What an amazing opportunity to see the art of Spanish Flamenco guitar and dance! I have searched unsuccessfully for years to find jut such a place/event/show. Coming from KC it seemed like I would have to travel to Miami or New York. No San Antonio,...TX has it. Uber there and back from riverwalk area very short distance and and the food I had never heard of was fantastic! Do yourself a favor and check it out. Hole in the wall best time of all.More

Carmen is on top of her game! Simple storefront hides a great dining experience. Global Menu is on a chalk board and changes daily. There is a cover charge for the Flamenco dancing but the food alone makes the trip worth the cover. Goat cheese...hatch chili dip and Paella was awesome.More

DO NOT GO HERE. Portion size is microscopic - over $12 for a meat and cheese tray that had, literal slivers of cheese and a few small pieces of prosciutto. The entrees are about the same. Employees are RUDE - we arrived at 6 pm...for dinner and were leaving shortly after the music started at 8. We were charged full price cover for each person in the group. What a scam - Carmen’s that is not how you treat clientele. Ruined our night, we’re NEVER eating here again.More

My friend and I were looking for a good place for music and food. We found it. Small, cozy and a cool hangout.

You will be pleasantly surprised inside. Yes, it looks rundown from the outside but inside it feels welcoming like your friend’s home. We enjoyed queso fundido, tortilla española, paella and empanadas. My sangria was really good and refreshing. Unfortunately we did not know about the...$15 per person cover charge beforehand but we had enough time to eat, drink and enjoy the surroundings before we left. Most of the tables near the stage were reserved so obviously people are in the know about this gem. We’ll definitely go back to enjoy the flamenco show and great food.More

This restaurant will remind you that no matter whatever your life experience may be, the old saying of "don't judge a book by it's cover," still applies! From the outside, Carmens "announces" herself with neon lighting, an unassuming exterior section of store-front, located in a...rather run-down strip of shops, & would usually be described as a "dive," or "hole in the wall." What a mistake! Once you walk through the door, you are charmed into an atmosphere of laughter, music, conversation, & a uniquely arranged local art. The total affect of this first impression is reminiscent of walking into a restaurant-bar in Key West, New Orleans, or the "old" Niagra Falls (before corporate America arrived). The menu includes a wide range of what I consider Cuban-Latin-Caribbean fusions of flavors, seasoning, & textures. Presentation of dishes is colorful & aesthetically pleasing to the eye. My favorite dish from the several that we sampled was the fish tacos: absolutely fresh & delicious. The bar is full service, & the bartender Mary Katherine knows how to make a cocktail to order! The overall service is impeccable. Now for part 2: the beautifully rendered Spanish-Mexican live guitar music & the Flamenco Dancer! What a thrill to eat great food within an aura of vibrant exchange between the guitar & the dancing. You are in for a pleasant surprise when you enter this restaurant! P.S. from an older guy, take your sweetheart to Carmens, @ watch the mutual attraction go up a few points!More

Charming, living rooming and delicious. Paella was greatest ever. Unique dishes on menu and friendliest server ever. Entertainment on Friday is flamenco and Saturday is Brazilian guitarist. Lots of unique and delicious menu items.

Greeted at the door by the owner, Paula. Then she disappeared to the kitchen. Let's talk food. Excellent, bravo, and healthy. Menu changes daily, when it's gone it's off the board. You feel at home with a touch of jazz. Lots of great jazz. Tonight...is vinyl jazz night. The wine list is small but big with taste. This place is a hidden gem in San Antonio. Oh by the way, the empanadas are the best outside of Argentina. Not to forget the Warm Kale salad with feta and walnuts all wrapped in balsamic vinegar. Wanted to try more but too satisfied. Everything was beyond expectation and very relaxed setting....wonderful dinning experience even alone. Also come as you are, there are no pretensions here!More

Tiny hole in the wall with delicious food, great jazz and flamenco performances, full bar. The sangria is homemade with fresh juices and the best I've had anywhere. Love it!

Wonderful food & entertainment! A small corner of Spain in San Antonio! The "bailaoras" so full of soul. So were the musicians. A must visit when in San Antonio.

The staff was very friendly as well as the owner who smilingly would not give me her brownie recipe, but I know they had to contain cayenne. They have music several nights a week. We saw two flamenco shows with a Spanish guitar. Very good...sangria, not too sweet. Delicious food and a very fun time, .More

Once you get served the food is good. If you'd like to eat you have to wait in line at the bar to place an order. There was one time I actually sat AT the bar after ordering a sandwich and it took nearly 2...hours to get it. A sandwich. That was an exception, but not a welcome one. I could've gone across the street, had an entire meal and come back and still waited another hour. So its a mixed bag. You never know what you'll get. Its weird to have to order at the bar and then get served...like a one-way waiter deal. Never seen it before or since. Bizarre. Still, the food is good. Once it arrives. Parking is a challenge, too. On street only.More
