You arrive and immediately think Google maps has misled you but what a treat. We were fortunate to be seated next to the bakery glass and enjoyed the peaceful pleasure of watching professionals prepare their delicious pastries and breads. Gluten free diet - no worries,...the menu is accommodating with very tasty choices, including pancakes. Enjoy a meal and then shop for something to take home for later.More

Great service. Quiet and small, with white linen tables, small dining area that looks out in to the working bakery. Delicious. Limited menu, that is much better than “country breakfast”. They have a many vegan and vegetarian options.

The food is always excellent as are their baked goods. Portions are huge. Hope they open for dinner. Their croissants are the best in town

One of the best and most consistent brunches we have had anywhere, one of the pleasure of enjoying their brunch is doing so while you watch their master bakers prepare the sweets for the front side of their shop.

Chocolate Maven is one of our favorite places for breakfast. As vegans, their menu is perfect for us. Most of the items can be made vegan, and the dishes are excellent. Also, all of the staff are very nice and helpful. We like to bring...out-of-town visitors here, not only for the delicious cuisine, but also the unique opportunity to view the chefs making bakery items in the ultra-spotless and impressive kitchen. We are very grateful to the owners for providing a consistent dining experience.More

I really wanted to love the Chocolate Maven but unfortunately, I just liked it. It was totally okay. I had the Huevos Rancheros for my meal. It should have been served with a spoon because it looked more like Huevos Rancheros Soup. It was the...blandest and most boring Huevos Rancheros I have ever eaten. There was little to no care about this meal and it showed. I then ordered a Chocolate Croissant to finish off the meal. That croissant was the densest croissant I have ever eaten in my life. I'm not one to ever eat half of a croissant and quit but I had to or bad things would have happened. Outside of the food, the service was fantastic and they were super nice and accommodating. It's not their fault that the food isn't great. I hope the back of the house picks up their game!More

Friends recommended we stop by for breakfast, so glad we did. Our server helped us select delicious meals. The quiche was sooooo good and the peach cobbler French toast was rich and a bit decadent. Our coffee cups were kept filled. As a special treat,...It was fun to watch chocolate croissants being prepared in the bakery. Friendly people and great service.More

Food was delicious, service was friendly and excellent. Great coffee!! I bought biscochitos for my trip home - delicious. Don't let the outside fool you - there's a wonderful experience waiting inside.

You will not go wrong in coming to The Chocolate Maven for breakfast. The most difficult thing here is in choosing what to have. Eggs, pancakes, waffles are all on the menu and all are delicious. You can also be seated near a plate glass...window which allows you to watch the staff at work making some of the pasties which will then be available on the menu or for sale at the counter. My only gripe with this is that I was able to observe a worker making pasties and he did not wear any gloves while handling the dough. Perhaps ignorance is blissMore

I found myself having to find places for breakfast on my recent vacation in Santa Fe. My motel was unable to provide their normal continental breakfast due to COVID. The motel proprietress recommended Chocolate Maven so I thought I'd check it out. LOVED IT! Ended...up eating here 3 times, twice for breakfast and once for lunch (with breakfast food!). The Café was added to the pre-existing bakery awhile back. They're both located in a portion of a warehouse structure. But what the exterior lacked, the interior more than made up for. Nice ambience with a view of the working bakery through a glass wall. The first time, on a Wednesday, I had the Chilaquiles which I had never had before. To quote their menu: “The quintessential Mexican breakfast, locally crafted tortilla strips sautéed in red chile, topped with two organic eggs, queso fresco, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, cotija cheese, organic Yucatan style black beans.” Well, I know what they are now, I loved them, and I’ll have them again! Also, I bought a box of Biscochitos, a wonderful New Mexican Cookie with cinnamon and anise. (I spread out eating them over 3 days…the height of restraint for me.) Great service from my waitress. On Thursday morning I had the Blue Corn Blueberry Pancakes (topped with brown sugar piñon sauce and toasted pine nuts) and a side of House Made Green Chile Sausage. This was my favorite meal I ate at this restaurant (but the other meals were great, too)! So good! I had a different waiter this time, just as good as the waitress the day before. Finally, I went at lunch time on Friday but still had breakfast food. This time I ordered Peach French Toast (thick sliced batter dipped challah French toast made with organic eggs, with peach compote, vanilla cream cheese, organic maple syrup, dusted with cinnamon) and my new love, House Made Green Chile Sausage. And French Toast from challah bread? Wow! More great service and a very, very happy customer. What can I say? I'll be skipping my free breakfasts at the motel when they return. I simply have to eat at Chocolate Maven Bakery and Café! (It's a shame that they are not also listed under restaurants on TA. How are people going to discover this great place?)More

I just came from the Chocolate Maven and witnessed a very disturbing sight. I was seated next to the glass windows overlooking the bakery. I saw a worker drop two enormous slabs of pastry dough on the filthy concrete floor, and pick them up and...return them to the table to use again. Disgusting.More

Having ordered online during lockdown and carefully stood outside for the exchange of the Maven's always tasty croissant for a piece of plastic, what a treat it was to have brunch inside this Sunday! We had eggs benedict (though pre-pandemic I always loved the chilaquiles),...which arrived at the table perfectly cooked. Service is warm, gracious and efficient. Remember to tell people for my birthday that I want the chocolate cake again. BTW, do not know if it is a regular holiday item, but one fundraiser offered a free King's Cake for Mardi Gras. It was my only disappointment ever from the bakery.More

I recently dined there and there is! You simply go to the wifi setting on your phone and search, their signal pops up and connects you right away. Very easy!
