The atmosphere and home feel environment is a bonus... If you want authentic food, this is the place. The staff will always make suggestions as to dishes and wines to enhance your dish. The fries, crepes, mussels and THE BREAST OF DUCK.....must try! Melt in your mouth goodness! This has been added to our must eat at list when we... More

Excellent food and service ! A small close together crowded but worth it . The portions are huge and can be shared . Good wines! The best and largest portion of foie gras I have ever been served on a Belgian waffle with a cherry basalmic reduction . Rich and delicious !

This restaurant is in old town and has excellent Belgian food --- reminded me of a small Belgian Cafe in Brussels. Great beer and good service, priced moderately. and good extensive menu .This time I went for lunch and the menu was varied and I had a hard time deciding what to get -- I ended up with a delicious... Four courses of our own choosing (although there was an inviting 3-course prix fixe option too). We began with perfectly seared foie gras served on waffle. Next a beautiful Belgian endive salad perfectly dressed and seasoned. On to mussels (we chose the mariniere and basque sauces) with frites that were crisp from start to finish. Finally, a Belgian chocolate mousse.... More

Hubby and I like to look for off-the-beaten path places to dine when we travel. We avoid the typical tourist traps and chain restaurants whenever possible. After reading a few reviews, we decided to walk from our hotel on the River Walk to this tiny family-run establishment in Southtown. Their specialty is Moules Frites, fresh mussels with a choice of... More

A local chef recommended La Frite- Belgian bistro as a place to eat off the riverwalk (where all the chain busy restaurants are). It was lovely. The mussels with Thai curry were the best. Three of us used them as our appetizer. I had the hanger steak- wonderful- plenty of food with fries and fresh veggies for $22. Husband had... More

This is the closest I have felt to being in Brussels, since I was in Brussels. We had Mussels, Foie Gras, Coq au Vin and a bottle of Cab and got out for less than $100! Love this place!!!

I like European food and this is a unique offering in San Antonio. The menu is fairly priced and the food is very tasty (with one exception...skip the shrimp bisque). This venue is great for two or four, but bigger groups are difficult for the restaurant, especially when trying to split the check more than two ways. We could not... More

Wanted something other than Mexican. Downtown. Unique. This was a wow! My husband had the sole and I had the mussels. It was one of the best meals ever. Not a fancy place but has some character. The frites (french fries) were very very good.... Only bad thing is the parking. Good wine list.

I always consider restaurants to "match" if the ambiance, taste and price are all in the same range. In La Frite Belfian Bistro, I think there is a balance. The ambiance was nice, with a comfortable feel. Not too noisy, not too over air-conditioned, and the lighting was fine. The service was OK, if not a bit hectic. The food... More
