I think the title says it all. There were four of us dining at this restaurant and every body felt that the food was marginal and the service was abysmal and slow. We will definitely not eat here again.

This is easily the worst sushi restaurant I've ever visited, and sushi is my favorite type of cuisine. The fish on top of the rainbow roll had a silvery skin was soft, warm, and borderline rotten. The sushi chef use the microwave at one point, and we probably should've headed for the door. The wasabi was watery, and the portions... More

My second visit re-confirmed that quality fish can be found in the Tucson desert. I usually order the basics shashimi style and the quality of maguro, hamachi and sake were quite good. The special items such as aji or toro don't specify the price, nor are they detailed on the bill, so you are at the mercy of the sushi... More

WE sat at the sushi bar and the single chef took good care of us. Mostly sashimi, everything fresh and somewhat inventive. Service was quick, too. Be warned, he does not stretch himself too thin so you may not be able to be served sushi without waiting even if there are seats available.

We ended up eating here for two nights because we loved the Sushi so much! Great atmosphere and service, but for sure, their sushi is amazing!!

After 3 years of living in Japan, and many more of eating Japanese in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, this is the best Japanese food I've found in the U.S. and, here in Tucson of all places! When I say best, I mean the closest to the refined, delicious, comfort food that's one of the delights of everyday... More

A few years ago my favorite sushi restaurant in town closed leaving me with very few options. I am vegetarian and still want to enjoy delicious sushi. A co-worker recommended Yamato- specifically the shiitake house specialty and I am an sushi heaven again. The owner is a master of sushi. I haven't tried any other dishes but why would you?

We are her last night for the first time. The food was very good. One of the owners is gluten intolerant and prepared my dish using her homemade gf sauce. We enjoyed it. Our server; Brittney explained all of the different dishes on the menu which helped us with our dinner selection.

First time visit, based in Trip Advisor and Yelp reviews. We decided the $50/2 people dinner would give us a good overview of all of their food. Miso soup = weak. Salad = green and ordinary. Appetizer spring rolls good. Sushi and sashimi = excellent. Shrimp & vegetable tempura = ordinary and tasted rather of the oil they were cooked... More

My wife and I are real sushi aficionados. And we´re spoiled, too. We come from Long Island where we have some of the best sushi outside of Japan. That being said, Yamato is BY FAR the best Japanese food we´ve had West of New Jersey! No fancy setting or cutesy appetizer names, this is a place where you go to... More
