Saturday, we had the typical hot buffet - eggs, omelets, bacon, sausage, French toast, biscuits, fruit, oatmeal, coffee and juice. It was awesome. Sunday was a brunch to include prime rib, ham, the best bread pudding I have ever had! Well worth the money!

Had the huevos rancheros, and it was wonderful. They do have a breakfast buffet, but I never eat enough to make a buffet worthwhile. The restaurant would have received a 5 star rating, but my server never refilled my coffee cup. I had asked for the check when the food was brought as I had to catch a flight out... More

This restaurant, in the Menger Hotel probably never served Teddy, but the adjoining bar is where TR recruited his Rough Riders before heading off to take part in the Spanish American War. The hotel is a historic "gem" and the restaurant is charming. Be sure to try to sit in the alcove near the curved windows overlooking the garden. Ask... More

The Colonial Room Restaurant is located inside the historical Mengar Hotel. It is a very nice restaurant where you can come as you are or be as "fancy" as you would like. The breakfast buffet is delicious, with fresh fruit, pastries and made to order eggs.

Service was nice and attentive. $16.95 for adult buffet with drink. The omelettes were great! The breakfast potatoes were gross but everything else was good!

My wife and I had dinner on a Monday night. The service was magnificent - the kind of service I have only experienced in the better places in London. The food was well plated, well presented, and perfect. You have to try the Mango ice-cream! You have to get reservations well in advance.

The Filet Bernaise was literally the best steak I've ever had. I can't wait to go to San Antonio again.

Description
Built as an addition to the original hotel and later remodeled by San Antonio architect Atlee B. Ayres in 1912, the Colonial Room Restaurant reflects the prevailing neoclassical style of its time. Decades of elaborate balls and parties have been hosted in this room.Among the celebrities who have dined here are Presidents Grant and McKinley, Robert E. Lee, and French actress Sarah Bernhardt. The Colonial Room Restaurant's famous mango ice cream was served at both of President Clinton’s inaugurations. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Colonial Room Restaurant features a fabulous noontime brunch and traditional entrees such as prime rib au jus and lamb shank with linguini. Don't miss the popular Sunday brunch buffet, which tastes even better at a table in the garden courtyard.
