As the number one rated Italian spot in Springfield, I guess I went in with high expectations. Maybe the pizza is all its cracked up to be, but the rest of it was "meh", bordering on "Blah!" Again, we did not have pizza, which is...the star here, apparently. Dough looked really nice on all the pizzas we saw, but I skeptical about taste based on everything else. First of all, for a restaurant as expensive as this one, I did expect better taste. Calamari weight in at $17 for a decent portion. While the calamari was cooked well (not over or under), the breading was tasteless bordering on untasteful...all it tasted of was old cooking oil. Thick and tasteless like some breading at a crap clam shack. Needed salt, needed pepper, needed something. Served with marinara that was nothing to write about. Definitely a let down. We ordered the arancini appetizer, too. They were tasty and thoroughly cooked (with the cheese nicely melted inside). I had chicken parm...again, for $21 bucks the serving was not overwhelming. My chicken was tough and the breading was devoid of flavor. Their red sauce is really shallow with no depth of taste....utterly unimpressive and I don't see that it would cut it on a pizza. The meal wasn't terrible, but it was nothing but mediocre, at best. Wife had chicken Francais, which was tender but overwhelmingly lemony. Place was very busy and had some large parties spread out in the dining area. Had a wait of 10-15 mins when we got there at 10 of 8. THey have a waiting area with tables spread out for distancing. Service was efficient and friendly and our meal was delivered well with reasonable time in between courses to enjoy your salad, your apps and not get crowed with the main before you are ready. I'll go again for a pizza some time, but will not waste the time or the money on this place for an Italian meal.More

The key to food is consistency. All these years its been done least 98 percent. That very good. No one gets it 100 percent. But Red Rose is the best of the best hands down. Been going there for nearly 60 years. Well done....

Our first visit here and despite being in the middle of the Covid dark ages in Massachusetts. It was very refreshing to be in a restaurant that’s handling the ridiculous Covid operational restrictions placed upon them by the Governor Baker. Unlike so many restaurants in...the area that feel like a funeral home, Red Rose has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our server Kate was very professional and helped us with our food selections and she was spot on. She is professional and it’s clear the management spend time on training the staff for guest interaction. The food was excellent, the pasta was piping hot and cooked al dente. A miracle outcome in many “Italian” restaurants in the area but here it’s normal. The food is top quality American style Italian food and would actually hold its own if it was in Italy. We greatly enjoyed out dinner and will definitely go back.More

I first experienced the Red Rose as a child while stopping for dinner on the way up to New England from NY and have continued to make it a stop on my itinerary ever since. The pizza is simply amazing and you get to watch...the open kitchen behind big glass windows- nothing quite like it! The rest of the Italian food on the menu is amazing as well. Have to stop and try it.More

Excellent restaurant for pizza/Italian! Old time feel to the spot; excellent service! Pizza was excellent, my wife’s dinner was great! Must try! It looked like they did a great takeout business too!

Met friends for lunch, great time. Jamie our waitress, was on point. She gave some of the best service I've had in years! We first shared an appetizer of fried calamari, golden brown, crisp and delicious. My friend and I both had seafood marinara, and...asked it be prepared fra diavalo. the seafood was excellent, the fettuccini cooked perfectly aldente. The girls had a couple of chicken dishes, both very well made. Cappuccino's, homemade cannoli, and chocolate cake for dessert. Everything was done well. Highly recommend. The sauce here rivals my favorite place, Joe's of Ridgewood, in Queens, NYC. That's saying something!!More

Made the trek from Worcester to Springfield so that my grandsons new friends could have their first Red Rose pizza, and they did not disappoint. Although I would have preferred outdoor seating, we were socially spaced in the main dining room and has fabulous service...and food. Our waitress was JodiMore

The best pizza in western mass. The service is great and they are very speedy with takeout orders. Try the Hawaiian pizza!

Sometimes you have to wait and sometimes you to REALLY wait. But don't leave. The food and the service is outstanding. It's especially worth it if you're visiting the MGM Casino which is right next door.

I am an enthusiast of good pizza, and this place lived up to the tip we had been given. Pizza crust was excellent, veggies were fresh, etc. Even though the restaurant was completely full, the service staff were prompt. We were staying just across the...street at the MGM, so we did not have to park.More
