About
Housed in an iconic old adobe building in the center of Santa Fe, Sazon gives its patrons a taste of what the authentic Mexico, with its fastest growing ethnic cuisine in terms of popularity, is all about. The artwork is stunning. Starting with a massive chandelier in the main hallway, custom made in Guadalajara and featuring over 16 different lamps, to the furniture and artwork, it is obvious that special attention has been given to the interior decoration. The oil on canvass paintings are beautiful, featuring artists from Mexico City, Guadalajara and Cabo, Mexico. The dining room is warm and inviting with lots of space so you don't feel crowded, but also plenty of romantic and private spots

Great Santa Fe mole experience! I loved the combination of flavors and textures in the "love soup", as well. This a perfect spot for a date night!

Had dinner at Sazón last night. Lots of hype about it being Santa Fe’s best restaurant. Nice ambiance, excellent service but found the food to be good, not great. Very turned off by the chef distributing a prayer card as a memento to everyone at...our table. Quite expensive and very nice but not great!More

If you are going to Santa Fe CALL NOW!!! Scoring a table is no easy feat so call the moment you make your travel plans. Chef Fernando greeted us and Jordan (waiter) was our guide through a memorable and amazing evening. Top of my list...for return visits to Santa Fe. From the setting (bright art-filled space reflective of the cuisine and ingredients) to the mole tasting starter, cocktails that were imaginative and different. Amazing apps (baby crickets and squash blossoms). SOUP OF LOVE. Entrees with your desired mole. And a layered dessert that is down right haunting. A classic and distinguished evening. Thank you to Chef and staff.More

Consider ours the latest voices to be added to the near-unanimous chorus praising chef Fernando Olea and his incredible staff for creating what is one of -- make that the best of -- Santa Fe's dining experiences. This is a restaurant operating on a very...high level of excellence in every department. The food is simply sublime -- personal recommendations include the halibut and salmon -- with Olea's signature mole sauces the culinary highlight. Meals are served by a staff exceptionally well-trained at pacing the courses, and the carefully hand-picked decor and art sets an elegant, romantic environment. Reservations are an absolute must, owing to nature of the evening seatings.More

Our dinner at Sazon was out of this world. The ambiance was upscale but not stuffy, and the service by Megan was second to none. She tantalizingly described the items on the menu to us, keeping our dietary preferences and my shellfish allergy in mind....Megan helped us select our dishes, how to course them, and didn't let us down. Every course we had was better than the next, and that is saying a lot. We started with Xochimilco, a savory and earthy corn truffle with mini tortillas. Rich and delish. This was followed by the Sopa de Amor, a delicate soup with green chile, crab, chocolate, and amaretto foam, which my husband raved about. We moved on to the Flor de Calabaza, a lightly fried, deliciously cheese-stuffed zucchini blossom with ginger aioli and chocolate balsamic sauce. Good lord, it was good. The piece de resistance was the fish of the day, Halibut in a Mole Verde. It was cooked to perfection. We finished our dinner with an espresso and the Helado de Mole Poblano; a chocolate mole ice cream (the mole is rich and subtle), covered with architectural-looking spun sugar, sitting on a bed of chocolate, and beet and sweet potato crisps. Get a smidge of each ingredient on your spoon, and you will be transported. I felt like I needed time alone with my dessert. We were made for each other. I haven't even mentioned all the personal attention we received, both the manager and Chef Olea stopped by our table to check in, and they were lovely. We've been to some wonderful restaurants over the years in many places, and Sazon stands out as one of the best. I feel like this is telling someone a movie is great, and I don't mean to over-rhapsodize, but truly, don't miss it if you live in or are visiting Santa Fe. Sazon is a one-of-a-kind culinary experience.More

I'm not a fan of Mexican food, but since we were in Santa Fe I thought we should at least try a Mexican restaurant, and Sazon got the best reviews so we booked it for our arty of 5. Am I ever glad we did....Everything about this place just blew me away. The food was fantastic. I kept saying "I have never tasted anything like this" at every course. The Chef's special soup was beyond belief wonderful. The best ever. The desert was like nothing I had ever eaten before...something like 5 "layers" of flavor and taste that were revealed gradually as you ate...just as the waitress said. The service was also great. When each course arrived, several waiters were involved so everyone's food was put on the table at exactly the same time, with a little ceremony, and the same was true when they were removing dishes (and thank goodness they didn't start taking plates away before everyone had finished...a major service failing of too many restaurants). That little touch of ceremony made the meal feel extra special. The only negative was that at the very end of the dinner the level of service seemed to drop off a bit...probably because it was 2 days before Christmas, the restaurant was about to close, and everyone wanted to get home! All in all a magical experience. It has been a month, and I am still thinking about that meal.More

Sazon is easily the best restaurant in Santa Fe. The entire meal was fabulous with great attention to details and wonderful service. Xochimilco as an appetizer was unique as we were tasting corn truffle for the first time. Dulce Sinfonia // The dessert is to...die for.More

Really quite disappointed. Our table was teeny-tiny and we could barely hear each other speak. Mole was amazing but our entres left a lot to be desired. Staff was fine, not great. Chef was out greeting diners most of the night (he probably should have...stayed in the kitchen).More

Our second time having dinner here and if possible it was even better than the first time. The mole tasting is fun and each of us favored a different one. The shrimp enchiladas and the lamb were the favorite entrees of the table. But the...absolute stars of the meal were the appetizers. We especially loved the zucchini blossoms and the soup! The quality of the food is matched by the quality of the service. Our daughter had a wonderful birthday dinner for our last night in Santa Fe. We bought several different moles to bring a little of Sazon home with us!More

I made reservations far in advance and was looking forward to a special evening with my husband at Sazon. First of all, let me say that the taste of the food did not disappoint. We enjoyed the mole tasting, and I decided to pair the...chocolate one with the duck. I was right that the tastes were amazing! The other sides on the plate were also delicious, and my husband really enjoyed his pepper steak. We both started with the sopa de amor which was downright stunning! The layers with their different tastes and temperatures and textures made for an out-of-this-world experience. The problem with our evening laid between the soup and the duck. It took one full hour after the soup before the main course was served. We had various apologies during that time, but nonetheless the duck did not appear for such a long time, that it quite ruined the evening in my estimation. Perhaps they were out shooting it (lol), but there is no excuse for a kitchen to have this happen, especially one with this reputation and the expensive prices. I really was rather shocked. (We were one of the first parties there, so this problem seems even more inexplicable) To make amends, they gave us a free signature dessert which was delicious, but frankly, not enough to make up for the hour wait. So, I would give the food a five star. Our server was great (this was not his problem). I would probably even try coming back. But I would give the kitchen production staff a 1 and so that averages out to a 3 for this time.More

One of the best dining experiences ever! The meal started with an array of sauces to sample so that we would know which we would want on our entrees. I chose the chef’s creation that had a hint of orange. Then we both had a...soup with crab meat topped by a cold Amaretto froth and a dusting of chocolate. It was heavenly! We both had the pork chop with our chosen sauces. Altogether one of the most delicious meals ever!!More

This place is an experience. Before they even give you menus, they bring out a variety of moles for your to try then they suggest certain dishes that would compliment your favorite mole flavor. The decor is fun, authentic, and laid back. The service and...food are wonderful! My only advice is if your patience is on the shorter end, this might not be the place for you. You don’t see a dinner menu for a little while and potentially might not even order dishes that are specific to the moles they have you try. Desserts are INCREDIBLE though!More

This is one of the best dining experiences I've had in Santa Fe. It was a special night celebrating a girlfriend gathering and as we walked to the front door turns out we were greeted by the owner and chef who was a lovely host!...The warmth and hospitality of this place is incredible! We were amazing at the muse to start our dining experience getting a full detail on their different styles of moles with every ingredient to infuse the palette. From start to finish, the food was incredible, service was engaged and personal and the owner kept checking in to be sure everyone was happy. Exquisite Santa Fe Gem!More
