In another review I stated that the best part of visiting the River Walk is that I could park my car and never touch it again until I leave. La Fonda on Main is the one exception to that rule. It is by far my...More

I grew up dining in this restaurant when it belonged to the founding family. When Cappy Lawton bought it, he made some improvements to the building and to the menu. However, my last 2 visits have been less than satisfactory where the food is concerned....More

My wife and i went there. We liked the food a lot. The environment was also good Mexican-like. The waitress took longer than usual sometimes so that could have been better. I will still recommend it!

We started the evening with margaritas which were average at best. For appetizers, we ordered the daily special, empanadas de huitlacoche (a very tasty corn fungus!) which was truly exceptional. Guacamole came next. Not great and the chips, though freshly made, we're thin and tasteless....More

Allen Flowers - They are very close, maybe 1/2 mile at most - southeast of La Fonda on McCullogh, which is parallel to Main and a block east.
