The finest restaurant in San Antonio is no more, and it is a terrible shame. Bella was incredible on so any levels. It had the finest service, due to keeping the most tenured staff in the city. It had a great wine selection, carefully curated...by the owner. It had the greatest meals, perfectly prepared with creativity and the finest ingredients. And Bella had to close because the fools that run this city believed they had the authority to decide who and what was essential, and what was not. This is a sad result of governmental overreach and overreaction. Now, good people are out of work. Others life savings and investment can never be recovered. A beautiful business loved by many is gone for good. Hotels are empty. The convention center is empty. Fine dining is disappearing. The Majestic theater is empty and quiet. Is this living? Is this worth it? I don't think so. Remember this when Judge Wolff and Mayor Nirenberg are up for re-election. Let them know that we do not choose to live in a non-accountable autocracy, and put them on the street. Let them figure out where their next meal is coming from. It sure isn't coming from Bella.More

Much better than the restaurants along the Riverwalk. Bella's chef pays attention to the food and it shows. Service also was very good - recommended wines completed our dinners well. We returned to dine again on the last night of our stay.

Superb restaurant. Best one I visited in San Antonio. Superb food. Lovely open room with choice of high or low tables. Patrick our waiter ( he also could be the owner ) on the night very attentive and knowledgable . Lamb chops to die for....Cooked to perfection. Red snapper also perfect. Wine superb and served at optimum temp. Quite expensive but worth it for the qualityMore

We had a great dinner. Bonus - we were early, and the host recommended a wonderful bar nearby - wish we could remember its name!

We stumbled onto this lovely restaurant while looking for a light dinner spot before a show at the Aztec Theatre. The lobster bruschetta and antipasto were delicious, as was their recommended wine. Service was very friendly, attentive and prompt. We will absolutely return on the...next San Antonio trip.More

We typically dine downtown San Antonio on the Riverwalk prior to attending an evening performance at the Majestic Theater. We elected to dine at Bella's based upon very favorable reviews and proximity to the venue. From the warm welcome to the conclusion of our dining...experience, we were impressed throughout our four-course meal. This will be our principal dinner destination prior to attending any performance at the Majestic or other Riverwalk venue. The food was incomparably prepared and the wait staff attentive, courteous and not overly intrusive. Our dining experience was truly 'Beautiful'!More

My wife and I dined at Bella on Houston when we were in San Antonio in February 2020. Overall, it was disappointing. We started with beef carpaccio, which was fine. For entrees, my wife had duck while I had paella. The duck was very poorly...prepared- tough, dry and not flavorful at all, and nearly inedible. As a duck connoisseur, she was extremely disappointed. My paella was also not prepared well. Rather than being saffron-infused, richly flavored with seafood, and with crisp pieces of rice at the bottom, it was bland, tasted of tomatoes, and more akin to Spanish rice than paella. Also worth noting was the roasted garlic olive oil served with the bread, which was good The server left the empty skin of the garlic bulb on the plate, which I suppose is meant to demonstrate it is authentic, but is not appetizing. Surprising, we were seated immediately next to another couple even though there were other empty tables available. The service itself was good. Overall - not recommended. there are many better options in San Antonio.More

My brother and I have dined here about 4 times over the last two weeks and were never disappointed. The eggplant Josefina is as good as it gets and the Wagyu beef was perfectly cooked and delicious. The service staff is exceptional and the owner...(David I believe) is always there and on top of it. We'll be back soon!More

Only on Friday do they do lunch. We shared the paella-for-two, which was superb. Also had a glass each of the "featured wine," which was a tasty sauvignon blanc, a delightful bargain at $5. The ambiance is great; our server Amanda couldn't have been nicer,...and the greeting was warm and friendly. We hope people will pile in on Fridays so they will expands their days.More
