While a little pricey, the food here was excellent. It seemed a little formal for lunch but there were patrons from all walks of life here. The food was excellent but the service left a little to be desired. I had to ask for more water several times before getting any.

One of the best restaurants in Santa Fe. We are in the garden last night. Every dish was cooked to perfection and the presentation was wonderful. If you want good food here inSanta Fe this is one of the places to go. On a par with Arroyo Vino another outstanding restaurant in Santa Fe.

I have dinned at The Compound since 1969. This beautiful place on Canyon Road in beautiful Santa Fe never disappoints! We had an amazing "birthday" celebration there just a few weeks ago. The service, the food, the atmosphere, the people watching ALL were amazing. It was a great, great choice to celebrate anything, but especially my husband's birthday. Anything on... More

We arrived later the evening, being dressed very casual - underdressed so to speak. Without a flicker in the eye the Maitre De attended us to a table. In order not to spoil the semi-formal atmosphere (and as the night was warm and soft) we settled on the Patio. Nice place to be, especially when you are stiitng outside at... More

The Compound is a beautiful place designed by Alexander Girard of the Santa Fe Folk Art Museum fame. The food is very good but some dishes tend to be on the heavy older French style with lots of butter...still very tasty. In June there were a couple dishes with local morels. It is one of the older restaurants that has... More

The compound is consistently excellent. There is always something interesting on the menu and great specials. Not cheap but if you want an excellent dining experience with great service this is the place. Always right on. We dine there about every three months.

After dinner with friends at another favorite Santa Fe restaurant, we wanted something different for dessert and someone suggested the Compound - brilliant! Seated in a casually attractive and comfortably furnished patio outside the bar, we shared the pannacotta and brown butter custard desserts. I had a glass of sauterne (Maison Nicolas 2006), at $16 the most expensive item on... More

The Compound has been an attraction to the Santa Fe Style for years and each time I visit, I find new delights. Something about the lighting that makes us all look better, too! This last time we were a party to surprise a friend on her bithday. The staff conspired to make it so special...and the room upstairs was delightful... More

Disclaimer: We did not eat here - so our rating is based on the fun time we had at the small, slow bar... the space is super cool and secluded. Looked very fancy! There is an outdoor patio, too, where there are dinner tables and lounge space, as well. Here's why we rate as "average." Service was average... the hostess... More

My husband and I had a great lunch here while exploring Canyon Road. It was exactly what we needed - attentive service, beautiful surroundings, delicious (but not too heavy) lunch, and a good glass of wine. Also, coming at lunch is less expensive than dinner. We would certainly eat here again and recommend it to others.

Description
Mark Kiffin, celebrated chef, owner, and author of the Compound Restaurant, has won the James Beard Foundation award as one of America's Best Chefs. The Compound is Santa Fe's premier restaurant with Chef Kiffin's acclaimed seasonal Contemporary American cuisine derived from Santa Fe's rich heritage of regional and Mediterranean influences. The New York Times, Gourmet magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Wine Spectator have all selected the Compound as Santa Fe's favorite. Equally impressive is the attentive, highly knowledgeable and friendly staff. Chef Kiffin's menus focus on the exclusive changes in seasons such as hearty braised dishes in the fall and winter using apples, pears and cider from local harvests, osso bucco and porcini risotto while in spring and summer feature fresh local vegetables and naturally raised organic lamb and delectable strawberries.
