My family were also very pleased with their food. Their selection of IPAs was also very good. Highly recommend this place and would definitely return!! Thank you.More
Covid has been a terrible blow to the restaurant business. Massachusetts has been cautious and disciplined in only allowing openings in a data driven and scientific way. Max's chose not to be involved in the takeout trade and was very conservative in its reopening schedule....I give them credit for putting the health and safety of their staff and customers first above a revenue stream. They now are offering both patio and inside dining and it has been worth the wait.
In a more fine grain rating system, I would rate them somewhere between Very Good and Excellent. They do what they do very well and consistently. That is especially true in the seafood department. The wait staff is always very pleasant but very transient. Whatever the reasons for the turnover, for me that is a negative. I'm not against new people, but a revolving door doesn't foster substance. That might be said of the kitchen too, but they consistently turn out dishes that are well crafted and are cooked perfectly.
The wine list is a bit narrow, but reasonably priced. The "glass" of wine is a bit thin; buying a bottle and taking home what you don't drink is a better value.
Tempting appetizers, tasty rolls upon request, attractive desserts, a well stocked bar, a moderately expensive restaurant by local standards, but worth it. The locals also like that there is ample free parking.
As part of a group of 11 restaurants, the Tavern maintains its own identity. The Group undoubtedly offers buying power, personnel depth, a marketing strategy, but pleasingly shuns a cookie cutter formula. Sadly, that means it is run by a Manager and not an Owner. The group can insure quality, but not character. It is a good and reliable place, and to my way of thinking would be even more admirable if some of the staff thought of it as a place to drop anchor, rather than a place to rotate through.More

This is right off the highway and very convenient. The food was excellent. The waiter was not particularly attentive so it took much longer than it should - so we ended up taking most of it with us. Would try it again.

Was staying at the hotel next door who recommended the restaurant. I made a reservation on opentable. Since the bar was not crowded i decided to eat at bar. Service was very good. Couldn’t decide between two dishes and the bartender recommended the Roasted Chicken....It was delicious very tasty and moist. Recommended this restaurantMore
My husband has lunch here every week, I decided to join him. It was a great experience. We sat at the bar and our server Mike was excellent. He greeted each person with a warm welcome and checked in often enough for you to feel...valued but not so often to be annoying. The food was excellent. My husband really enjoys their tuna tacos and I enjoyed the roasted chicken. It was a great lunch.More
