We typically dine downtown San Antonio on the Riverwalk prior to attending an evening performance at the Majestic Theater. We elected to dine at the Bliss restaurant based upon very favorable reviews and proximity to the venue. From the warm welcome to the conclusion of our dining experience, we were impressed throughout our four-course meal. This will be our principal dinner destination prior to attending any performance at the Majestic or other Riverwalk venue. The food was incomparably prepared and the wait staff attentive, courteous and not overly intrusive. Our dining experience was true Bliss!

LOML (Love Of My Life) and I decided to have a “date night” get dressed up a little (nice pants and jacket for me, dress with nice sweater as she gets cold easily for her) and splurge a bit on a nice meal out. Chose Bliss. This was an excellent decision! We arrived a bit early, but a table was ready nonetheless. We started with a charcuterie plate with 3 items after discussion with our very helpful and knowledgeable server suggested going from a 5 to 3 item since we were going to have entrees. Our 3 items were the smoked duck, and two cheeses: the ‘Bermuda Triangle” Brie and the Sar Vecchio. The smoked duck was excellent and the Brie provided a nice rich accompaniment. The sar vecchio with some honeycomb gave a nice palate cleanser (in my mind at least). She had the scallops which were highly recommended by previous reviewers and by our server. I had the wild boar. Both were great! Flavorful and tender with their beds of cheesy grits and polenta respectively. With barely enough room we decided to split a butter cake dessert. Good choice to split as it’s about 5 inches in diameter and very rich. Overall an excellent experience and meal which we will be back to do again. We were even thinking of what other 2 couples we could invite along to get to the minimum 6 needed for the Chef’s Table!

The food and service are absolutely first-rate and utterly amazing. One of the best meals in the history of my stomach. We ate here two years ago when visiting and had to return again. Made reservations to sit outside (the only way we eat during the pandemic) and Bliss has two lovely patios that even dog friendly (we left the three Whippets in the car due to the cat that roams there). We started with the Oyster Sliders which are crispy and come on amazing buttermilk biscuits. The candied bacon that comes with them is worth the price of admission alone. My wife had the special of the night which was Snapper; superb. Sorry, didn’t get all the details of how it was served but it was fantastic. I had the braised beef short ribs which were fall off the bone tender and easily the best short ribs I’ve ever eaten. The horseradish creme fraiche on top was subtle and a perfect pairing with the meat. Just off the charts superb. The entire staff is friendly and professional and we were treated like royalty. Our main server was Bret who was charming and a joy. While not inexpensive, it was a very memorable meal worth every penny. SA is very lucky to have such a wonderful high-end restaurant as Bliss.

Stuffy atmosphere, 3 shrimp cost $46 and was on a bed of avocado rice. Strange. Craft beer only. Overpriced wine, $10+/one glass. Extremely small portions. I ordered a salad, there wasn't much to it. Olive garden makes better salad. I would not recommend this restaurant, unless you just like spending money and eating small bland portions. It's just not worth it.

My husband and I had the pre-fixe dinner with a well paired white Pinot Noir. My husband loved the branzino, which reminded us of our time in Italy, and he devoured the butter cake. Everything was delicious, and our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. He even offered to wait a little while before submitting our dessert order to the kitchen (so our food could settle a bit), which I really appreciated. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Best dinner out in a long time! Worth a long trip to get here. Great food, great ambiance and great service. We will especially be back for the fried oyster sliders- every detail/ingredient is pure perfection!

I will talk about my experience at this restaurant for the rest of my life. We were embraced by the entire staff especially Chef Tony and treated like royalty. As far as I am concerned, this is the number 1 restaurant in San Antonio and if you don’t go here, you are missing out! The ambiance and the food is perfection! Chef Tony has created a crave worthy menu with pairings to satisfy the palate. Plan on spending some time here so that you can order and enjoy all of the courses. This is truly a special place and thank you to everyone who was working when we were there for an unforgettable experience. XO, the girls from Grand Rapids Michigan

On our last night in San Antonio, my two friends and I dined at this fabulous restaurant to celebrate our 65th birthdays. Bliss is a small space with an outdoor patio, tiny bar area and a chef’s table in the kitchen. We shared a bottle of wine and the grilled Spanish octopus. The octopus was grilled to perfection, not rubbery, and was served with crispy potatoes and white bean & avocado purée. So good! My friends had the beef tenderloin and both loved their entrees; although one was cooked more than the other and both were ordered to be cooked medium. The tenderloin was topped with crispy onion rings and came with potato gratin, cauliflower and shishito peppers. I had the pan-seared red snapper served with cilantro risotto and wild mushrooms. The snapper had a nice crisp on top and was moist and flaky. Delish! Our server Leah was attentive and engaging. She asked what we were celebrating and we told her our 65th birthdays. She brought out a trio of sorbet we ordered for dessert which had 3 candles for us. Nice touch. I was very surprised, though, that this upscale place charged us the $12 for the dessert and not comp it for our birthdays…especially when the bill was $300 without tip. It would’ve been a sweet gesture. That being said, we did enjoy our experience and this dinner at Bliss was the perfect ending to our trip.

Starting from simple yet unbelievable salad and a wine list that had wines that you don't see everywhere it was difficult to choose my entree. There were so many great choices but the short ribs stood out. Being a diabetic I was able to swap the vegetables without a problem. I dine out in NYC on a regular basic and everything we ate at Bliss easily rivaled the best you will get in the best restaurants here.

Our service was extraordinary. We were welcomed, seated immediately, given accommodation for a last minute request to sit outside, greeted by two different staff with beverages and general information. Our primary server, Russell- was engaging and made great recommendations- the Sliders are a must have....even if you dont think you like oysters. When it is difficult for business to find employees- we are all the more appreciative of those who made our visit so pleasurable. The food was 10+ . the simple things like having beverage napkins replaced due to sweating glasses...and the table wiped was the extra we found refreshing.

Bilss is an amazingly fine restaurant in every respect. The meal my wife and I had will be remembered for many years. First, the food is superb. We started with an appetizer of Hamachi sashimi tostadas which was simply amazing in flavor and texture. The special of the night was Wild Boar which I haven't had in decades. The boar was tender, tasty, moist and sat atop some absolutely delicious polenta. My wife had the Monkfish which the menu says is in an Amitriciana sauce which was so outstanding, I used every last bite of their excellent bread to soak up. We finished with the Chocolate bar which is like a flourless cake, mouse combo which was also utterly outstanding. The service is equally amazing, John took excellent care of us, knew the menu back and forth and was professional but equally friendly. I can't recommend Bliss more if you're staying in SA. Someday I'd like to return with 4 friends and book the "chef's table" but if not, I'll be happy to return for a meal off the menu; the dinner we had was one of the best meals in many, many moons!

The location of Bliss is somewhat interesting for such a fabulous spot in San Antonio. If you are staying on Riverwalk you will need to take an Uber to get here, but DO IT! You'll be treated to excellence in dining and service. The patio is peaceful, the food is prepared expertly with only the freshest ingredients and served timely and professionally. The owners check on each table making sure that their standards are met while creating a welcoming feel. Bone marrow was beautiful and unique while the himachi tostada was a work of art and a taste explosion. Thanks Bliss for a wonderful Anniversary experience!

So flavourful! I had the coconut soup which was just incredible (a "taste experience") and the gulf prawns which were also wonderful, esp with the accompanying cilantro risotto. Also tried my partner's ribs which were also fantastic. The server was friendly and I had reserved outdoor seating which was lovely and spacious and felt very safe covid-wise.

We ate here for our anniversary dinner. We make a point to look for upscale, highly rated restaurants for our anniversary dinner in whatever city we've chosen for that year. I usually look for white tablecloth restaurants, and I was a bit apprehensive about Bliss because they don't have white tablecloths. Bottom line: I didn't miss those tablecloths a bit!! The atmosphere is quiet, welcoming, and elegant. Our server was very knowledgeable about each menu item and provided detailed, descriptive explanations for each item we asked about. The food was AMAZING! The combination of flavors and textures in each dish were perfect... exquisite... delicious! We had octopus as our appetizer and our entrees were red sbapper and scallops. All three were cooked perfectly! We were quite pleased. It is obvious that the chef here puts a lot of thought and creativity into each dish. Our only complaint: they knew it was our anniversary and told us happy anniversary when we were first seated, but we missed having celebratory dessert plates (candle, "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate, etc).

On our last night in San Antonio we had dinner at Bliss. The primary reason for choosing this restaurant was the good reviews for seared foie gras (we can’t get this at home). We started with the charred octopus and beef tartare served over bone marrow. The octopus was good but the perfectly seasoned beef tartare was outstanding. It was served with toasted bread so thin they were almost were lacey in appearance but I wish it was thicker. We both ordered the duck breast with seared foie gras and it was amazing. The duck was perfectly cooked, still moist, and served on top of honey-spiked butternut squash puree and it also came with a refreshing frisée salad that balanced an otherwise heavy dish. I literally ate almost half before our server, Justin, came over to explain the dish. For dessert we had ordered the butter cake and chai tea ice cream sandwich. The butter cake was delicious but we took one bite of the chai tea ice cream sandwich and we did not like any of the flavors. Justin noticed the relatively untouched ice cream sandwich and when we told him we didn’t like it, he immediately took it away and removed it from our bill. Service throughout was amazing but him taking off that dessert just made it A++. We also spied a friendly white cat hanging out at the patio and turns out she’s a regular. Gave her a few pets and that made me happy. The only negative was where our table was located. The vents were blowing noticeably at us making it too breezy and cool for us. Unfortunately outside was 90+ degrees so it was either sweat or freeze.
