Amazing food and cleanliness. In these times that we are in, it was wonderful to see the staff go to such length to clean between customers to prevent the spread of disease. I watched the staff clean the check folders and the pens customers were using. If the are going to this length to clean then you know everything else is getting cleaned just as good. Add to the fact that the food was great only added to the enjoyment.

A great small business just north of downtown San Antonio. Gay Caparelli owns this location and her family has been in the restaurant business for three generations. This restaurant is more upscale and has a much wider variety on the menu than the other Caparelli restaurants in San Antonio. Lots of great seafood options here. The hardest part is choosing just one entree.
Suggest reservations for busy nights like Friday and Saturday. With the wife and sister in law in tow we arrived and were promptly seated at a table marked reserved. Best seat in the house in the back corner with a view of entire restaurant.
They have a very extensive wine list and tonight we enjoyed a Giesen Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.
Salad first. Both the house and Caesar salads are excellent. They also have excellent garlic bread they bring out.
For my entree I chose the Chicken basil pesto cream sauce with farfalle pasta. The chicken was tender and moist and pasta perfectly cooked. The portions are very large and we took home a lot of leftovers. My wife enjoyed the veal picatta. Very tender. Unfortunately they will be taking it off the menu due to inflation soon. Look at those fabulous, fresh sauteed vegetables. enough for a meal by themselves. My sister in law had the chicken picatta and was impressed. Very tender and juicy. She commented so many other restaurants serve dry chicken.
Much love to Gay and her team. Serving great food with great service.

Oh my goodness- just delicious!!! My husband ordered the veal piccata and raved over it. Sliced thin and tender. I had the spicy bow tie pasta with chicken and a red cream sauce. So yummy. They have a nice wine selection too. We finished dinner with the tiramisu. Ellie, our server recommended it and we were thankful that she did. Lauren, the manager, did a splendid job decorating the plate. It was a work of art. Thank you for an enjoyable dinner!!!

Capparelli web site says that their "overall mission is to provide an option for the community and its visitors to enjoy homemade Italian food while making patrons feel comfortable in our family environment." to that I say, Mission Accomplished.
they have a decent menu. we were a family of seven. all servings were quite good, everything arrived at the table at the right time and serving size was perfect. the service is both efficient and professional.
I would venture to say that this establish is one of those rock solid community venues that are worth returning to many times.
the dining room is pleasant and inviting. there is outdoor seating. very easy access for the elderly.
my only comment is that for an American-Italian restaurant, it is probably a bit too pricey by about 10-15%.

There was a bit of a wait on a Saturday night, but the staff was incredibly friendly and sweet, seated us outside to wait, served us drinks, and then were super wonderful once we were seated. Don’t miss anything piccata, the salad dressing is delish (and is heavily dressed, as other reviews said, but I was not mad about it). Kids portions are hearty, and two small kids could split one (they actually encouraged it!) especially after they eat the complimentary garlic bread. We were here visiting family nearby, and hope to come back. Our waitress, “V” was the best! Highly recommend.

Since my last visit in June of last year...I can only say that the quality has taken a nose dive. The sauces were more water and lack lustre than one can imagine or describe...
As of last year, I have lived overseas for 30 years and know all too well not to compare Italian-American to Italian cooking. Two different animals. But any American can prepare a basic tomato sauce much better than I was served.
The single solitary meatball was tasteless and tough to cut thru. The garlic bread was a non-event.
I do not like to complain too much or cast disparaging comments about. But the meal was disappointing.
That said, the service is stellar. Miss Jayline and Tommy are at their best. Delightful as well as efficient.
***the TA questions below ask if the retaudrant serves Tuscan, Romana or Sicilian food. The answer is plainly and categorically - no. I don't know what its is....sorry.

Great little hideaway restaurant. Had supreme pizza and was very good. Service was solid and not too crowded on a Saturday night. Family had chicken Marsala and no complaints. Moderate price.

I found Capparelli's in a Tripadvisor search. It was excellent. Tortellini shrimp primavera came with light, fluffy tortellini. Shrimp were tender cooked. The primavera sauce was perfect. Shrimp farfalle pesto was served with bow tie pasta which was cooked al dente, my preference. Again, shrimp were perfectly prepared and the sauce was delicious. Caesar salads were fresh, cold, served on chilled plates. The dressing was light and not over powering. The waiter paired perfect wines for us; his service was attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal which we decided was the best during our four days and hope to return on our next trip to San Antonio.

We started with the "Italian Wedding Soup". Wow! It was delicious! Chicken broth with spinach, escarole, carrots, mini shell pasta, and meatballs! Outstanding! Then we shared "The Super Sloppy Texan" an open-faced sandwich on an Italian roll. It had pepperoni, Canadian bacon, salami, mushrooms, black olives, and jalapenos smothered in red sauce, mozzarella and baked. It was excellent! We finished up with tiramisu. Wife said it was the best ever, I had no argument. They also have a full bar but we had tasty iced tea. We brought home most of the "Texan" and look forward to reheating! Great meal at a reasonable price and the service was good!

Stopped for lunch on a rainy Saturday and there were only two other diners but whilst we were there another table of 8 came in. Everyone received the same attentive and friendly service and the staff were so welcoming.
The food was absolutely amazing - I had the cheese tortellini and the husband had spaghetti with meat sauce and we cleaned our plates and ate all the bread too as that was lovely and fresh.
Price was not cheap but what you would expect for a decent dining experience in an upmarket area of San Antonio.

The matriarch of our family passed away at the age of 96. All of her children and many of her nieces and nephews and spouses came to San Antonio for the funeral. We had a lovely dinner the night before in the upstairs Loft at Capparelli's on Main. The service was great, the food and drinks were great, and we all had a very good time. It couldn't have gone more perfectly. This is a wonderful place with reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. My husband and I have been there several times and will continue to go back for special occasions, sometimes just a dinner out.

A restaurant gets overall ratings for ambience, service and food. Of all these the quality of food is the most important for me.
I had eggplant parmigiana sandwich and later that evening I had stomach flu. From the taste, I think the food is not made fresh here. It is stale food. The pasta sauce is not made fresh. The kids meal came with garlic bread which was burnt. Overall, it is not a worthy place to eat italian food.
However, service is good and waitress are super friendly and do their best.
Most of the good reviews are mainly of nice people are around.
Food is hopeless and stale. Those who are sensitive to stale food will end up with stomach flu..

Excellent, I have the veal parmesan. There were 6 of us and each of us finished their meal. If I have any criticism it would be the use of heresy chocolate syrup being used on a Great Cannoli.

Capparelli's is our favorite place to go to eat when we are in town. It is a true neighborhood, quaint restaurant with incredible food. We are so happy that we found this place several years ago.

When my date and I arrived no one greeted us and we had to ask a server to be seated. There isn't really a hosting area. So I felt a little awkward standing and waiting for someone to seat us. Once we were seated we had good service although our server forgot to give us utensils even after we received our appetizer. Everything was delicious. Only thing I didn't like was too much dressing on the salad. I will be going back.
