Mustang Diner has wonderful food. The location has been a staple in Mountainair for years. Great place to stop on your way to some place else or on your way into town.

Another reopening in Mountainair. Doing good. New menu with some old favorites. Good food and great owners.

I was here in 2014 and had a very good meal. Two friends and I stopped in for dinner this trip. The green chile burgers were not up to par with others we've had in New Mexico--chopped canned chiles were on these, not the expected...slices. Might come again, but not for the green chile burgers.More

We stopped in here for lunch before continuing our tour of the Salinas Pueblo ruins. We grabbed an open table and our waitress took our order. My wife ordered the hot ham and cheese sandwich. I ordered the small cheeseburger. Both came out promptly and...were served piping hot. Both were delicious and satisfied our appetites. Service was warm and friendly.More

As others have said, there's not many eateries in Mountainair. We were staying at the Rock Motel and Jerry's is just down the road so we ate there. First, the place. It's pretty stark. Just an open room with chrome tables and chairs. Little decoration...and rather bright. Don't go here for ambience. The service was fine. Our server was friendly, but not overly attentive. We had to go to the cash register for the check. I didn't have the opportunity to review the check before paying. I could have requested it, but that would have been a bit awkward. And the food. Just OK. We began with chips and salsa ($3). The salsa was quite good - lots of flavor and a bit of heat. The chips not so much. They were both greasy and tough. They came hot, so they were just cooked. All we could think was that they were cooked too long at too low a temp. We shared red chili enchiladas and a chile rellano. The enchiladas had more of a mole sauce than a traditional red sauce. It was bitter with no heat. The accompanying rice and beans were bland. The hit of the meal was the rellano. It was great. Crispy and filled with cheese. But it too had little heat. May try another place next time.More

There are very few places to eat in Mountainair. This the only restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so it gets most of the business. It does have some competition for breakfast and lunch and the alternatives are all better. I ended up buying...sandwiches from the grocery store along with deli prepared cole slaw that was much tastier that Ancient Cities Cafe. Another alternative for dinner would greatly reduce the number of dinners here.More

A local ... rustic cafe with an open atmosphere. A favorite with the locals. Ate breakfast and the food was very good. My over-medium eggs were a bit overcooked. But the sausage was delicious ... lean and meaty. Served with hash browns. I had the...pancakes instead of the toast and they were very good. Service was a bit slow ... and you have to know to pay at the register. My waiter did not bring the bill to the table ... so I sat there until I asked ... I was not told about that quirk. Parking is an issue ... not really a "correct" parking lot, so parking is as you please.More

Red Chile sauce the way it should be! Very tasty homemade chips with homemade salsa. Excellent food all around and prompt friendly service. We always go out of our way to eat at Jerry's Ancient Cities Cafe.

Met friends for lunch and had great service and delicious food--enchiladas and chile rellenos, plus green chile stew--all great. Great for locals and tourists.
