This is a great place to try authentic real Mexican food, which is different from the traditional "Mexican" restaurants in Santa Fe. I really enjoy the pibil burrito. It is in a convenient location on Palace Ave and Grant across Grant from the old Courthouse.

I randomly found this restaurant while walking around Old Town in Santa Fe. I ordered a sangria which was very tasty guacamole and chips we are very good chips. Guacamole was good but could’ve been chunkier. Then I ordered the Chiles en Nogada. OMG!!!! I’ve...now got a New Mexican dish that I absolutely am in love with. Many ingredients, very complex flavor profile, beautifully cooked. A truly outstanding, memorable dish. They do now have indoor/out fl door seating, not just takeout. What a great meal.More

Time to revisit now that the pandemic is less an issue and Fiesta Oaxaca now has a great outdoor seating area. Once again I had to have the Chile Nogada and they are as always, outstanding. My wife tried something new: CHILES RELLENOS VERACRUZ and...it was also outstanding. What I found amazing was how great the black beans and the rice were. I'm usually a bit lukewarm for black beans, probably because there are never as tasty as these. What a great flavor profile. My only minor disappointment was the Flan which wasn't very creamy and smooth. Maybe it wasn't as fresh as usual. I have to take half a star off (but still, 4.5 stars). Also, next time if I try the Flan, I've got to request no chocolate whatever it was on top; never necessary with good Flan. This restaurant has really good Horchata too; great flavor, obviously homemade. Outside seating was lovely.More

There is nothing fancy about Fiesta Oaxaca, but this is terrific and uncommon Mexican food in a more or less bare bones setting. The food is Oaxacan for the most part, I gather, and also from Southern Mexico. The mole is made seven peppers and...five nuts, all pureed into a rich sauce and has a much more chocolate taste than any other mole I have tasted. The little things here leave a big impression. The chips and salsa seems to include home-made chips (a lot of them) and three salsas -- red, green and mole. The beans on the platters we had were black and richly flavored (as opposed to the glutinous tan ones so common in Mexican restaurants). The pork carnitas had a complex and subtle flavor, We chatted with the owner/chef for a bit, and were impressed by his (appropriate) pride in what his kitchen is producing. This is a restaurant not to be missed.More

Wow this is a sleeper restaurant, meaning it is super good but flies under the radar. We ordered the mole sampler appetizer and then chose our entrees from there. SO GOOD. And the margaritas were great too. This is good, authentic, Mexican food from the...southern part of Mexico. We will be back!More

We had an excellent meal with rich flavors and authentic to the Oaxaca region. Much care was taken in the preparation and presentation of the food. Staff was very attentive to our needs. Would highly recommend!

We went on a Saturday for lunch. It's not visible from the street but kind of tucked into a courtyard. Small but fun with vibrant colors. I'm from Texas and this was not the Tex-Mex I'm used to. But so good! It's got a variety...of mole flavors, and a chips and mole sampler appetizer that was awesome. Even if you think you don't like mole, you will enjoy one of the flavors because they are all so different. The mole rosa made me laugh every time I ate it because it was so sweet. I chose a mole verde plate and it was delicious. My friend had a chile relleno and she loved it.More

We had the luck to wander in to Fiesta Oaxaca and both their fish tacos and the seafood soup were delicious. The broth for the soup was done just right, smoky, and full of a selection of seafood. The wait staff were attentive and friendly.

We were hungry after visiting the Georgia O'Keefe Museum and took a chance - so glad we did! Almost every menu item has a vegan option. I had the vegan mole verde and it was so good I wish I could go back right now....My sister had the fish tacos and said they were excellent. The margaritas were great as well. This was one of the best meals we had in Santa Fe, and one of the least expensive.More

While my Chicken Mole really hit the mark, unfortunately my Cajeta tres leches cake, which I was so looking forward to, did not. Sadly, the cake didn’t seem moist at all, as if it had never been soaked in “three milks” at all. The whipped...topping tasted more like cool whip than real whipped cream. The only positive was the Cajeta caramel that topped the slice. I just expected better given such overall positive reviews…More

Low-key restaurant with lovely, complex Oaxacan food, and Oaxacan food is some of the best in the world. Moderate prices. Between the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum and the plaza.

Dinner was ok, although the ‘Oaxacan mole’ was not the dark, rich mole we all expected. In fact, we may have all received the wrong mole ( tamarind) altogether. Still, it was tasty. Our biggest complaint would be that a bottle of Dos Equis (...and all other beer) was a ridiculous $9. Those kind of airport prices leave a bad taste in your mouth. We won’t return. Much better Mexican food is easy to find in Santa Fe.More

Not your average Mexican restaurant serving run of the mill Americanized Mexican food. The chef’s authentic moles are truly fantastic. There are a few conventional choices for the less adventurous diner. The margaritas are excellent. They do not short pour, so be ready.
