Good Chinese food. Good selection. Good service. The Cashew Chicken and Hunan Chicken are both delicious.

We’ve had dinner here other times and it has changed for the bad. The waiter bare lit spoke English and was in a bad mood. They used to serve wine and beer now they don’t. Even Chinese green tea is not served anymore unless you...want a Kyoto’s green tea. Food is now mediocre when it was acceptable. Won’t be coming backMore

I love Asian food but my wife doesn’t so I looked in on this place since it’s close to me. A little hard to find. Ordered Kung Pao chicken. My go to for first time visiting. Got take out. Came with fried rice in little...boxes. Not bad but very little spice. Not flavorful. Generous portion. Well prepared just not spiced well.More

Great place for a quick lunch meeting, the staff is always glad to see you and friendly. The food is well prepared and is always steaming hot when served. If you like oriental food you have an extensive menu to order from that sometimes is...hard to decide.More

We meet here twice a month at least for a Company employee meeting, each person can order what they want for lunch from the nice lunch menu and everyone seems to enjoy it and some usually have some left over to take home.

All the entrees we have tried are above average in quantity, and excellent quality ingredients. Good service, clean (restrooms, too) and always fresh flowers at the front desk. Very friendly, too. We will be back.

We had seen a great review in the local newspaper so decided to try this restaurant for lunch. There was ample food for lunch of good quality and a very good price. What was missing was anything interesting in the menu. The variety on the...lunch menu was poor: no noodle dishes, no imagination in the seafood or meat. We asked for a copy of the dinner menu and found the it also lacking in imagination and interesting food. If you want a solid Chinese meal with good quality, ample portions and a good price, this restaurant is for you. If you want a Chinese restaurant that will wow you, the House of Joy is not for you.More

This was our first time eating here and all of the food was delicious. Service was excellent and food served very quickly. The owner prepared a special dish for my wife which she had requested. Extra rice was given at no extra charge. Restaurant was...decorated very nice and tastefully to enjoy your meal in an aesthetic setting. We highly recommend this Chinese restaurant.More

Quiet and relaxing place for lunch with mostly inexpensive prices and some pretty good choices on the menu. The lo mein is pretty good here and used to be plentiful in terms of the amount of noodles served. Has there been a shortage on noodles...lately? Is there an embargo on Chinese food ingredients that we missed? Not sure what the cause might be but the quantity of noodles served was much less than last time we visited. We related this observation to our semi-fluent (in English) waiter. I just love it when you get that deer in the headlights look and know that any further conversation is futile. So we enjoyed our shrimp lo mein - what there was of it along with a slightly overcooked spring roll (still good) and usual fried rice. Not terribly dissatisfied with lunch, just a little disappointed in the inconsistency. When we cashed out, the owner/manager (?) asked us the usual "How was it?" question. When we related our observation again about the smaller amount of noodles, we once again got that deer in the headlighs look along with a barely audible "huh". If there is one thing I cannot stand, it's insincerity. As my Mom always said, "Don't ask the question if you don't want to know the answer", and I would add "do something with the information as warranted? So we signed the credit card receipt, grabbed our fortune cookies and left the nonplussed manager to contemplate his karma., get the ying of his yang, and seek out some lessons on how to respond to the customer and insure satisfaction for increased return visits.More

You're not going to find exotic fare here or even things like duck noodle soup, but what draws people is the lunch specials that are as inexpensive as you might find in a no-service Chinese take out place. Instead you get the choice of a...number of typical Chinese dishes, soup and an egg roll for under $7 at the lunch special. I had the hunan shrimp and the dish was well prepared with a variety of vegetables. I was a bit cautious about the shrimp given the price, but they were tasty and not a hint that they had overstayed their welcome in the kitchen. The service was attentive and friendly, although my waiter did not have very decisive opinions about some of the dishes I asked about. All in all, if you come for the lunch specials, it's a tasty and inexpensive meal.More

Nice restaurant in a strip-mall. Large number of menu items. The "Kung Pao Chicken" could have used more seasoning for my taste. The "Broccoli with Garlic Sauce" was very good.

I honestly don't know what to think of the reviews that denigrate the food here. To start with, the restaurant is bright and clean with table cloths (covered by plastic - can't blame them for trying to keep the laundry bill down). Nice greeting at...the door and quick seating. We were here at an off hour for lunch and there were only about 4 tables full. However, I do not agree that this is indicative of or a direct causal factor of the food service. There are quite a number of lunch specials to choose from. I had the shrimp lo mein and my wife, the beef lo mein. Along with the main entree, you have your choice of egg drop, won ton, or hot and sour soup. Most places just have egg drop and hot and sour. Both the won ton and hot and sour tasted exactly as they were supposed to. Very good. Then you have a choice of egg roll, spring roll, and seafood rangoon. Again, most places only have the choice of egg roll or the rangoon. Loved the crunchy spring roll. And lastly, you could get fried or steamed white rice. We chose fried and thought it tasted just fine. Plenty of beef in the one order and 8 or more U-18 shrimp in mine! Sure the shrimp were previously frozen, but I freeze shrimp myself and use them for dishes at home that taste great. And the noodles . . . my wife lived in Hawaii and said that the wide noodles they use here are authentic to the dishes there and harder to find for lo mein dishes in SA. Anyway, the food is a good deal anywhere you can find it all for $6.50!! Again, not too many Chinese food restaurants have such a wide selection of lunch entrees at this kind of price. The portions were definitely hearty as well. So don't be afraid of trying this place yourself. You may find plenty of joy in your lunch experience here as we did.More

My mom has always said that she doesn't like Chinese food. Knowing that she had never had it before I had to be very careful where I introduced her to it! House of Joy has such a great atmosphere, serene music and great wait staff!...The lunch menu is 2 pages long and specials are $6.50 between 11am and 3 pm. It is a full size meal that includes choice of rice, entree selection, choice of soup and choice of egg roll, spring roll or crab rangoon. I have taken my mom there at least 4 time and she just lights up when I ask it she would like to go to lunch at the House of Joy.More
