We found this gem on our Tucson visit in January and we went back this last March and loved it both times. It is a small, family owed restaurant and the neighborhood is a little sketchy. But for lunch, I would recommend it! A small...buffet but every dish is exquisite and we ate way too much both times because it is so tasty. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is homey and sweet.More

Got chicken tikka Masada, soup, and garlic naan for take out. The portion sizes were generous, and the rice well cooked. The sauce was a little different than I am used to for tikka masala, but it was flavorful and tasty nonetheless. Wish the heat...level was a bit higher though. Naan was good as well. Location is unfortunately not the best, but what can you do.More

The location of this place should have been hint that we should have turned around. Normally I really want to support ethnic restaurant but this place has literally nothing positive to talk about. There was a single other customer when we walked in around 6...30 pm and that should have been another hint for us to turn around. The decor of this place is like a time capsule showcasing how little effort has been put into this place. But inside my mind i was praying and hoping at least the food would be decent since we didnot want to drive again to another place. But Alas, the food was major disappointment too. Normally to be safe, i like to order Chicken Tikka Masala and they managed to screw it up too. Fish curry tasted like some weird version of some kind of pumpkin soup. I read the menu again, just to see and it was described as tomoto based curry but I am sure it tasted nothing like it. Both Chicken Tikkas masala and fish curry tasted too sweet and there is nothing Indian about the food that came out. If you are brave and don't believe me, venture it out here and try it for your self. My advice, just avoid this place. There are better indian joints in Tuscon.More

We just happened to drive by on Fort Lowell and saw the lonely little restaurant with almost nothing else open in the shopping area. So, we decided to try it, and boy are we glad we did! Our family of 7 loved the food! We...started with the vegetable pakoras and vegetable samosas (just 1 order of each and cut up the the 2 samosas to share). We loved the 3 meat dishes we ordered - Chicken Tikka Masala (very tender large chunks of beautiful boneless chicken), Lamb Rogan Josh (sumptuous tender lamb in a tomato and onion sauce), and Shrimp Madras (coconut curry - recommendation from owner). And the 3 vegetable dishes were just as good - Aloo Gobi (what could be better than potatoes and cauliflower!), Chana Saag (great spinach sauce with those chick peas), and the owner recommended Dal Maharani (wonderfully spiced lentil dish). In addition, we ordered the Murgh Biryani (chicken recommended by chef/owner) rice, some Raita for those of us who wanted a bit less spiciness, Garlic naan, and Kheer (rice pudding - chef recommended again) for dessert. We will definitely go back and/or order takeout and we hope the little restaurant weathers the pandemic well.More

There were a dozen of us looking to have dinner later in the evening. Gandhi got us in and seated promptly. There was a nice selection of beers to choose from. For my meal I chose a lamb curry that I was quite happy with....Overall I had no complaints. Oh, by the way don't be surprised by the motorcycle clubhouse right next door.More

I've been to & enjoyed meals @Ghandhi several times. They offer a very reasonable lunch buffet 7 days/wk for only $7.99. The food today was tasty, but barely warm. I mentioned this to the owner/mgr & he checked & assured me that the buffet was...the proper temperature - it was not. I will not return any time soon...More

Not sure why the food was greasy that much. Expected a higher quality but we were disappointed. We left most of the food untouched. The naan was good thought. I know they can do better, so I might go back again once more...

I was there after 11 years. It was good at that time but it was terrible this time. Food taste and quality was not good at all. I will never go there again.

Nice server, in a comfortable enough space, but food had absolutely no flavor. We ordered saag with lamb specifically requesting VERY HOT (but it wasn't), and the butter chicken and dal both MILD (they were mild). Butter naan was fine. Sadly, no taste in anything....I asked for something to heat up the saag and they gave me weak jalapenos. Very disappointing after eating so much Mexican for the week we were visiting Arizona and wanting something different and good. This wasn't good.More

We ordered a diverse number of dishes to go however were very disappointed with the flavor of all the dishes. The rice in most other Indian restaurants that we have experienced before always has unique Indian spices this did not. The Aloo Paratha did not...seem to have anything stuffed in it. The Saag and Korma dishes were bland And the Biryani did not have anything tasty in it just shrimp and rice. The rice pudding lacked raisins cinnamon etc. Oh and expensive Poor value tooMore

I was travelling via Tucson and wanted to try the indian restaurant out there. Went to Gandhi with the entire family. They have Vegetarian Thali option also at 10.99 - Naans, Samosa as appetizer, Choice of your vegetable from the main menu, and dessert. Prior...to that they serve you papadam. It's a good family restaurant - very quiet and well managed. Overall prices are very reasonable. Overall taste was also good. It's worth giving it a try.More

Gandhi been our favorite restaurant for years, and I want to contradict some of the negative reviews I see here. The food is still great, and the buffet is still the best bargain in Tucson. Although there's a wide variety of choices on the menu,...we normally go for the lunch buffet (7 days a week). The buffet is somewhat modest in its offerings but has meats, vegetable dishes, samosas, soup, build-your-own salad, dessert and naan (bread). The family's other restaurant, Flavor of India on Tucson's far north side, has a somewhat larger buffet (and also costs a bit more). The Singh family are gracious hosts, attentive and friendly. Visiting with them when they have time is certainly part of the experience. Still the #1 reason to go is the wonderful food. But maybe I shouldn't say anything lest Gandhi become crowded.More

For many reasons i feel this...there are other Indian restaurants that are great in town but this one shines for its homey feeling. The naan is delicious and all the dishes i have tried have been very authentic tasting. Again, really, i must emphasize the...decor and the 'feeling' of this place as its main selling quality though.More

So I have been here many times and have been impressed with the price and quality of the buffet. It is small but there is a good variety, which I believe varies, and the containers are replenished often. The buffet area is well maintained and...clean. I like the vegetarian dishes but have also appreciated the lamb meatballs and tandori chicken. I have met neighborhood people there that come in on a regular basis. The last time I was there I took my extended family and our toddler made a supreme mess on the white tablecloth. The owner was so kind, he said no worries. This buffet pleased people from 2 to 70 years of age. Thank you!More
