We stopped in for a cocktail and we're amazed at this place. It was the middle of the week so the crowd wasn't bad and their happy hour deals were impressive. My husband snagged a cool little nook on the upstairs patio and we sat and people watched while enjoying their Moscow Mules. We will definitely be back to have... More

Nice place for a business lunch. Quiet but service is good and very friendly. I had the cheeseburger and my friend had bison. Great burgers just too much bread. Meat was great and cooked well. Nice atmosphere and great choice of drinks. Apparently a local place where real locals hang out so that made me happy.

I had read that the burgers were great. All 4 of us were very disappointed. The burgers were not cooked the way we asked- one medium and one well done. The rolls were cold so the burgers were not hot. The burgers were thin and the bun was so big it felt like you were eating a bread sandwich. Burger... More

Hard to get a table for 5 around dinner time, but we'll worth the hour wait. Disappointed the Hanger Steak salad was already gone, but the Wygu Ribeye made up for it. Amazing and cooked just right.

So glad we stopped here on a recent trip. We had lunch as well as stopped by one night for cocktails. The food is great and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Very quirky - cool decorations and a lot of history that you could almost feel while you were there. Forget the typical chains and stop by this place to... More

I am a native of San Antonio and just recently been going back to enjoy the nightlife downtown and the San Antonio Riverwalk. I had not been to the Esquire Tavern in 2 decades. I believe it was closed down for a while, anyway....I went to a concert at the Aztec Theatre (which has also been remodeled by the way)... More

This place was recommended to us. The bar was full on Friday night (no surprise) - the host invited us to their sister bar downstairs. OMG - go there first. Dark, quite, cool, great staff and creative drinks.

Normal tavern fare was augmented by unique offerings such as Duck Cassoulet, The duck was superb and the burgers were great. Everything was fresh and the service was great. Definitely coming back.

We spent 3 nights in San Antonio, and ate here our first evening. It was tacky, loud, a bit overpriced, and absolutely perfect in every way. The food manages to be both homey and a bit exotic (not to mention dang tasty); the wait staff can seem like pretentious hipsters, but man are they friendly and know their stuff. Liked... More

Visited during dinner time on a business trip with my group. Nice location, right on the River Walk. The restaurant itself is very dark, you can barely see your food. Bizarre decorations, dead animal heads on the walls everywhere. Wine servings were very small, more like a samplers. The food was mostly good, portions are decent size. For what it... More
