Being Jamaican and being new to San Antonio, I was desperately searching for home cooked food and didn’t feel like cooking myself this time around. Sadly there is only about two to three Jamaican restaurants in San Antonio, much different from where I was previously....Found Jamaica Jamaica online and had my husband pick up some curry chicken with rice and peas and plantains. Was disappointed upon the first bite. First, the curry chicken is SUPER salty and the gravy is minimal and chunky . Frankly disgusting. The rice and peas were bland, somewhat hard , and looks like whoever made the food in general tried too hard to throw black pepper in it to make it “look seasoned” when it’s still nasty. Then , there was NO plantain in my plate nor my husbands. When we called the store, the person we spoke to claimed to be the owner and claimed they looked at a video and plantains were placed . But literally there were NONE in our plates - why would we lie about a few pieces of ripe banana? Then she rudely simply stated if we weren’t happy we don’t have to come back and the conversation ended. This place is a disgrace to Jamaican cuisine . And I had something as simple as curry chicken- imagine if we asked for jerk chicken or oxtail. Maybe they have the local population fooled but literally would never recommend this place to anyone else with my last breath.More

Since I am from Jamaica I am leery of Jamaican restaurants and I know it’s usually a wait so we visited late afternoon for lunch. The Rasta pasta with shrimp was spicy and delicious though I would recommend they prepare it with the tail off....My daughter had the jerk chicken which was very good even though the rice and peas were prepared slightly different than the norm it was also good. Chicken and beat patties also very good. Restaurant was dimly lit which gave it more of a nightclub vibe with reggae playing. It’s located in a strip center outside the downtown of San Antonio.More

First trip to Jamaica Jamaica today!! It will definitely not be my last! Great atmosphere and nice people. Food was awesome .. made me wish I was back in Negril at a roadside jerk shack. Took a couple patties to go for later and they...were great! Highly recommend that everyone gives it a try.More

We thoroughly enjoyed the Jamaican food it took us back to our fond memories of the island. It is amazing how the aroma in the air and the taste of the food can trigger such vivid memories. It is similar to the feeling you get...when you smell turkey roasting in the oven you can’t stop thinking about a Thanksgiving experience. We had the jerk chicken and it was just spicy enough to suit our tastes. Can’t wait to go back again when we are in the area. I was particularly amazed by how the only waitress was able to handle all of the tables. It took her a few extra minutes but she was very gracious so we didn’t mind at all.More

My wife took me and my son here to eat on a Saturday night. It wasn’t too crowded but the service was slow, kept saying our food was on the way. Then it came in to go boxes, they said it was after 8 so...they don’t use plates. Then when the food came it was bland, my wife had curry chicken it hardly had any flavor. I had jerk pork that wasn’t spicy and the order came with plantains but only two plantains. I will never go back here to eat and this is the worst Jamaican restaurant i have ever been too!!! I will definitely say stay away and find another Jamaican restaurant in San Antonio to eat at.More

So this was my first time eating Jamaican food so I’m not able to compare it. I will say that the food was good, the atmosphere was chill and clean, and the staff were very friendly. I will say I would like to return and...try another dish, hope that helps....More

We drove about 11 miles to come here and Everything on the menu that we tried was delicious. The curry chicken was hands down the BEST I’ve had in a very very long time. (Outside of Jamaica of course). Our server was very thorough and...attentive to our table. If your wanting fast food, this place isn’t for you. Good food takes time to cook so don’t worry... Soon come. If you want some authentic Jamaican food then this is the place for you.More

First, this location has moved. It's now in the shopping center across the street. With that, the space is also bigger-- much bigger. And, there's a bar now! Okay, on to the food. I have been here twice in the last couple of days and...I've gotten the same thing both times (I'll get something different the next time). I had rice & peas, cabbage, and plantains. All three were delicious! Of the three, my favorite was the cabbage, which I don't even really eat. The rice & peas were on point and I what I was most looking forward to today, despite my previous comment. lol Plantains are just icing on the cake for me. While I was there, another customer said oxtails were his thing and he was specifically ordering it to compare with oxtails he's used to eating. Once he was done, he told the owner that he really liked it and as he was on his way out, he said a couple of times that he would be back. I thought to myself, I will be back too. I need some more rice & peas in my life. lol All of the other customers ordered dishes with meat. Since I don't eat meat, I always look at meat eaters' food, just to see how appetizing it looks. The few dishes I was able to see, looked really good. Not sure what anyone else ordered though besides the one guy that ordered oxtails.More

I have had eaten jamican food since the late seventies and this place is the real deal. Though I have been here several times, I can seem to pry myself from eating anything other than the Jerk Chicken. Not because the other food is not...good, but rather because the Jerk Chicken is about as good as I have ever had. By stealing off of friend's plates, I have tasted their Brisket, Curry Chicken, and oxtail, all excellent. One warning, their hot sauce is real hot sauce, made with habaneros peppers. Last thing, don't forget to sign the wall before you leave.More
