This was a special occasion for us, and Bliss did not disappoint. It was a lovely experience from start to finish. My reservation was in their system, and we were seated right away. The ambiance was charming. The service was excellent. We had the scallops...(unbelievably delicious) and split the butter cake for dessert. The waiter picked out a lovely French wine to pair with our entree. I enjoyed every minute. Although we cannot afford to splurge like this very often, if you’re going to splurge for a special occasion, Bliss is a great choice.More

Very low key, you can have a conversation in this very nice restaurant. The professional wait staff is the best you will find in the USA. The bone marrow appetizer was excellent. They do not sell spirts, just wine and beer, but for us, wine...is essential for fine dining. The special was a grilled snapper, that was done to perfection. A very interesting ice cream was celery flavored, wow!More

From Seth opening the door for me to Brett's attentive service and the whole staff's kindness and amiability, to the tenderloin and dessert...did I mention the dessert? I am gluten free and they were perfectly accommodating. This is a LOVELY restaurant and I'll return any...time I'm in town.More

On our last night in San Antonio, my two friends and I dined at this fabulous restaurant to celebrate our 65th birthdays. Bliss is a small space with an outdoor patio, tiny bar area and a chef’s table in the kitchen. We shared a bottle...of wine and the grilled Spanish octopus. The octopus was grilled to perfection, not rubbery, and was served with crispy potatoes and white bean & avocado purée. So good! My friends had the beef tenderloin and both loved their entrees; although one was cooked more than the other and both were ordered to be cooked medium. The tenderloin was topped with crispy onion rings and came with potato gratin, cauliflower and shishito peppers. I had the pan-seared red snapper served with cilantro risotto and wild mushrooms. The snapper had a nice crisp on top and was moist and flaky. Delish! Our server Leah was attentive and engaging. She asked what we were celebrating and we told her our 65th birthdays. She brought out a trio of sorbet we ordered for dessert which had 3 candles for us. Nice touch. I was very surprised, though, that this upscale place charged us the $12 for the dessert and not comp it for our birthdays…especially when the bill was $300 without tip. It would’ve been a sweet gesture. That being said, we did enjoy our experience and this dinner at Bliss was the perfect ending to our trip.More

So, if you’re hedging a bit on whether or not to do the chef’s table let me just say….DO IT! Do it. Tony, Zach, Isaac, Stephen, Miguel, Jason, Daniel, Dee Dee, and DJ cooked for us. Ashley rocked like a DJ moving a full compliment...of wine pairings and dishes onto and off of our table. One of her comments was, “I like working here because it’s like family.” Well, bingo! Family is how you feel while sitting in the kitchen with them all. Food was fantastic, they killed it. The service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was an awesome event. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! So, do it. Do the chef’s table. Take some friends and go.More

The title says it all. I visited Bliss for the first some some years ago in the Before Times. Was back in San Antonio this week for an in person event and decided to re-visit on a whim. No reservations, but no problem getting a...table (but it was a Wednesday - reservations recommended!). It was just as good as I remembered, and I will be back the next time I am in San Antonio!More

We ate here for our anniversary dinner. We make a point to look for upscale, highly rated restaurants for our anniversary dinner in whatever city we've chosen for that year. I usually look for white tablecloth restaurants, and I was a bit apprehensive about Bliss...because they don't have white tablecloths. Bottom line: I didn't miss those tablecloths a bit!! The atmosphere is quiet, welcoming, and elegant. Our server was very knowledgeable about each menu item and provided detailed, descriptive explanations for each item we asked about. The food was AMAZING! The combination of flavors and textures in each dish were perfect... exquisite... delicious! We had octopus as our appetizer and our entrees were red sbapper and scallops. All three were cooked perfectly! We were quite pleased. It is obvious that the chef here puts a lot of thought and creativity into each dish. Our only complaint: they knew it was our anniversary and told us happy anniversary when we were first seated, but we missed having celebratory dessert plates (candle, "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate, etc).More

One of the best restaurants we’ve ever been to, in San Antonio or elsewhere. Very diverse menu all of which is very well prepared. Good wine selection, and the desserts are exquisite. A must visit when in SA!

This was such an amazing dining experience. Candace was an excellent server and was able to recommend great dishes. Although I dined alone, food was very well paced; nothing was rushed. Everyone who touched the table was professional, warm, and polite. The food was outstanding....I started out with the brown sugar glazed pork belly musubi, then they are able to do the seared foie gras ala carte, and I finished with a half portion of the dirty rice stuffed quail. I dined outside and it was perfect. This was the best dining experience I’ve had in a while. Thank you all for a great evening.More

On our last night in San Antonio we had dinner at Bliss. The primary reason for choosing this restaurant was the good reviews for seared foie gras (we can’t get this at home). We started with the charred octopus and beef tartare served over bone...marrow. The octopus was good but the perfectly seasoned beef tartare was outstanding. It was served with toasted bread so thin they were almost were lacey in appearance but I wish it was thicker. We both ordered the duck breast with seared foie gras and it was amazing. The duck was perfectly cooked, still moist, and served on top of honey-spiked butternut squash puree and it also came with a refreshing frisée salad that balanced an otherwise heavy dish. I literally ate almost half before our server, Justin, came over to explain the dish. For dessert we had ordered the butter cake and chai tea ice cream sandwich. The butter cake was delicious but we took one bite of the chai tea ice cream sandwich and we did not like any of the flavors. Justin noticed the relatively untouched ice cream sandwich and when we told him we didn’t like it, he immediately took it away and removed it from our bill. Service throughout was amazing but him taking off that dessert just made it A++. We also spied a friendly white cat hanging out at the patio and turns out she’s a regular. Gave her a few pets and that made me happy. The only negative was where our table was located. The vents were blowing noticeably at us making it too breezy and cool for us. Unfortunately outside was 90+ degrees so it was either sweat or freeze.More

My wife and I don't live in SA but travel here 2-3 times a year. If at all possible, we have dinner at Bliss. Very classy restaurant without being pretentious. A fabulous wine list where each wine type is sorted lightest to heaviest which really...helps select say a lighter tasting white wine if that's what most interests you that evening. A road range of price points with noting in the ridiculous price range. Something delicious for everyone and a nice selection of "by the glass" options. A limited menu but has something for every taste. Among our selections, and not explaining all sauces, were a grilled Octopus appetizer, braised Beef Short Rib, Roasted Breast of Duck with Grilled Foie Gras and a Buttercake for two with white chocolate ice cream and fresh Raspberries. The table bread served is delicious, Mary was our server and has been there since they opened. She has been our server in the past. She cheerfully explains each preparation of a dish if you have any questions. It's as if she prepared them herself. Reservations are a must. Just a beautiful restaurant, very well run, and one of the most imaginative menus I've evr sampled.More

We had heard about Bliss for months and finally reserved a table. I was immediately impressed when we approached the door and a host opened the door and greeted us warmly. The atmosphere was very pleasant and we were greeted promptly by Gerardo, our server...for the evening. Love the menu presentation and the selections are not only original, but mouth watering. I had the oyster sliders and Branzino, and both were melt in your mouth delicious. The Branzino would be my choice if I were to go back next weekend! My wife is not a huge fan of duck, which comes with foie gras, but loves foie gras. Gerardo arranged for her to get an appetizer portion of foie gras and the George's Bank scallops for an entree. The scallops were perfectly prepared. The wine list is extensive but not overwhelming. A great selection of chewy reds or pinot noirs to match our entrees. Bliss might be the finest restaurant in San Antonio. We have to drive a distance to get there, but will happily do that again.More

Thanks to the amazing reviews on here, I had the ultimate dining experience at Bliss. Although it was a short Uber ride away, it was definitely worth the trip. None of the restaurants on the Riverwalk compare to this gem. Our server Maricela was exceptional-super...friendly, knew the menu inside and out, paired our entrees with wine and a great photographer. Both the scallops and duck entrees were a perfect 10. Bliss was the highlight of my visit to San Antonio for sure!More
