It’s been many months since we ate at Fiesta Oaxaca which I now understand was a massive mistake on my part. The menu since our last meal has changed a bit but the food is still fantastic. We had to order Chips and Salsa due to the off the charts red salsa made here. It is so unusual and really to die for. Yeah, you used to get this for ‘free’ but now it’s a $7 option. And yes, $7 for chips and salsa is a bit high but I have to say, it is worth the price because the chips come warm, are home made as is the salsa which was so good, we asked for 2nds (and they obliged). So while you might think this is a lot to pay for what other Restaurants serve outright, this really isn’t the same “chips from a bag, salsa from a jar” found in other Restaurants. My wife had the Pescado Veracruz which was outstanding; full of flavor, fresh fish, nice heat. I had to again order Chile Nogada as whenever I see this offered, and it’s rare to find, I always order it. The treatment at Fiesta Oaxaca is the best I’ve ever had (that includes the Nogada at Los Portillos on Cerrillos or La Casita Cafe in Las Cruces). I’m not a huge lover of black beans but the way they are made here, creamy and with a hint of garlic is outstanding. Ditto for the rice which is vastly superior to most Mexican Restaurants in town. Service was excellent (thank you Rogelio). One of the best regional Mexican Restaurants in town! Yes, the prices are absolutely mid to upper mid-range (our entrees ranged from $16-$19) but you get what you pay for here so I’m happy to pay occasionally for such superb food.

I love chicken mole, and since we were going to be in Santa Fe, I looked for a restaurant that serves it. Fiesta Oaxaca is close to the Plaza. Parking was easy (granted it is winter, but the restaurant is on the north side of the plaza, which means more parking). A fun room, and incredibly friendly staff. While there are plenty of fancy and expensive restaurants in Santa Fe (most of which we've visited over the past 25 years), this may be the best value we've ever found. My chicken mole was great, which was exactly what I needed.

The restaurant offers 5 different moles and has a mole tasting option. 3 with chicken, one with pork and one with yucca. At this time only outdoor dining is allowed. There are 4 socially distanced shaded tables. The server actually created 3 of the moles so it was awesome to be able to talk with him. The green rice has epazote giving it a unique flavor. The food is very authentic. Beer and wine only. Kid friendly. The cabernet was very interesting. Absolutely love this place and will be coming often.

The service was very lackluster which is also how I would describe the food. The chips tasted like they came out of a bag and there was little difference in the taste of the two salsas. The pork in the tacos was a bit dry. The glass of sangria was probably the best part of the meal. For the price this was most disappointing meal. I would not return to this restaurant.

Simply stellar meal. We asked for tortillas instead of chips to try with the mole sample. The tortillas (which they also use on the tacos) were made to order from Mexican masa and were the best tortillas I have ever had. The moles were exquisite from the dark chocolate to the green to the sweeter. We shared a jicama salad and each had tacos (barbacoa, pibil, and more) were so lovely. My friend had a guanabana agua fresca, which was made from fresh squeezed juice. Excellent service. This place should be packed to the gills, but inexplicably, we were able to walk right in and sit down. finally, crazy affordable for Santa Fe. Go immediately.

I split the tamale and suiza enchilada entree with a friend— this was the first time we had tasted mole and it did not disappoint. There is nothing about the meal that was subpar. Additionally, the customer service (including level of attention and speed) was the best I experienced. What a gem- I will definitely come back anytime I am in Santa Fe!

I'm glad some travelers had a good experience at Fiesta Oaxaca. I wish I were one of them. I have spent several weeks in Oaxaca. My worst meals there were better than my experience here. Maybe it was just a bad day. The service was slow and not very attentive. The food was served barely above room temperature. When I commented to the server that it was lukewarm, he asked, "The perfect temperature?" No acknowledgement of the problem. No apology. I had the amarillo mole, which was bland, and the sauce appeared to have been poured over pork that had been cooked separately -- so the entree was bland meat with a sauce. Neither the black beans nor the rice were beyond ordinary. Of course, they might have had more flavor if they were served above 110 degrees. My wife's chicken mole torta was more flavorful, with a bit of complexity, but it, too was tepid. In the competitive restaurant business, there is no excuse for this kind of experience. There are better meals to be found in Santa Fe at better prices!

This is by far the most horrible place I have been in my entire life. The drinks had no alcohol, the chips came out of a plastic bin with bare hands, the prices were over priced the guacamole was 2 ounces and $11 and on top of this the waiter made an error on the bill and when we brought it to his attention he proceeded to scream at us and shout profanities, he also included the fact he doesn’t give a s*** about reviews online. On the way out four tables were shaking their heads and saying how they messed up orders and one couple overheard and commented on how their food was the worst thing they had ever had. I have never in my life been so disrespected or disgusting with an establishment. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. You will have a better experience at McDonalds I promise. I can’t post this without a star but it deserves none.

First visit. I had the mole de tamarind. Portion unusually small, but then again, prices low. Pork very tender and I loved the tangy sauce. My only complaint is that they absolutely need to make an effort to warm up the food before serving. I was tempted to send it back. The margarita I ordered wasn’t anything memorable. First yellow one I’ve ever had, WITH a lemon slice! I will give it another try one day. My son and daughter-in-law were thrilled to find a vegan version offered for almost almost every dish. The service was attentive enough. Would feel more comfortable with cleaner looking glassware. Just sayin’.

I walked by this place on the way to the plaza. It had a cute patio, so I looked for details online. We came back for dinner, and were not disappointed! My wife and I each ordered a Negra Modelo, then for dinner we shared the Quesadilla de Poblano (vegan option) and the Ensalada de Aguacate con Mango. For dessert, we shared the flan. Everything was so very, very good. Service was exemplary. Highly recommended and we will be back!

While my Chicken Mole really hit the mark, unfortunately my Cajeta tres leches cake, which I was so looking forward to, did not. Sadly, the cake didn’t seem moist at all, as if it had never been soaked in “three milks” at all. The whipped topping tasted more like cool whip than real whipped cream. The only positive was the Cajeta caramel that topped the slice. I just expected better given such overall positive reviews…

I went to Fiesta Oxaca for lunch while visiting Santa Fe with my daughter. We were on our way to the Georgia O'Keefe Gallery and happened to notice it. We both ordered different dishes and both agreed it was among the best Mexican food we ever tasted.. We are from Arizona and eat Mexican food at least once a week. We both loved it so much we decided to go back for dinner. I have been thinking about the vegan quesadillas I tried ever since. They were amazing!!!

The food was not good. Overpriced for what we were served. Cheese was like eating rubber. Quesadillas tasted stale. Ordered cheese dip for child and it was inedible. Although the server did attempt to cook cheese dip again for us it still was not edible. Host was very rude when we questioned having to pay for items we could not eat. As a tourist attempting to experience authentic cuisine and culture we were very disappointed.

Dinner was ok, although the ‘Oaxacan mole’ was not the dark, rich mole we all expected. In fact, we may have all received the wrong mole ( tamarind) altogether. Still, it was tasty. Our biggest complaint would be that a bottle of Dos Equis ( and all other beer) was a ridiculous $9. Those kind of airport prices leave a bad taste in your mouth. We won’t return. Much better Mexican food is easy to find in Santa Fe.

If you are a mole enthusiast or plain curious about its many flavors this is the place. You start with mole sample dish of five different flavors including the cocoa one, our favorite. Then you order the one you prefer with different meats and veggies. There is an open courtyard with gas heaters and the staff is following strict Covid precautions.
