This restaurant can be great one time and it can be mediocre the next. We have been getting takeout all summer and in the process learning what to order. The sure bets are the lobster ramen, and the pork ribs, but grill the ribs yourself...because the meat was dry on our most recent takeout as if they had been grilled a day or so ago. In the winter they had a noodle dish called a Hot Pot which was delicious but it is not on the summer menu. The dishes that are mediocre are the cucumber avocado salad, it is very bland, not special at all, the fried chicken, it is dry and overcooked, again as it if it was a left over, the silken tofu was a 2” square too small to share and looking nothing like the photo on the website, the meat bento box is good but it includes the boring cucumber avocado salad. Net net, it can be great and it can be disappointing which explains the huge variance in the reviews: it all depends on what you order, generally you will be safe with a noodle dish.More

An excellent Japanese food is served within the 10,000 Waves health and spa resort with a very authentic Japanese ambiance. We recommend to share Omakase chef’s tasting menu where portions are generous, and add two more dishes alla carte such as delicate mushroom medley and...another main dish. Service is excellent and ambiance thrilling. Our waitress recommended a very reasonably priced unfiltered sakè. Request to sit close to the waterfall, still outside yet more dramatic and private then sitting under a tent. Arrive early to appreciate the Japanese atmosphere in the main building and shop the main gift shop which offers genuine stuff at accessible prices.More

Thank you very much for your review! I am so glad that you enjoyed your experience. Sharing the omakase by the waterfall seating is my favorite as well. We hope that you can join us again soon!

The Silken Tofu was ok (well, I can do this) but the Izanami Trio ($16) of three veggies and three dips came with sadly old celery brown at the ends which was replaced on request for newer veggies. The Sashimi of the Day was salmon...while reportedly fresh arrived sans sliced ginger again appearing on request. The Smoked Pork Ribs were tasty and fell off the bones tender, but came with nothing else, so a bowl of rice ($6) was needed. Indeed, the restaurant has the best sake menu in town (draft beer was busted that night) and small tables with barely space for the sake cooler. Though reserving/dining early, we got a table overlooking a parking lot and adjacent to the nearby entry/exit with pretty loud banter of the staff. Dinnerfor 2 plus tip came to about $140. Tents outside were available for seating though some (lucky for us?) were seated at the busy entrance walkway. Nice hillside view as evening approached.More

We’ve been getting takeout weekly from Izanami for the past few months. Their system is great, the staff are all wonderful, and the food is fantastic. Love the Veggie Bento Box! Their outdoor dining spaces have evolved over the summer and are also looking quite...lovely!More

We arrived in the early evening monsoon to find all hands on deck, including the chef, making sure diners in tents were not getting wet and everyone had warm blankets fresh from the dryer. The food, as always, was first class, but kudos to the...staff for performing so brilliantly under less than desirable conditions.More

The food was great, which is to expect, but the service was even better. It felt warm and intimate inside, with our waiter showing a true care for us. We felt like we were family! The sake flight was delectable, but they also have a...great selection of teas served in a cute little personal tea pot.More

We came with high hopes, and were partly satisfied. Very knowledgeable staff (about food and sake); great sake list. Service was efficient. We sat at the bar, where we could watch the cooking - great fun! We ordered 3 items: soup, mixed grill and salmon....Each was okay. Disappointing, esp for the price and reputation. Ordered a flight of sake tasting - nice, but very expensive.More

Came by for lunch after visiting the spa next door. Awesome service, amazing food. They were featuring sake the month of Feb, and had some great flights we could try. Definitely recommend this place.

So...it is restaurant week! We were excited to have dinner here, reserved a booth with a view, and even arrived in time to take advantage of happy hour pricing on a nice bottle of wine. Then..the wheels came off. First course, arrived as expected. Second...course, 2:of three arrived, 8 minutes later the third arrived. ..awkward. Third course..one dish, the short rib, arrives.Five minutes later, the lamb chops. We waited a few minutes, the two who had been served started eating, and I sat. And sat. No waitstaff, no one, appears, to let us know if there was some problem...still we waited. And we are all thinking ...”this is RESTAURANT WEEK! This is the fixed menu, should be a hit out of the park for the kitchen and staff..what the heck!”.and just as my table mates were munching their final bites..out comes my chicken. And.. not a word from the server, no apology, absolutely no acknowledgement that anything is wrong..just “here ya go”. We were utterly gobsmacked. And she asked us if we wanted to order dessert..we were thinking that we have to get home sometime tonight and at this service level, it could be a long wait. No thanks. We are locals, and I can assure you that we will never go back, and especially not with a friend. It was actually embarrassing. The food was nice, the view was lovely, but just no.More

Our kitchen is designed so that dishes come out as they are ready and not coursed. I will do my best to make sure the staff informs our guests. Thank you for the feedback.
