Mexican the way it should be

Visited here with a friend who had frequented it many years ago. Service was fast, friendly and fun. The food was wonderful. Salsa was spiced up just how we like it. The cheese crisp was perfect. Enchiladas and tostadas were great, too. Worth seeking out if you appreciate good Mexican food... read more

We looked for a downtown Mexican restaurant once again and thought we would give it a second try after many years (first visit had been rather negative). Well, good location, the restaurant is nicely decorated, and the atmosphere is pleasant. They also have an outdoor, covered space for ca. 30 people. Service was fast, waitress nice. Salsa was too spicy... More

We were hoping this would be our favorite local lunch spot, since we live a couple of blocks away. So sad. I have no idea how this place can be so highly rated. Sub-mediocre food, heavy on the cheese to add flavor. Rubbery chips. Salsa that tasted like Sysco tomato sauce and a margarita made with lime soda. That was... More

My second time at this highly rated local establishment. We went on a weeknight, and the wait wasn't too long, so that was a plus. My teenage son liked all the décor on the walls, so that kept him busy as the time it took to get our order in and be served our food was bit long. Lots of... More

The decor was about what you would expect from a Mexican/American restaurant. While the food was good it was not "write home to mother" good in my opinion. I did hear one of our party say the enchiladas were just like her nana used to make. Made me wish I had ordered them instead of the tamales which were just... More

Our family has dinner here every year right around mid December. My uncle visits from Cape Cod and about 20 of us get together. We thoroughly enjoy the food but the service is sooooo slow.

Found this by accident while walking the Turquoise Trail in downtown Tucson. Charming place in business since the 1930s. Great food! Cheese crisps especially good and popular. I am from San Diego, so I appreciate good Mexican food and this was up there. My flautist were generously stuffed with white meat chicken inside the crispy but light tortilla. Delisth! A... More

Located behind the Tucson Convention Center at Main & Cushing. Standard Mexican menu. Good food at decent prices. Check out their lunch specials for a real bargain. Had the chicken burro enchilada style with rice & beans. Came with free chips & salsa. Fast service.

Just returned from a visit to Tucson and dined here for the third time. This is one of my most favorite Sonoran style restaurants in the area. We always eat there. I had the Carne Asada Burro and it was fantastic. The Carne Asada was perfectly prepared. It was tender and seasoned perfectly. I must say it was the best... More

Recommended by the locals and they didn't steer us wrong. It's little but the food was fantastic and the waiter and host were very nice.
