I have endured dealing with an abusive bartender the restaurant manager apparently allows to keep working there. So I went to this place, since my previous visit was okay, and sat at the bar. There was a different bartender from last night, a bald, light...skinned, slim, bearded guy. I expected decent service, this so called restaurant being in such an upscale location as the Pearl. However, I could not find a space clean area at the bar. The bar had no other customers there, so there was plenty of opportunity to square it away. I mean the entire counter had white particles all over it. The counter also had stains all on its surface from spilled drinks or food the procrastinating bartender neglected to clean. So when this procrastinating bartender approached, I asked him if he could wipe off the counter. He gave a look as if I had just said something rude for now having to do work. He grabbed a white rag, and brushed the white particles on my clothing, while acting as if he were only wiping the counter. I got out the chair to try to get out of the way of the rest of these white particulates being flung off the counter. I sat again, asked for a menu. The rude, procrastinating bartender acted as if confused, so I ordered what I had on a previous visit. He placed a wine cup in front of me, and just poured the sake I requested in it, when the actual sake cups were nearby him. I asked for a sake cup, he pulls out a dirty one from below the counter on his side, and placed that dirty thing in front of me. I told this guy working the bar the sake cup is dirty and it feels sort of sticky - he feigns confusion then claims there is nothing wrong with it. To just deny it when something is obviously wrong was basically gaslighting, a passive aggressive tactic of psychological abuse. At this point, I ask for his supervisor. This bartender gives me a grimace, and as he walks back with his supervisor, is already making excuses. I could see and hear him in the distance preemptively trying to cover for himself. I asked his supervisor for a sake glass, no issues, he just had a worried look on his face, grabs one of the clean sake cups, places that in front of me, and apologized. I decided to get the hostess to seat me elsewhere, and she led me to the sushi bar. Had to move, because there would've been a brawl had this guy working bar done even one more thing to screw with me, to be completely honest. The supervisor came to me again, asked me how I'm doing, so I reported this whole issue I've had with this bartender doing things to screw with me as if to provoke me into a violent reaction. He said he'd have a word with him later. I finally had no further issues from then on. Any waitress who saw to me, I made sure to also inform them about what happened, what this guy did, just so they would all know about this. Moreover, I was still charged full price for the meal, which as you see, utterly inspired me to type this dissertation about the vile experience I have suffered through at this toxic place. Avoid this so called restaurant. Save yourself the trouble.More
