I have endured dealing with an abusive bartender the restaurant manager apparently allows to keep working there. So I went to this place, since my previous visit was okay, and sat at the bar. There was a different bartender from last night, a bald, light...skinned, slim, bearded guy. I expected decent service, this so called restaurant being in such an upscale location as the Pearl. However, I could not find a space clean area at the bar. The bar had no other customers there, so there was plenty of opportunity to square it away. I mean the entire counter had white particles all over it. The counter also had stains all on its surface from spilled drinks or food the procrastinating bartender neglected to clean. So when this procrastinating bartender approached, I asked him if he could wipe off the counter. He gave a look as if I had just said something rude for now having to do work. He grabbed a white rag, and brushed the white particles on my clothing, while acting as if he were only wiping the counter. I got out the chair to try to get out of the way of the rest of these white particulates being flung off the counter. I sat again, asked for a menu. The rude, procrastinating bartender acted as if confused, so I ordered what I had on a previous visit. He placed a wine cup in front of me, and just poured the sake I requested in it, when the actual sake cups were nearby him. I asked for a sake cup, he pulls out a dirty one from below the counter on his side, and placed that dirty thing in front of me. I told this guy working the bar the sake cup is dirty and it feels sort of sticky - he feigns confusion then claims there is nothing wrong with it. To just deny it when something is obviously wrong was basically gaslighting, a passive aggressive tactic of psychological abuse. At this point, I ask for his supervisor. This bartender gives me a grimace, and as he walks back with his supervisor, is already making excuses. I could see and hear him in the distance preemptively trying to cover for himself. I asked his supervisor for a sake glass, no issues, he just had a worried look on his face, grabs one of the clean sake cups, places that in front of me, and apologized. I decided to get the hostess to seat me elsewhere, and she led me to the sushi bar. Had to move, because there would've been a brawl had this guy working bar done even one more thing to screw with me, to be completely honest. The supervisor came to me again, asked me how I'm doing, so I reported this whole issue I've had with this bartender doing things to screw with me as if to provoke me into a violent reaction. He said he'd have a word with him later. I finally had no further issues from then on. Any waitress who saw to me, I made sure to also inform them about what happened, what this guy did, just so they would all know about this. Moreover, I was still charged full price for the meal, which as you see, utterly inspired me to type this dissertation about the vile experience I have suffered through at this toxic place. Avoid this so called restaurant. Save yourself the trouble.More

We dined here for lunch on a Friday (Veterans Day). The service was responsive and polite. We started with an appetizer (pot stickers) which were fabulous. My wife has the daily Bento Box, I had steamed buns and my daughter had the Dragon Roll. Fresh...selections with a Venezuelan and Peruvian twist on Asian food. We’ll dine here again.More

We stopped here while staying at Hotel Emma for dinner after ditching our earlier plans. The food, service, and neighborhood were all good - up until things got a bit disrupted as the waitstaff misplaced the neighboring tables credit card. The search was extensive and...many staff and patrons pitched in to try to find it, without luck. These things happen sometimes I'm sure, but it ended up being the most memorable part of the meal.More

We ordered 4 items to share. Octopus was done well, empanadas were pretty heavy and appeared to be store bought. Very good service. Outdoor dining area needed some cleaning attention.

Being from Seattle it’s hard to impress us with Nouveau Asian cuisine, but the chef of Botika teaches at the Culinary Institute next door, so this restaurant’s offerings are creative and tasty. Spicy tuna roll, very nice aioli fresh tuna/nori. Papaya salad-yum. Mushroom rice, creamy....Interesting twist on flan. Enough variety on the menu to appeal to many tastes.More

The food and the service are good. An interesting mix of different cuisines. A little expensive, but you are essentially paying for the prime location at the Pearl.

Botika was our lunch selection when we visited the Pearl Brewery Grounds. Upon our arrival, the brunch menu was being offered. We selected the Botika veggie bowl and the Chaufa Sur-Sur, the latter having a vegetarian option. Our ordering boo-boo though was missing to request...keeping the shrimp on the sur-sur dish, as we are pescatarians. Instead, we got the true vegetarian option (no sausage, no seafood) - our mistake. Still, both entrees were tasty and not overly filling. A couple of IPAs rounded out the meal. Enjoyable.More

Love the vibe here as well as the food. South American/Asian fusion. Especially enjoy the dragon roll, empanadas, potstickers, and steamed buns. Lovely craft cocktails and sake! Would not recommend for a quiet dinner for two, but rather when in the mood for a lively..."in-the-mix" vibe.More

Excellent food. We tried a large variety of the menu from the pot stickers to the octopus. Highly recommend the wings which had a great flavor and crust and the octopus was perfectly cooked, not the least rubbery and the sauce was great. The steamed...buns were fantastic and the mango homachi was super flavorful. We tried three of the mixed drinks and all three were balanced, good quality and highly enjoyed. The service was fast and attentive and even made us a fresh batch of brewed iced tea. Great meal enjoyed by all including our picky eaters. Thank you.More

Extraordinary menu with food to excite the palate. Derek, our server, was wonderful as he aided our understanding of the eclectic menu, which features Asian/Peruvian fusion. We ended up with some wonderful pot stickers and a bento box with arugula, avocado rolls, fries with a...special sauce and pork and rice. Food was tasty and filling. Nice selection of alcoholic beverages including one of our Peruvian favorites Pisco sour.More

I Really loved the Peruvian Japanese fusion, couldn’t be more natural since there are many Japanese descendants in Peru. Our sever was extremely professional and knew her ingredients. The pot stickers were excellent (spicy mustard on the side). The Katana’s edge cocktail with Japanese Whiskey...was excellent! My wife and her sister shared the teriyaki Chicken Chaufa (stir fried rice ) with Peruvian style brasa chicken. It was very good and large enough for 2 or 3 to share. I had the grilled octopus with chimichurri sauce on the edge. The huancaina potatoes were excellent!! The yellow queso fresco based sauce with olives and espelette peppers was excellent. The only flaw the entire evening was the octopus, it was slightly over cooked and a little tough but the sauce salvaged my dish. I don’t know why someone’s earlier review complained about food arriving at different times. Who wouldn’t want their food delivered when it’s fresh and hot. Obviously this guy hasn’t dined in Europe. If you want to try a different spin on Japanese food and want excellent service in a nice setting, give Botika a try. I can’t wait to go back.More

We stopped at the Pearl brewery shops and stumbled on the botika restaurant. We had seven in our party and with five under 25 years old, some very particular appetites. We order 8-9 dishes plus all three deserts . The waiter brought them one course...at a time for us!!! It was awesome! We loved it all! Expertly prepared, great service, good atmosphere!! I don’t always go to San Antonio but if I do I’ll always make time to stop here. My family loved it and as I said before, we had some very particular appetites!!!! Pork belly was fantastic, sushi was great! Loved the sorbet, oh and the short ribs were straight outta heaven!!!!!More

I agree with TravelinJabbo about this restaurant needing to rethink a few things (ie, complicated food descriptions) but not about the portion size. They were too small. It was like trying to order enough food to be full at a tapas restaurant. That's why I...avoid tapas places. I don't like having to order three times before I am full. And before you go thinking that I am obese, I'm 5'2" and weigh 135. And when I am with several people, we don't want our food arriving to the table at different times which was another problem at Botika. It took an unreasonably long time to get potstickers but they comped us for those. Also, my dad ordered the short ribs and they were undercooked. I ordered the octopus and it was only 1 tentacle on top of some tiny potatoes and olives.More
