My son and his girlfriend were visiting from Chicago for the Thanksgiving holiday. We all love Mexican food and wanted to find a family owned restaurant that served good , reasonably priced food. My son's girlfriend was also looking for a place that served posole. La Choza was our destination. I called the day before and could only get a... More

Simply the best New Mexican food in Santa Fe. Always very busy and I believe they don't take reservations (Im not so sure now); but guess what, these guys have their trade under control and with incredible professionalism you will be seated in no time. Personally, we prefer to sit at the bar and eat there. You will be looked... More

We go to La Choza frequently with out-of-town guests, as it is one of Santa Fe's most popular and pleasant Mexican restaurants. Most recently we went with a relative from Tucson. As it was early October and very pleasant, we sat outside on the patio (much quieter than inside). Service was prompt and professional, food was plentiful and good, and... More

We had reservations and were seated immediately. The food is spicy but delicious! When ordering Christmas chiles on your meals, recognize that the red sauce does have a delicious kick. La Choza did have the best sopaipillas I have ever had - hot, flakey and delicious with honey.

I always appreciate when I walk in a restaurant and the host can tell me how long the wait is. On this day I was was told the wait was 20 minutes. Turned out to be almost an hour. When I finally got in, the restaurant had a ton of open tables, not sure why I had to wait. The... More

I'm not sure what all the hype is about for this place. The food is good. The staff friendly. But to me it's just the same as any other restaurant with Southwest food. I didn't come away saying I have to go back and try something else. Like they say in Vietnam, Same same only different. If you've never been... More

Enjoyed lunch at this fabulous place and must say it was the best Mexican meal ever!! Try the fish tacos A new twist on the dish with a fresh flavor. My wife ( gluten issue) had veggie enchiladas which were also fabulous. Manager, Newman was very accommodating and Natalie was the perfect server. Don't miss this place!!

Beautiful outdoor patio. You'd better make reservations because this is definitely NOT a walk-in place; too many people want to eat here. Great, great, GREAT fresh lime margarita. I love the posole. This is truly authentic Mexican food and it runs hot so, unless you really like it hot, I recommend ordering mild. They are very generous with their servings,... More

As former Santa Feans we were used to thinking of LaChoza as the more convenient alternative to The Shed. Food was never quite as good and it was almost empty most evenings. Imagine our surprise then when we were looking for a convenient place on a Friday night to have to wait in line. A fairly long line. The place... More
