This is a gourmet dining experience. They have the best burger at the bar with the best onion rings I have ever had. Regular food is good they have a nice menu and then the bar menu. The bar has very limited seating so if you are stopping by for a burger make a reservation.

The Compound not only has great food but it's atmosphere and staff make it the most relaxing comfortable dining experience in the entire city. The menu changes seasonally and the dishes are always incredibly interesting and with varied ingredients! Bottom line, it's great and unlike the other high ranked Resturant in town, they don't rush you they your meal.

Found this restaurant at the top of Canyon Road. We were on our way down and I saw a sign for The Compound and read the menu which looked really good. I shared this with my Mother and daughter and we all agreed we had to come back to have lunch here. At the bottom of Canyon Road we decided... More

The ambience at the Compound is very nice. Reservations required on the weekend probably one day in advance. Extensive wine list. Menus differ depending on the time of year. The summer menu was on line, but the fall menu was offered in the restaurant. Enjoyed the salmon, and nice deserts. The waiter was not well prepared with full knowledge of... More

The overall dinner experience was excellent. Food was marvelous, tasty and well presented. The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. Service was friendly but missed on a few touches such as having to ask which person ordered which dish and having to request wine service on a few occasions. The Compound has been a part of our family dinners... More

Very elegant, parking can be tricky on busy nights and so worth dining at. They have outside dining but inside is cozier - a hard place to beat for an evening meal in winter. Long known and well regarded in Santa Fe, it was closed for a few years until Chef Kiffin reopened it in 2000 and remodeled it. He... More

If they have a special, order it. For us it was mushrooms from Oregon, deliciously sauteed with butter and herbs. Our group loved, really loved, everything they ordered. One person, who has traveled the world, said that the tenderloin was in the top five that he has ever eaten. Lamb chops, pork and sea bass also got rave reviews. The... More

We had heard high praise for The Compound for years. It's a beautiful place and lots of people love it. It just wasn't one of our favorites. The food we had that night was good, not great. Our service was good, not great. Maybe it was just an off night all around. It was not hurting for business, so I'm... More

Mark Kiffin, celebrated chef, owner, and author of the Compound Restaurant, has won the James Beard Foundation award as one of America's Best Chefs. The Compound is Santa Fe's premier restaurant with Chef Kiffin's acclaimed seasonal Contemporary American cuisine derived from Santa Fe's rich heritage of regional and Mediterranean influences. The New York Times, Gourmet magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Wine Spectator have all selected the Compound as Santa Fe's favorite. Equally impressive is the attentive, highly knowledgeable and friendly staff. Chef Kiffin's menus focus on the exclusive changes in seasons such as hearty braised dishes in the fall and winter using apples, pears and cider from local harvests, osso bucco and porcini risotto while in spring and summer feature fresh local vegetables and naturally raised organic lamb and delectable strawberries.
