This place is up the street from where my office was and I used to get lunch from here weekly. Now I'm retired and live in TX, but when I visit Tucson, I always make sure to go to Juanitos carnitas tostadas. Their carnitas is the best I've had. In case you don't know what carnitas is, it's slow cooked... More

Fast, cheap and delicious. More of a fast food joint than a restaurant but the food was so good and very cheap.

If you want to eat affordable but tasty Mexican food with the locals, this is your place. $7 got us a very nice order-at-the-counter meal. Both the al pastor (pork) and carne asada (beef) tacos were very good. Enjoyable Mexican folk art on the walls. Certainly an interesting experience that might take some tourists out of their comfort zone. More... More

My wife and I have been to Juanitos several times. It's good cheap Mex food. Styrofoam plates, plastic forks sort of place. But tasty. BUT last time we were there it was obvious that they had lost their health department certification. We'll try again though. If they have their license, we'll stay with them. But if they still don't have... More

I had the Menudo twice because Yelp said they were the best in town. By the way, I do pride myself as a menudo expert having had that all over the US. First time I had it "for here" and it was not hot enough. The second time I had it to go so I can take it back and... More

Our local host insisted we eat here in between meals (!) -- only had room for some shared ceviche (excellent) and carne asada tacos; she had a HUGE torta that would have fed two of us. Counter service. Nothin' fancy, but the locals obviously know a good thing when they see it.

We felt like tacos for lunch so I googled and found this little spot. Filled with locals, and felt like it was a family run operation. Not fancy decor, but really good food. Pork al pastor provided crispy pork pieces, corn tortillas, avocado, and shredded lettuce. Simple, unpretentious, but very good. Husband says it was the best meal we had... More

Was pretty excited, the place was buzzing, parking lot full. Ordered, carnitas, looked good but lacked flavor, the tortilla smelled awesome but were tough to eat. Probably won't visit again.

The restaurant is unassuming and appears to be a favorite for locals. The fact that it was fairly busy for the time of night that we visited was a good sign. If you are looking for fancy, this is not the place. If you want an enjoyable meal in close proximity to the hotels in the area at a reasonable... More
