The food was way fresh. Shrimp large not the small ones. The tacos were so flavorful. Staff made sure we were happy every step of the way.

Great food, drinks and service. We started with Oaxacan Sopes, a great chance to try the Mole. For dinner, my husband had Chile Nogada (the national dish of Mexico), which was awesome! Don't let the ingredient list scare you, this is really Mexican comfort food....I tried the Carne Asada, which was also quite tasty. Tres Leches cake made a great finish. Margaritas (one Tequila, one Mescal) were made to order, and were also good! Downstairs on San Francisco, does not disappoint!More
My Mom and I actually intended to eat at a different restaurant but it was closed for a private event. They recommended La Fogata. So glad they did. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding! My Mom is not really into Mexican food...but loved her Salmon dish. If you’re in Old Town Santa Fe, go eat!! We certainly plan to!More
We have tried every taco from truck to fancy and La Fogata is right up there with the best. Friendly service, delicious drinks and a fun atmosphere. Glad we braved downtown to go!
Fried plantains, beef empanadas, and shrimp fajitas with cilantro rice and black beans... all were absolutely delicious. We visited around 2:00 on a Tuesday afternoon and the wait to be seated was less than 10 minutes. The service was excellent and the setting and decor...felt like we were back in Central America. We opted to take a serving of flan and chocolate mousse cake to go after our meal because we were so stuffed - these deserts were divine! I highly recommend this awesome restaurant to anyone and I look forward to returning again someday. Many thanks to the staff for such a wonderful and memorable meal.More
The food was delicious and excellent service. We have been here several times innthe past and have never been disappointed. Tonight we had the Oaxacan Barbacoa and my wife had the Empanadas. Both were outstanding. Good sized portions and attentive service. Highly recommend it.
Experience & food far exceeded our expectations! We are from diverse foodie Houston, and were blown-away at the absolutely DELISH SHRIMP CEVICHE & Watermelon/Mint drink. Authentic & wonderful central American food- don't let the downstairs location of this restaurant deter you!
While walking around the historic district we decided to pop in for lunch. So glad we did. The food was excellent. One of the quiet lunches where nobody talked so you know the food was good. Service was excellent. Staff was nice. Wish I could...go again soon!More
Very good NewMex fare, full bar, attentive service, reasonable prices, one flight down. Chili Relleno with green rice and Oacaxan barbacoa were very good.
This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at our hotel and when I saw that it was in a basement area I began to be doubtful but soon I was pleasantly surprised!! We had guacamole made table side and cheese and chorizo and salsa and...chips. Which were all wonderful. The margarita I had was top shelf good! And the chicken fajitas were fantastic. Our service was on point too. If you want a laid back atmosphere and good food this is the place !!More
We faced what is common in downtown Santa Fe at lunchtime. Restaurants will not take reservations & all have a long wait. We happened onto La Fogota & enjoyed a delicious Ceviche & a local beer. Service was good & the food was fresh. Yummy...looking dishes were served all around us.More
Delicious food, and a great casual spot if you’re just rolling into town and have no set plans. We ordered the carne asada, elote, and Oaxacan barbacoa and it was sublime.
Since it was a rain and hail storm while walking in the old town center, we were wanting to quickly find a restaurant without a long wait, since we also had limited time. We decided to try the nearby La Fogata and were so glad...that we did. We ordered two of the three most popular dishes and loved them. We especially loved the Chile Nogado- (an inventive stuffed poblano pepper)! Every bite was something that you just wanted to savor. We also ordered the Chile Colorado-also a satisfied choice. As an appetizer we chose the plate of three sopes. Each had a different delicious topping. The mole was so delicious though that I think if I ordered it again, I would order the mole topping on each one. I just wanted more of that marvelous mole! The strawberry salad was a refreshing side with a great dressing.More
Stopped for a 1:30 Sunday lunch. No wait for a table, and were able to sit relatively outside, which we preferred. Our order was taken after sitting for about 15 minutes. Our food arrived 45 minutes later with no explanation for the delay. Food was...average at best, and my request for extra black beans in lieu of rice was ignored. After another 15 minute wait for our check I took our bill to the bar to pay instead of waiting even longer to get our credit card back. And of course it started raining by the time we walked out.More
Santa Fe is a tough restaurant market -- with plenty of good food, much of it pricey, and some of it surprisingly mediocre. La Fogata is turning our good food at reasonable prices. Even the rice and beans are tasty -- better than ordinary --...and the entrees are savory without excessive spiciness. Service at a busy lunch hour was friendly and adequate. And we didn't have to wait for a table!More
