This was our first visit to San Antonio, so of course we had to do the tourist thing and try Tex-Mex on the Riverwalk. We went on a busy Friday night, and we were told about a 25 minute wait. We wanted to stay out...by the Riverwalk, but we were told they would only announce waiting parties in their back patio area. We sat back there and waited. We noticed other families or couples could go ahead and get drinks and chips from the bar, but since we weren't ordering drinks we decided to wait. The patio also had a really foul smell (like trash combined with sewage) which as a pregnant person, was relatively tough to endure. The wait was about as long as we were told, however. We had requested outdoor seating, so we could view the Riverwalk, which was nice. Considering how busy and packed they were, our waiter was really nice, attentive and showed up just the right amount. What we weren't expecting was an employee to show up to all the tables to take pictures of everyone. She says it is complimentary and for the restaurant, but beware, it is also a selling tactic. Before your meal is over, she will come back with pictures she took of your table to sell. She gives you one complimentary picture complete with a watermark, and you can purchase 1 for $15 and 2 for $20. We politely declined. The food was really good, not 5 star most amazing Tex-Mex on the planet, but still really good and tasty. I had nachos while my husband had the Street Tacos. He is quite the connesieur with street tacos, and his verdict was that it was really good, but he has had better before. We would not say it's mediocre and bland and only worth coming for the views-- the food was definitely better than average, and surely satisfying enough for the Riverwalk experience. We would definitely return when we visit San Antonio again. If you're local, I'm sure there is better, but if you're a visitor, give it a go!More

Rita's is a tourist Mexican restaurant on the San Antonio River Walk. They offer a pleasant respite if you can get a table Riverside. If not you're packed in the open air restaurant. Rita's offers giant expensive margaritas with your choice of beer/wine inserted. Not...my idea of a margarita. The food was Ok but living in Texas we have the opportunity to have some great Mexican Food. Our server, Bianca, was pleasant and working very hard to keep up with the weekend crowd.More

We stopped at Rita’s on the River after visiting the Alamo. We sat outside but unfortunately it was breezy and we were right under a tree so debris kept falling on us as well as our food lol. With that aside, the food was delicious...and we enjoyed watching the people while we ate!More

We love Mexican street food, and enjoyed tableside made guacamole and tamales. The only thing I would say against the service was we didn't get to finish the guacamole before our mains arrived.

My wife and I try to go to Rita’s every time we go to San Antonio. The fajitas are amazing and so is the chili con queso! And...it looks out to the River Walk. A little pricey but always busy, so expect a little wait,...but it is well worth it!More

On our visit to San Antonio we were walking the River Walk around dinner time. The place looked lively enough, so we decided to have dinner here. The margaritas were just ok and the food was mediocre. I've had better food at cheap Mexican restaurants...at home. The server was good but the food was not worth what we paid. This was a tourist trap on the River Walk, and yet you see the River Walk, but for good food, there are better places in San Antonio.More

My wife and I ate here during a trip to San Antonio for the Stock show and Rodeo. The place was very crowded but the staff moved people through very efficiently. We were able to wait at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive....We got a table, ordered fajitas and shared a Texas size margarita. Our meal was good and the service was good. Good place to eat if you’re on the river walk.More

I did not want to visit this restaurant but the group I was with wanted to as they said it had the best margaritas around town. We ordered a pitcher of the original margarita on the rocks.....worst margarita I have ever had bland and tasted...artificial. I had the beef enchiladas, again nothing special no different then what I can get at the cheap Mexican place @ Home. Overall I would never pick to stop here, not great food, not great prices, just another Riverwalk Tourist TrapMore

It is a very busy restaurant, so don’t expect the wait staff to be super attentive. The food was good and we saw that they had massive margaritas that looked delicious. Would eat here again.

We chose Rita's because we were recommended it by a few people on Trip Advisor. We arrived at Riverwalk a little too early for dinner so we had a walk and a drink somewhere else and then went to Rita's at 8pm. Please note, their...advertised closing time on a Sunday is 10pm. We were asked to wait 10 mins for an outdoor table to be ready before we could sit so it was around 8:10pm by the time we sat down. We ordered margaritas as this is supposed to be their speciality and they were way too sweet - not what we expected at all. Qhen the food came, again, all the dishes were very disappointing, just average. And the worst of all was they started stacking the tables and chairs halfway through our dinner. We ignored it until they came and actually tried to take our salt & pepper shakers - while we were still eating! I must have looked shocked as the guy said "oh you still need them? No problem!"??? Once I finished my food, I took my son to the loo to wash his hands and when I came back, my husband said the waiter took away what was left of my margarita saying "sorry, we are closed now" at 9:16pm!!! The people who were sat at the table next to us (who arrived about 15 mins after us) actually argued with the waiter to keep their drinks which were still pretty full. We are very disappointed with both the food / drink quality and the service and I think it is very safe to say that we will not be returning, or recommending this place to anyone!More
