We stopped in for lunch, not expecting much. The food was delicious! An excellent "loaded" salad, tasty soup and a very good thin crusted pizza. Service was very friendly. Highly recommend.

Our server was very kind and attentive, and the service was quick. However, the quality of the food was not great. The chicken Marsala had a thick, creamy sauce that resembled Alfredo sauce, and the chicken was essentially a chicken patty. Also, due to the...unfortunate short-staffing, they are not selling pizza at the time.More

We stopped in here while visiting Luray and were pleasantly surprised. Although the restaurant is not big, it is filled with nice people and delicious food. My husband declared their pizza was one of the best he ever had and really liked the chicken wings...too. I had a gluten free pizza with no cheese and it was loaded with toppings that I ordered. Their Italian wedding soup was amazing and they said everything is homemade. So glad the Mimslyn had a waiting list and reservations only that day or we would never have discovered this little gem in Luray.More

One meal came out 15 minutes before the pizza. {not good}. Both used the same tasteless red sauce. I've never used salt on a pizza before.

We ordered a Margherita Pizza and Shrimp Scampi. The pizza was perfect in every way. My hubby loved his Scampi. Authentic Italian food. We got it to go and it was just perfect.

We have a second home nearby (in Stanley) and are in the area a lot. Honestly there are not a lot of "great" food options in the area, and Il Vesuvio has become our favorite and our go-to every time we are in the area....Honestly the only reason we gave it a try the first time was they were open. Most places close pretty early, and they were open late, so we didn't have many options....and they did not disappoint. Now we go back because we enjoy it! It is a small place, and they can get busy, but again, that's often because other places close early. It's not fancy. It's just a small town Italian restaurant with hard-working folks putting out good quality food. I highly recommend the Chicken Marsala. The sauce is creamier than what you would normally expect to see, but it is absolutely delicious. Someone in our family always gets that every visit. I highly recommend! Other dishes are great as well. Had Chicken Parm this weekend and was very good as well. Our son gets the baked ziti every time, he loves it. Grandpa had the pizza, he gave it high marks as well. So come with reasonable expectations....you are in a small town, don't expect big-city Italian....but for good, yummy, basic Italian foods I'd highly recommend it. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. And it looks like they do a ton of take-out. Mostly pizza. So a great option for that as well. And lastly, the servers are always busy....who isn't these days....but they are good folks and will take great care of you.More

Great Italian food at a very reasonable price. I tried two of my “test” foods for Italian- meatballs and eggplant Parmesan. Both passed my test with flying colors! Delicious dishes. My husband had the lasagna which was also very good. The tiramisu is a must...try for dessert. I’ll be back during our time here in Luray. I also give five stars to the service which was fast and friendly.More

The hubby and I stopped in here for a quick bite. We were concerned with Covid precautions and they had a nice outside seating area, tables with umbrellas. No one wears masks in this town The waitress Renée, was super great. We lovedthe pizza! The...crust felt very authentic Italian and was light and airy and delicious. The toppings were slightly sparse but genuinely delicious.More

I’m inclined to cut restaurants a lot of slack during the pandemic, but I have to draw the line here. We were vacationing in area & called in a carry out order. They were honest & said they were really busy & it would take...over an hour. Received an order number & quote on total cost. Drove 25 minutes to pick up order. Upon arrival, was told the order did not exist. Talked to 4 different employees (majority of staff) who all denied taking our order. Was told that I needed to redial the number called to verify that we had ordered from the correct pizza place. Called family member who placed order; she redials. I could hear the phone ringing in the kitchen, but staff didn’t answer. Husband also called the number & the staff just let it ring. They were focused on other customers, so I just left.More

I asked what kind of steak is on their steak salad. Server went and asked the cook. Answer - "shredded". Uncle Buck's used to serve a GREAT Rib Eye steak salad. But this restaurant doesn't even know stead comes in different cuts of meat. My...first visit since renovations. Quite a disappointment! Cleanliness was apparently an option also. Not to mention Sanitizing.More

We were in town visiting and didn't want to go to a restaurant after our long day. We ordered online to go pick it up and they called to clarify something, which was great. We got a couple pizzas and buffalo wings and were really...happy with all of it. They were fast and the food was hot. My kids especially enjoyed the joke posted on their board inside: What do you call a person who doesn't like pizza?More

We stopped here after visiting the nearly Luray Caverns, and discovering that most restaurants in Luray were not open during the week. The staff was very pleasant, but food is just your average low-budget Italian fare, nothing spectacular. The bread knots were the best thing...we ordered; the calzone, manicotti, pizza, and house chips were just average. It's not bad if you're in a pinch to find an open restaurant, but we probably wouldn't stop here again.More

Arriving in Luray mid-week, there were not many options to get a dinner later in the evening but fortunately, Vesuvio was open late. Service was prompt, our lasagna was tasty and prices were good for the quantity.
