We have season tickets to Broadway in San Antonio at the Majestic. Toscana is a quiet Italian restaurant less than a block from the theater. Both of us have enjoyed our meals here, chicken marsala and veal piccata, nicely prepared. Service was excellent and price...not too high.More

We were well greeted at the door, but the subsequent service was mediocre. The server brought out the dipping oil, but we had to ask twice for the bread. The food was okay, but for the price, we expected more.

I visited Toscana on a whim during my last night of a 3-day stay in San Antonio. My friend and I had previously eaten on the Riverwalk to under-whelming meals so thought we'd try Italian this time (and it was just a couple of blocks...down the street from our Marriott on Houston St.) The advertised special (Blackened Chicken Breast over Fettucini Alfredo w/ Sundried tomatoes & Garlic Brussels Sprouts) caught my eye; even though there were very few patrons there around 8 p.m., we hoped this was not indicative of the food. To our delight it was not! I ordered the special, my friend ordered Pasta Primavera; both were as flavorful as the presentation was colorful. Both were very large portions (we ate our remainders for breakfast) and the prices were reasonable/moderate. Service was excellent; very good wine list. I'd go back in a heartbeat!More

Came to Toscana before a show at The Majestic. Had a reservation and the table was set up. For Tuesday nights, SA has specials at different restaurants. Toscana had a special on their website which they denied even having when asked. The menu they have...online is also not up to date and they claimed they couldn't make what was on their online menu. The portions are small for the price and the spaghetti and meat balls only came with two small meat balls.More

Group of 6 dropped in for dinner without a reservation. Seated quickly, waitstaff friendly and attentive. Wine list pretty good, the prices a little steep for a lot of red table wines (chianit, sangiovese). Small menu (which usually suggests expertise in those particular dishes). Food...was mediocre, and to add insult to injury - small portions. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't particularly good or memorable. Nobody in our small group would return.More

Took my grandmother there for her 89th birthday and upon entering the restaurant the girl who was our waitress went back to get a table ready as my grandmother is in a wheelchair. While waiting for her to return an older waiter with blonde hair...greeted us and explained all of their tables were reserved and he would have to get the owner to come out and see if we could dine there which was odd as there was only 1 other table being used in the restaurant currently and only one other table was seated the entire time that we were there. Our waitress was great and the food was good but I guess you have to dress like you have money or not be in a wheelchair if you want to eat there when the older gentleman with blonde hair is working. Would not recommend or return to this restaurant after being made to feel not worthy of eating there.More

There were 3 of us for dinner. We ordered a pizza with thin crisp crust, but got a pizza with bread-like crust. Nothing about dining here was anything to get excited about. The service was so-so. Would not return.

Wow was this a surprise. We went in for a glass of wine at the bar. The bartender served us and offered us menus. We decided to snack om something and when we left it was as if we enjoyed a fabulous meal. I wanted...a salad so ordered the house salad with blue cheese dressing. It was a nice salad with excellent homemade dressing. We ordered the crab cakes and kalimari off the hors d oeuvres menu. They were huge offerings. The light breading on the squid was complemented by the excellent marinara sauce. We also shared the crab cakes, all three came with a small salad on the plate. They were excellent as was the side sauce. The point of this review, we ate our fill without a main course. It was a superb meal.More
