Reserved my table for 2 in preparation for proposing to my girlfriend. It was a nice romantic location. We ordered the specials, one steak for her and the swordfish for me. After the proposal, she said she couldn't eat. But she ate all her steak...and some of my swordfish. The atmosphere was great and the waitstaff was awesome. Thank you Missy and team for making our night that much more memorable. SHE SAID YES!!!!More

Waited 2 hours to get dinner with reservation. It was cold. Didnt offer to remake or even reheat our dinner. Left hungry. Terrible service that clearly doesnt care about customer.

We were staying in Luray and did not expect to find much fine dining. Moonshadows was excellent. It is small so reservations are a must. The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgable. The food was fantastic. I had the duck breast that was prefectly cooked. My...husband had the crab cakes that he really enjoyed.More

Our second time eating at Moonshadows while vacationing in Luray and it was even better than the first. I had duck with a blueberry lemon sauce that was to die for. Husband had the rockfish that he proclaimed outstanding. Daughter #1 the coffee rubbed steak...and Daughter #2 the Szechuan chicken. Not one bit left to take home! Everything was perfectly prepared with fresh ingredients. Tables spaced out for social distancing. Our server was attentive and even brought us some wine to sample as we couldn't decide on what to order. Highly recommend and we will definitely make this a regular stop while in Luray.More

All the staff were so very nice and accommodating but Shania, our server, was the best!! She recommended dishes that were just SSSOOO good - we had the duck with blueberry lemon glaze and the Angus steak special with red pepper chimichurri (sp?) sauce. Both...scrumptious, including the vegetable and potato side dishes!! She also recommended appetizers - clam chowder and the vegetable spring rolls - both delicious!! This was the best meal we have had in a long time and Shania steered us well! Covid safety was good as well! All servers and patrons masked except while eating and tables speciously socially distanced ! Kudos! We will be back!!More

I try to make Moonshadows a stop whenever I'm in Luray. It's a treat with a great atmosphere and food. I ate on the porch this trip and watched the world pass by while having a craft beer and an excellent meal. What more could...you ask for dinner?More

Dined upstairs on a Sunday nite with a 7:30 reservation. Started with arancini (ok) with an apple walnut salad. Main: lemon Szechuan chicken ( very good but not Szechuan spicy) and halibut (lovely), and an unusually light blueberry cheesecake. The menu had a lot of...choices. Service pleasant and professional. Homey comfortable style atmosphere. Felt safe in COVID times. You could dine here two notes in a row and appreciate the eclectic variety.More

I ran a restaurant where I live and I can tell you this meal was 1 of best I have had. And I have had multiple chefs work with me and this was full of flavor.

Very good service, call ahead for reservations. Spacing and preparations for COVID are fine. The food is excellent and the portions are fair. Prices are not outlandish but are probably on the high side for Luray. We had the steak and the jumbo shrimp. Both...were very good. A nice spot for a special meal.More

We searched for a lunch spot on Sunday Sept 20 and found ourselves at Moonshadows, one of very few restaurants open that day. We sat on the back patio and were promptly served drinks, scones, fruit and waited. Our entrees were fried rice and shrimp,...and a creole black bean rosti with a roasted veggie coulis. Both were very good but we waited well over an hour for them to make it out of the kitchen. While we did not have a reservation and had been exploring the Hawksbill Greenway and town on foot, we were hungry. We were told that the kitchen was a two man team that had gotten swamped with the brunch event. The servers did their best but we were left alone for long periods.More

You probably don’t need a reservation, but they do events from time to time, so it might be a good idea to call ahead and ask them directly. I’ve been there a handful of times and always have called ahead. I’ve also always... More
