Absolutely delicious Seafood Enchilada. Very crowded on a Saturday evening but the wait was not too long…the wait was worth it though. Tori, our server did an excellent job keeping us well fed and hydrated.

Fabulous traditional Mexican food. Wonderful service! Love the traditional Mexican decor and ambiance. They have a lovely outdoor patio and a fireplace as well!
Overrated,in my opinion. We heard great things. Salsa and chips good, but otherwise Everything was just ok and service was terrible. We asked for more salsa three times. Told sure, each time. This took on a comedic air, eventually. Drinks not replenished or asked about...after the first visit. Ray, our server, had to be tracked down after waiting with finished plates so that we could get our tab and leave.More
The food was delicious. The service provided was well below my expectations after reviewing online ratings. We had to ask about our food after waiting 45-50 minutes and didn't have anyone come by to refill drinks.
We ate here once (in late February) because it was convenient and close to our condo. The staff was friendly and welcoming, but overall seemed less experienced and competent than we have experienced over the years at the original downtown location. They have tried to...replicate the decor and atmosphere, but higher ceilings make it more cavernous and less warm old home style. The menu is very much the same as the downtown location. The taco chips and salsa were good, as usual. My wife ordered carnitas and a tortilla soup and was very happy with it. I ordered the special, (pescado viscaína) and was, frankly, very disappointed. First, the plate served at the table looked nothing like the pictures on the doors that advertised the special. Second, the components: the principal fish was fine, as was the sauce. But what appeared to be some sort of crab cake was hard, and mealy. The greens, which appeared fresh in the ad photo, were a sort of whipped blend. My food was not bad, not bad enough to send back. (Especially after I had questioned the plate served and been told by our server that the manager had said it was what they made.). But I certainly would not order it again. I suspect there is a covid-related training and/or a management issue at the Ventana location. A week or so earlier, I ordered take out churros & sopapillas and when I got home found they had failed to put any chocolate sauce in the order. Unless future reviews suggest change at this location, we will make the trip downtown instead.More
Expect to wait for a table. El Charro is a seemingly a victim of its own success. Our margarita was watered down and a disappointment. The food was good and came out in a reasonable amount of time. The sun-dried carne seca and the cheese...crisps are what we associate with El Charro.More
This was such a fabulous place. I came here with my fiancé and we went ham on the menu it felt like. I had quesadillas burgers and a few desserts. The service was really nice. The food was absolutely delicious. I love everything I ate....The owner even came by and greeted me. Kind of told me a little bit about the history of the restaurant, and how they just take pride in their food. He even gave me his card if I have any issues. It definitely added to the experience of the whole restaurant eating in. I would hundred percent recommend because honestly where else are you aware you going to get great Mexican food. Overall my favorite was the desserts especially the tres leches. I am a big fan of anything tres leches in general. My fiancé loved the burger and enjoyed his time with me.More
We stopped by here when we were driving from Sabino Canyon to the airport. It's a family restaurant with nice outdoor seating and a menu with everything Mexican on it. We ordered tamales which were very good. The service was great.
Good presentation but the meat was overcooked and tough. Vegetables were better. That is all. …………..
chili rellenos has always been my favorite Mexican dish, but not easy to find in most parts of the world...beautiful!!
What is all the hype? We arrived late afternoon for an early dinner, it wasn't crowded but the service was slow, the margaritas had too much ice and flavorless, the food was OK but not great. We ordered the table side guacamole and was brought...a bowl of guacamole and no chips. We had to asked for the chips! My margarita salad didn't have any dressing on it, I had to ask for dressing. The chicken on top was grilled and dry. The enchiladas were OK but nothing special, the chili relleno was mushy not firm. It definitely wasn't their day.More
We must have caught them on a bad night. Service was pleasant, but spotty. (Five minute wait for an initial glass of water?) Food was … inoffensive. Given past reviews we’ll try again.
They had a great menu for everyone, from the meat eaters to the vegans. We all loved our dishes so much, we went back the next night to try more dishes. We loved everything the second night too! The staff was lovely and very helpful....They kept us supplied with chips and salsa and checked in regularly. I highly recommend El Charo!More
We had a great time having dinner & drinks. Be prepared to wait a while for a table because it's so popular. We had Carlotta's Clasico mole & Famous Carne Seco Platter. We had so much food we 1/2 home for another meal.
Three of us went there to celebrate a birthday. We didn't make reservations and wished we had. Being a Wednesday, we thought it wouldn't be a problem, but there was a long wait. The food was very good.
