We eat here fairly often and enjoy the sushi and Thai items. Tonight decided to go Hibachi. The food was fine although the steak was tough. Rice and veggies very nice. The area of the hibachi table where we were seated had congealed food which stuck to my napkin. My wife's area got about the same; streaky cleaning. There was what looked like a dead worm on the grill edge. Probably a noodle. After our chef cleaned up it was gone. The show was fun and our chef had good aim shooting veggies at people and pouring sake into them. We passed on both experiences. Next time we will stick to the regular menu. We will be back, with extra hand wipes.

This month's selection for our ladies luncheon group was the Tokyo Asian Fashion hibachi & Bar on Cooley Street in Springfield. For years we had gone to their West Springfield location - this was the first time at this one. We made reservations ahead of time - 14 women at the hibachi table. We each ordered our own selection from the Speeding Hibachi Lunch with a choice of vegetable, chicken, shrimp, calamari, scallops, steak, filet mignon, lobster tail or a combination of two. The lunch came with soup, fried rice and vegetables. My food was excellent (I asked the chef to hold the salt on my section of the food and he did.) The two chefs provided an entertaining performance including flames, juggling, onion volcanos, squirting saki and tossing vegetables into our mouths. One of our guests had a birthday and the waitress brought a lit candle on some kind of cake. They provided singing and beating of a drum. The waitress was excellent and not frazzled even when writing up individuals checks. We are looking forward to our next visit. The manager Jean was helpful and easy to work with.

Delicious and fun. On the expensive side but worth it. Drinks were good too. My boyfriend was skeptic at first but now he can't wait to go back.

The atmosphere was pleasant and the hibachi chef entertaining. The food was very good, but I do not recommend the calamari. It was rubbery. We had to ask for chopsticks. Overall it was a good night out and I would go back.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. We did not have reservations but were seated within 15 minutes at the hibachi table. Our drinks came promptly but our waiter apologized because our chef was going to be delayed. It wasn't his fault but he was so worried that we had to wait. Really a great waiter. We ordered the Honey for two. It include a little of everything. The food was good but a little over cooked for me, even though I asked to not over cook the food. Our selection included scallops. While the chef did have scallops on the hibachi grill and the other parties at our grill got some, we didn't. At checkout, I told the head waiter we didn't get scallops. She said "I'll ask your chef". Did she think I was lying? She came back and said her chef said he gave us scallops. Mistakes happen. Admit it and move on. I left feeling disappointed overall.

This place is my go-to sushi/hibachi place. Not only is it close by but the service is always great. If you’re a couple sitting at the sushi bar is a great idea on a busy night. You don’t need a reservation for it and they give you an appetizer on the house. Always check the sushi on the white board because it’s usually seasonal or a specialty and you do not want to miss out. You can still order regular food from there as well and it’s next to the bar, you can also see sushi being made and watch tv if you choose. The hibachi is also a must and the chefs are funny and it’s a good time regardless of if you’ve see a hibachi before or not. The regular dinning is also really good, they also have take out if you’re short on time. I always get a side order of noodles and I would recommend them. You can order hibachi menu items even if you aren’t seated at the hibachi table. Sushi wise you can’t go wrong with the patriot roll, Hawaii roll, or the american dream. All the rolls say what they have an if you need and more information the staff will answer your questions.

The Hibachi chef was very entertaining and engaged all of his audience. The servers were prompt and attentive. The portions were above average so if you left hungry you didn't clean your plate. Went there looking for fried noodles(Kobe' style). The main sauce they cook with is some kind of heavy teriyaki. I ordered the Salmon and this sauce was on it as well. Not what my brain was expecting but the food was good.

Tokyo is consistently great. The hibachi show is well done and the food is delicious. Their sushi is also the best in the area. A family favorite!

This is a great little place for lunch or dinner. I have been for both. By far, the best pad thai noodles I have ever had! All of the food is very fresh, and the service is awesome!

LOCATION: The restaurant is located right off highway in W. Springfield area where many other restaurants, hotels, shops and a mall was right by. ATMOSPHERE: Not bad but not good either. You can see the place is started to worn down (especially the ceiling and the floor) but they are keeping it clean. Lighting is kinda strange. the dining area is a little dimmed but the entrance is outrageously bright (like a bright gas station!) and the light from the greeting area is killing the ambiance they are trying to create. GREETER: He looked like an owner or a manager. I could be wrong. He was a middle-aged asian male who wore shirt and tie. He was not particularly friendly. No smiles or anything as he "greeted" me. Possibly because I am an asian male younger than him. Not all of them of course, but sometimes, Asian people tend to do that. (hahaha!) Oh, he didn't say thank you as I was leaving. In fact, he didn't even care to acknowledge me leaving although I past right in front of him and I was the only person at the time! WAITER: Knowledgeable, prompt, attentive but not overwhelming. He was fantastic. MEAL: I ordered traditional Japanese sushi with a roll of California Roll. I have to say I was not expecting the this kind of quality and the skills of the Chief. As soon as I came into the restaurant, I could tell this restaurant was not ran by Japanese owner. It seemed like most of the workers I saw were of Chinese descent. The sushi chiefs also didn't look like they were Japanese. Korean and Chinese sushi chiefs tend to overwhelm sushi rolls with sauce and extra garnishments and as the result, one could not really enjoy the taste of the meat. They also don't really understand the importance of the proportions of sushi (the size of meat vs the size of rice ball). How thick or thin each fish should be cut and in which direction the meat should be cut is extremely important as well, and it apparently takes years and years of serious training (in Japan). Then the "sushi" part. Many people don't know, but Sushi really means vinegared rice. The portion of Vinager and other ingredient such as sugar , are one of the important factors that characterize each high-quality sushi restaurants in Japan. The way the chief at Tokyo prepared was very similar to the ones I used to have in Japan. Meat portion was generous but not overwhelming, the rice ball was not too small, nor not too much. And the rice ball didn't broke apart even when the rice touched the soy sauce. Fish was pretty fresh. Salmon and Yellow tail was excellent. White Tuna, Saba, Tuna and unagi (eel) was very good also. I really appreciate that they didn't make unagi sauce too sweet like most other sushi places in the US would, and it was just the right amount of them on top of the unagi. California Roll didn't have tobiko caviars around or in the sushi (that is one of the main ingredient of the California Roll), but it was still very tasty. They charged whooping $8.50 for Uni (two pieces of sea urchin sushi)! I thought it was a bit over charging it. However, they were served with generous portion of Uni, and the Uni itself was sweet and nicely textured. OVERALL: I thought this is one of the better sushi restaurants in the U.S. Usually I expect this kind of quality in major cities like New York, Chicago or Los Angeles. If you are seeking for a place for a romantic night out, this probably is not the best place to go (unless you want to do the "hibachi"), but if you want to taste a fine quality of sushi, this is the place to go!

We went to Tokyo for our anniversary dinner. We were frequent customers, matter of fact we just went there the other day an had a great experience meeting the son of the owner (Jackie). He was very pleasant and should be manager. My wife and I own and work in the restuarant business and don't usually write reviews of other restaurants but this is about the night manager. We arrived a little later Tuesday night around 9:10pm and order right away a love boat for two, a special roll and udon noodles and two sapporo a lot of food for two. We were served soup and the beers with the noodles within minutes, but the boat took longer. We were severed the boat about ten minutes of ten ( the time they close). We had only taken a few bites when the manager came over to ask us to close and pay for the check, at the same time we heard someone honking a horn over and over again. We asked if we should leave feeling uncomfortable but he said no. So we knew it was late but there was a lot of food about 10:15 came back to see if we were done and then we asked again if he wanted us to leave feeling really uncomfortable he told us that they been closed for a while and he had to go we told him how rude he was and shouldn't have served us ( this whole time the car honking was going on ) when we said this he turned and walked away saying something in Chinese but this is the rudeness and lack of management experience of this individual. I rarely speak up but I had to say something we told him that asking for a patron to pay for dine in food is rude and then walking away when a customer has a complaint is worse. Even the waitress was embarrassed when we were dismissed gain we told them we will never come back and then he said thank you. This is not the way you treat customers. Maybe they should close at 9 and expect to leave at 10 so he can go home. Maybe they should have served us a boat after a certain time. Anyways we have a big family that goes to patronize tokoyo celebrating a lot of family functions but now there are so many others choices to consider. That manager must not understand that but I know the owners will and the waitstaff. As it turns out when we went to our car that car that was honking was a white van and guess who was driving, the manager. This will go down as one of the worse restaurant experiences I've encounter in 25 years or experience.

What a beautiful restaurant! A hidden gem tucked in a strip mall. The menu offers Habachi, various Sushi dishes, fusion Asian, and popular Chinese Dishes. It was almost too difficult to decide what to order! We had Bento Boxes, which is a rare dinner find in our area. The Chicken Teriyaki was moist and placed over a lovely bed of grilled vegetables. Happily, the shrimp tempura came with generous portions of vegetable tempura as well. The California Rolls were fresh and the meal came with salad, miso soup and brown rice, as well as fried shrimp shumai. Two could have shared one box so if on your own, come with a big appetite or prepared to take some home! Can't wait to try the Hibachi next time!
