My son and I arrived thinking Ernesto's would be a typical Mexican food restaurant. Boy were we wrong. Our drink order was delivered immediately but the real treat was Ernesto coming to our table and explaining the menu. Yes, he's a marketer but he does it so well you simply enjoy his recitation of the menu. The chips arrived with... More

When we walked in we were confused by the atmosphere. It looked like a fine dining restaurant at first glance. Then you notice the stackable foam cushioned chairs. There was red carpet throughput. I just happen to find carpet in a restaurant grotesque. The dinning room is outdated. There was a gentleman next to the door playing his guitar and... More

This small restaurant has been located in a partially occupied strip center off Vance Jackson/Loop 410 for 30 years. It is family owned and still has Ernesto seating patrons and offering specialties off the menu. It is always a pleasure visiting this unusual venue with Mexican seafood specialties with a French flair. Ceviche and flan in San Antonio began at... More

Ernesto's does not live up to hype I read from other reviews or what you expect by what the owner says. The owner is a great marketing guy because after he comes to your table and talks about the food, your expectations are quite high. However, the food is quite disappointing. Everything is just ok. The owner took our order... More

Great seafood and French sauces with a Mexican flair! This is really upscale food. The owner makes you feel like a guest in his home.

My family groaned a little when I said we were going to a Mexican restaurant for the third time in 3 days on our San Antonio trip.......but this turned out to be unlike any dining experience we have had. Owner greeted us and explained all of the choices and also offered to prepare anything not on the menu. The menu... More

Excellent food. Many great sauces are a mixture of French and Mexican influence. A luxurious-atmosphere restaurant. Excellent personal service by owner, Ernesto. No need for menu, the owner will take care of you. I wish we had not been pressed for time.

Chips were thick n a bit hard/crunchy, green sauce was good but mussed traditional salsa. Super chalupas were tasty n fresh. My friend liked her chicken tacos al carbon with a nice portion of guacamole. It doesn't look like a Mexican food place, more like a lounge/former Chinese buffet with lounge music playing. Service was friendly and prompt.

Food and atmosphere both amazing. I had the shrimp, chicken and steak kabobs with orange glaze. For dessert, cinnamon ice cream with praline sauce. Omg the food was so good!!!!
